Maybe the established patriachy isn't the problem.

Saw an ex-classmate from secondary school earlier today, getting his methadone prescription from the pharmacy, told me he's recently got into some problems with the law. Then later out shopping, saw an ex-classmate from university, who told me she works for the county police and a crime-solving-type person. Funny old world, eh?

Nine Inch Nails tickets: get! Mrs B got into them pretty late so only had one chance to see them before they were put on hiatus and the gig in question sucked so she's creaming her pants at the chance to see them again in Glasgow.

Their anti-scalping measure are admirably hardcore as well; I bought four tickets and I can only pick them up on the night and only on the way into the gig so people don't have a chance to sell them on. Obviously if you're willing to meet up with the random stranger from eBay that bought a ticket from you it can still be done but I imagine this'll put a few people off.

Does anyone know if Game or Gamestation still offer a cleaning service for disks? I have a game that may benefit from it, but I don't know if the service still exists.

Has anyone tried it? If so, any ideas how much it costs?

They do still do it - they charge £1 and i've no idea how good it is

The reason I know is after R6V was offered on XBL i tried to trade my copy in , its an old one i picked up from Blockbuster years ago and the disk has a lot of surface scratches (but still plays fine) - they told me for a disk in that condition I would have to pay for them to clean it (for £1) and that they would have only given me £1 for the game so it would not be worth anything trading it in.

Excellent. For the sake of £1, it might be worth a go. I don't think it'll make a difference but still... The guy on eBay has offered a refund anyway but I would like the game.

Dunno. I mean, neither would know each other, and I suspect beat coppers would be the arresting agent rather than some graduate CID type.

Kinda ominous that on the rare occasions I see people I went to secondary school with, they're always down and out and have stories about how much worse off other classmates are. (Then again, even years ago when I was doing my A-levels, they'd always have "so and so's in prison and on heroin" type stories whenever you bumped into those kids.)

I see a few folk similar to that from time to time. Always think you're invincible when you're a young scrote. And I know a copper who you'd never have guessed would have become one years ago.

But I don't care and the website worked flawlessly and we get in before main door opening. Marvellous! I'm going to the Manchester gig.

Didn't watch any last night, too tired!

I set alarms for just before midnight, 02:40 and 05:00, but must have slept through them.

I'm kinda glad as I don't think I would have enjoyed staying up to watch that!

On an unrelated note.

I'm amazed there is no cricket thread!

We have a cafetiere with chocolate cherry coffee and toast made from home made bread. Nom!

Good morning everyone. :)

I didn't get NIN tickets. Between the dual rises in ticket prices and people experiencing gigs through their phone screens, it's rarely an enjoyable experience to see a band live nowadays. Sad times.

Thanks again to all who could make it, apologies to those who I couldn't include due to number limitations, I would have invited everyone if that was possible.

Ha, thank you both. I missed getting one of the cards they were giving out. Can't wait to see what people got up to!

Only took a few photos on my phone, but will upload them to peex when I can think in a straight line.
