Ouch, sounds dire. We had ours last friday - a pub christmas lunch with gratis wine, and most people stayed on drinking and playing pool (and smoking cigars, wtf?) until chucking out time.

:this: (Apart from smoking cigars of course... what's wrong with that? :D )

That sounds bloody terrible, Mark. Reminds me of shitty, boring places I've worked at in the past. What is it with some people, have they never heard "work hard, play hard?"

I used to enjoy being as outrageous as possible during such times. Once, we got a snooty dictat from my MD at the time that we must wear a tie, just to go to some incredibly shitty provincial Chinese restaurant (Set Menu "A" o'clock  ), the kind of place I wouldn't even trust for a take-out these days, let alone a sit down meal, and then some ropey, tumbleweed pub afterwards for a dusty, eggy pint of bitter. So naturally, I went to the joke shop for a clown's outfit, complete with spinning bow tie, and sat in this garb all night, having "pre-loaded" substantively beforehand for Dutch Courage, and ending up down to my pants in a nightclub.

Funnily enough, I felt a job change was the order of the day that January.

We've got our 'do' tomorrow night. Woe betide anyone who even so much as alludes to anything work-related, even once - they'll be strongarmed into the dreaded 'Sambucca Challenge of Doom' that very instant. :D

Up until about amonth ago, I found Amazon's recommendations really quite useful. Now it is just full of Pippa Fucking Funnell's Pony Novels.

Gangnam style is just short of getting 1 billion views on you tube:

In 1503, Nostradamus wrote:

Korea known as land of the morning calm in some translations
Dancing horse is obvious
Nine circles = 1 billion

Thanks, all.

Sadly not my last day of work today (that will be Monday) but there is a disco in the office (lights and music) and I have had some coffee cake with a few folks.

Also, some wine and chocolate and a Minnie Mouse mug :)

I got some bath products and perfume, yarn and, best of all, a beer brewing kit because I have always wanted to try brewing beer. All come around for a pint in about a month.

I think we got our landline number from a now defunct business or something as we've had a number of calls thinking we're them. This morning some guy called asking about the dishwasher's job.

In fact, that IS what happened, I've just found the place on Toronto.com. It's only a few blocks away, I might go and visit them and see what's up.

Back when I lived here before, our number was one digit away from the 24 hour Emergency Dental Clinic (also only a few blocks away) and we used to get bizarre calls at all times of the day and night from pained people who'd just lost a filling or something.

It was odd. All the presents were wrapped in the middle then we took a turn. We could take a present and open it, or take it and exchange it with someone else's already opened present.

I cleared the two major events last week. I'm on tidy ups now. Mostly writing documentation. I've got three emails to answer tomorrow then done.

Just paid the place a visit... the old sandwich place has been gone for almost ten years, the current occupants (still sandwiches, but a different name) say they went out of business and so probably just packed up and left, not bothering to inform anyone. I dread to think how many websites our number is listed on, I might just change it rather than try to find and contact them all...
