Anyone picking this up? Sounds like it'll be mostly about the multiplayer so if anyone wants to team up I'm sure I can gather up some people from my site and whatever.

Apparently they've done away with the anti-skating security bastards, so that's good. The new game world is pro-skating which is a good thing.

Will multiplayer reward only knowing how to do one trick and doing it over and over again till you fall off? For that is my natural skate gaming mode.

Is there any guarantee that there will never be a Bam Margera DLC?

I'm going to be buying this today! I loved the demo, especially the "hardcore mode". Also between that and the new park creator I'll be able to reenact my own skateboarding by repeatedly failing to do a trick, on a tiny obstacle, whilst travelling slowly.

Just bought this. From reading the manual it seems I actually have to play the main game before it'll let me unlock the skate park creator and mess about. This is like Race Pro stealing my favourite cars, I want peeks and pokes :( :(

I just spent about an hour painstakingly making a pretty good facsimile of a favourite spot, placed my little facsimile of myself back in to try and skate it and due to a terrible miscalculation of scale he appeared as wee midget who didn't even have the pop to get onto the gigantic ledge which I had intended would be about knee-high. :D

I've got this! I was burned out on the series after the first two and didn't bother with this one because it came along so soon after. However two years on it's cheap and THPSHD made me want to play it. It's pretty good! The first game was outstanding, the second was a bit balls, but this is shaping up better. World seems a little bland though.

Nah, skateboarding games are awful. It's not even a real sport (but at least wrestling games let you make your wrestler look silly).

Skate 1 was terrible - the character just felt lumpen and the controls were really finickity. I liked Tony Hawk's back in the day, but I suspect I'd hate it these days.

Wrong! Wrong wrong wrong!

The control system is brilliant. It takes some getting used to, though. It feels like proper skateboarding. I loved it. Must admit, Skate 3 really isn't much cop. The city is boring as shit.

It is great unless you were concerned with "winning" at it and then it's just as big a bag of tedious balls as any other skate/snowboarding game.

Yep. shite. Glad they've gotten the zeitgeist off of the franchise now tho.

Skate 3 is a piece of shit. Nowhere near as good as the first two. Its world is bland and uninspiring, and split into three parts which breaks the open world immersion that made the first two good. The graphics are a bit shit and janky and the frame rate is all over the place. To top it off, the game has crashed twice today forcing me to turn off the console and I was only playing for 30 minutes. It crashed once before previously as well.

Mega disappointed. Gonna trade it back in.

At least it was only 'pretty good' to start with. I'd hate to see what's worse than 'mega disappointed' if it been that evening's best thing ever.

The core game mechanics are still fine, it's just a total mess. A lazy effort from the developers. It only took a year after the second game to appear, so that's probably why. I did well to avoid it when it came out. Shouldn't have bothered even on the cheap two years after.
