I can't remember their name now. I'll have a look and see if I can find it when I'm on my pc tonight.

I believe it was last years BBQ but a new poster appeared, said a few things, was invited to the BBQ and was never heard of again.

Classic.

I don't think you can "lurk" with 1,200+ posts.

I'm not sure what it should be called, though.

Hmm, that was meant to sound all "inclusive" and shit, but thinking about it, making your second sentence ever to someone new "we should meet in real life!" is probably fucking terrifying.

Incidentally, a Beexer who hasn't posted for a while posted a photo of a pub on Twitter yesterday which is a short bus ride from my home. Small world, eh?

My internal rule is that the instant anyone uses the phrase "common sense" or "PC" you can ignore everything they've said and just mentally replace it with, "I am pretending everything I've said is so obviously correct I don't need to bother providing a real argument when actually I simply don't have one because what I'm saying is utter pish." It's a great time-saver.

I know this is a forum with a strong bias towards console gaming but that seems a little harsh.

Holy shit, what a piece of crap Origin is. Six times in the last ten minutes it's popped up a box saying 'the download server is not responding' and killed the download of Battlefield 3. Steam didn't have any problems downloading Amnesia at full pelt half an hour ago and the browser's getting data fine so it's not like it's my net connection that's the problem. Also, when this happens it puts the download state to paused and just gives up! What if there was a genuine problem that only a few minutes and you'd left it to download overnight or whatever? The stupid piece of crap would just be sitting there staring into space the next morning even if the connection had been fine for hours. What the fuck kind of company, in this day and age, can't design a system that downloads shit off the internet? It's 5% into a 20GB download so this would be incredibly painful if it was something I'd given them money for and actually cared about. I'll try it again later and see if it works but on this basis there's zero chance I'll ever actually buy anything from them.

If it were knob size, it'd garner more attention. "Viewing porn means you have less brain" for the psycology students amongst us.

Whilst viewing French erotica with subtitles in an arthouse cinema makes you have more brain. Obviously.

Surely those findings suggest that having actual sex would make you dumb? Or just thinking about sex?

If you think that psychologically-speaking having sex and looking at internet porn are the same thing that really worries me.

It's erotic vs non-erotic in the study (although at the end they basically admit they their finding are fairly useless).

Yeah, it's a chicken and egg situation anyway. Not particularly useful or even really interesting.

There's an amazing brouhaha at the moment in the field of psycology about reproducing results. And the fact that many results aren't reproducible. Some want this investigated and others don't. Here's where we are at present I think

There was an item on the news this morning about obesity being linked to leaving the light on overnight.

Correlation vs Causation anyone?

I don't think I've ever actually met someone with a scouse accent*.

Although I have met some fool with a Somalian brogue. They're obviously more common.

* - Disclaimer: I'm rubbish at recognising accents.
Second Disclaimer. I've never been to Tyneside, Glasgow or the Isle of Man. (Or Liverpool)

Playing Wolfenstein: Everything's Gone Green, and its excellent. Feels really old school and meaty. It almost feels Dishonored:Nazi Edition in some of the stealthy bits, and then you pull out dual-wielded shottys and kick arse.
