Perkies, that's an excellent outcome from the cab company - very quick too.

I'm perhaps being too suspicious in thinking the punishments were not actually handed out.

I quite like this house. Actually, moving to Rawdon wouldn't be such a bad idea as I know the schools are good, there's a bus to Leeds or Yeadon, the cricket club is pretty smart and there's supermarkets nearby. Only downside would be a commute into work, but that's pretty much anywhere that isn't Shipley, or Bingley.

They are fairly harsh punishments.

I want to go and work for them.

It doesn't say if it's their first offence or whether those punishments are in line with company policy. Still, if only they'd done their job properly in the first place.

It is the north. The interior decoration is, for most places, politely, fucking gopping. See my edit. It's very close to an ex girlfriend of mine's parents though, so sneaking that fact past MrsA might be tricky.

You should buy my house. Commute to work would suck but it's great for the quiz.

I replaced the door - hung a new one with my own two hands. It doesn't close, but that's just a minor detail.

Anyone know a cheap-ish way of getting MS Office? Cheaper than just walking into PC World, and more expensive than warez. Thanks.

My company (and if we do, I imagine every company does) has this link through the IT department to get it for a tenner.

Note that isn't buying it though, technically it's a copy that you can use at home while you're working for the company.

I shall ask. Only slight snag is we don't have an IT department, merely an IT "guy" who appears once a week, goes into the server cupboard and makes lots of phonecalls on the landline in there, and then goes away again.

Is Baroness in it?

Doesn't look like it from IMDB - also, I think she carked it at the end of the first one. It also looks like Scarlet isn't in it.

On the plus side it has red ninjas, Rattlers, Firefly, Roadblock, Tunnel Rat, Lady Jaye and more original GI Joe goodness.

I recently got my sadness on with a relatively newly made cartoon version, GI Joe Revolution or some such. It was 10 parts of 8 minutes each, on Youtube. Very good stuff.

A server cupboards. I sometimes miss sitting in those for three hours interspersed with regular trips to the bathroom to stand around for five minutes looking at the ceiling to make it look like I'm doing something.

There's two deals a company can get from Microsoft, the Home Use Plan (which is the one where you're using it under license, and costs about a tenner) or the Employee Purchase Plan - which is a real purchase not licensing, and usually gets you a discount, but nowhere near the discount you get with the HUP, for obvious reasons.

So, my new office is on Kensington High Street, which, while lovely, is ridiculously expensive. Like £11.50 for a salad for lunch expensive (no, I did not buy it!). So, I know that I'm going to need to start taking my own lunches. But...

...I'm already mahusively struggling with the alarm going off at 6:30am, rather than my previous freelance working from home oh-boy-was-I-lucky 9am(ish), and doing the fairly long commute, and getting home late, and generally being KNACKERED the whole time. So fitting in time for running (which I haven't done since I started) and making packed lunches and doing anything around the flat (that I didn't realise how much time I had to do before this!) is starting to feel overwhelming (read: impossible).

Any tips / tricks / time savers / money savers on how the hell to adjust to this thing called proper job permanent employment?!?!

*collapses*

I like sitting in the server cupboard occasionally, it's warm and makes a comforting whirring noise. I can see how it would unsatisfying as a job though.
