Like I say, I don't care much about Atonement, I just like to bang my anti-spoiler drum. But also I'm not sure it's okay to put a time limit on spoilers either. I actually feel quite hypocritical for my Keyser Soze one above.

I think I've seen half of Atonement. It was a bit shit like his books.

Jahonney should watch Atonement because the 'Dunkirk' bits were actually filmed in Redcar and he would be as amused as I was. Totally wrecked my immersion that did

Hang on, I might not have seen it. I thought it had Knightley and Macavoy in it.

Yeah I saw all of that malarky at the time in Redcar. Still didn't make me want to watch the film, though. We've even got the DVD. "We've."

Watched Exam last night, best described as a cross between a game of mafia scum and the Apprentice.

Quite a low budget British film, but Pauline and I really enjoyed it. Well worth watching if you get the chance.

That might be worth a look, Barker's work has generally suffered a bit at the hands of the censors, although at least the full versions of the Hellraisers are readily available now.

I'd really like to see the full version of Event Horizon, but unfortunately a lot of that footage has simply been lost.

WARNING - GRAPHIC, NSFW and some people probably won't like it.

Movie Face Off

In the Red Corner: Hot Tub Time Machine

In the Blue Corner: the challenger - The Cabin in the Woods.

The Cabin in the Woods comes out and gives a nodding wink to the horror movies in the front row. Hot Tub Time Machine distracts him with a sucker punch to the side of the head. The Cabin in the Woods screams "it's so black" before collapsing to a count of ten.

The winner: Hot Tub Time Machine.

Good film that. I can't believe I missed it first time round. The Cabin was good too, mind, both silly fun but it's Hot Tub that comes out as most memorable for me.

Just saw an ad for the Prometheus home release. With alternate ending AND alternate beginning! Bloody Ridley! I have a feeling this is only the beginning, however, and I'll be waiting it out for the proper Director's Cut Super Special Edition Bluray in a few months.

Round up of 10 Sci Fi films coming out next year and shock horror not a sequel among them...one or two look a touch suspect (Will Smith, I'm looking at you) but I can't remember a year when so many Sci Fi flicks were coming out (then again I am old and may have forgotten).

Did i mention i watched 'Legion'? It started off good, then got shit, then got awesome, then good and ended up average. The young chick in it was sluttily hot.

Interesting interview with the Taken 2 director here.

http://collider.com/olivier-megaton-tak ... ew/198696/

I liked the first Taken, it was a pretty generic action film in a lot of ways but it was well constructed and entertaining, plus it had Liam Neeson in it.

I was intrigued to see that Taken 2 had got a 12A over here and a PG-13 in the States (the original was 15 with an 18 'harder cut' on DVD/Blu-Ray, and PG-13 in the States with an unrated DVD/Blu-Ray) - well, turns out that Taken 2 was cut to fucking shreds to get the PG-13/12A that the distributor wanted.

Seriously, the film is missing about ten fucking minutes if you see it at the cinema.

Definitely one for DVD/Blu-Ray then. I think 12/12A have been a fucking disaster zone for films in the UK, as releases are 'targeted' at that category, and in the States they go for PG-13 - for the obvious reason that they can get the kids paying to get in.

Grrrrr. I want my films un-fucked with!

I watched about half of Legion a few months ago. It was fecking tedious, despite the promise it had given the high Bettany count.

And they wonder why cinema is dying on its arse, these days?

It seems the vast majority of films these days end up with an "Uncut" or "Extreme Cut" version on DVD/BD, so why the hell would anyone spend money on a cinema ticket when they can just wait for the DVD and see the film as it was intended?

I tend to agree with you (I'm still annoyed that Jurassic Park was cut down from a 15) BUT, how much are we missing out on given that what's cut from the films you're talking about is basically just gratuitous violence? They can't all be (and don't need to be) A Serbian Film.

The UK release of The Matrix was brutally slashed and heavily censored. They removed almost ONE SECOND of footage to avoid exposing the fragile British public to the horror of a head butt. This cut meant that the dvd couldn't have the commentaries as apparently the disparate running times were too unwieldy

I'm fairly excited about the prospect of Cameron and the Matrix universe.

Its Enders game in that list that I really am holding up my hopes for, Card has refused numerous offers over the years from various film makers because they all wanted to change Enders age to 16 so they could go for the Romance story also, which fundamentally changes the story, now it looks like he has gotten his way, hopefully a story which I found to be most awesome when younger and still stands up now can be transferred to movie format without loosing too much of the awesomeness.
