For the playoffs, sure, but I doubt they will reach the finals.

Whilst MrsA was shopping, I had a very swift pint in The Ship, as it was full of pissed old men and smelled of Parma Violets and ammonia. So I left and then we went to the Bier Kellar for a pint, which was also shit. Being a creature of habit, I decided that the Scarborogh Hotel was the answer, and I had nice beers there, before getting the train home.

We closed one of the main routes into town today so we can put up a footbridge, despite numerous signs advising of the upcoming closure, the fact it was in the press and the signs saying Raod Ahead Closed...people have still been trying to get down there.

All the other routes are mental busy now, a right nightmare so it goes. lolz they all forgot! We've had a few irate phone calls already too!

Oh wait...I've got to take my car to the garage to be repaired this morning.

On Thursday the electricians, after being asked to leave the front bedroom til Friday so we could clear it, worked in there anyway. And apparently dragged the bed across the floor ruining three of the corner legs and clear removing the centre foot. Then moved it back. And didn't mention it. And we noticed at the weekend when it was sagging in the middle.

What sort of cunt destroys someone's bed, leaves it a dangerous state, doesn't mention it, and expects to get paid?

They also decided, unasked and unconfirmed, to rewire chunks of the house instead of modifying it as asked because the last lot cut corners and left it in an unsafe state. The bed, and fucking up a couple of cream carpets, now means that any chance they had of getting extra payment is gone*.

Extra before having £400 taken off for a new bed frame and professional carpet cleaning, I mean. Or maybe actually new carpets, because it looks like boot polish from where they were kneeling, not just dirt, and I'm not sure boot polish/leather dye likes coming out of carpets.

* Potential good will on our part, what with the unsolicited services bit of the SoGA.

That does suck, but you may have learned a valuable lesson here - workmen don't give a fuck, they want to do the job quickly and get out, it's not malice on their part, but yes they do think you are a "pussy who won't say shit".

The bedroom probably got done when it did because that was the quickest order in which to do all the rooms, and as for the re-wiring without asking, they have to I'm afraid as if they ignore it after having the wires exposed themselves and your house burns down then it then becomes their culpability. Electricians/plasters and carpets just don't mix, you are best off just lifting and rolling the whole damn lot - a lot of electricians tell you to do this anyway and I've known council guys who have just gone and Stanley knifed right through them to get to where the wires are when owners have failed to do so.

I would expect that you'll end up paying the original bill, and not paying the extra for the additional work, rather than getting any money off...

Not pay for work we didn't ask for, and buy an unnecessary bed. Sounds like a bargain to me!

Fixing a genuine problem - fine, admirable, shows professional pride. Not asking first then billing - not fine. Not that they've billed for the extra yet, they're in this morning finishing off.

80% is probably more than 'some people', no?

Oh in other news, I bought a top of the range £280 vax carpet cleaner from amazon warehouse for £90, the description was a bit odd but it did state that it was fully working. When I built it I discovered that the people who had tried before had broken off the tabs that you fit the plastic storage stuff to so that couldn't go on. Still works perfectly though. The colour of the water that came from my light tan colour office carpet was terrifying.

My courtesy car is a Toyota Aygo.

It's fucking tiny I have the seat as far back as it'll go so I can still use the clutch and the steering wheel as high as it'll go and my knees still hit the steering wheel. Also, with the seat in that position, I can't reach the gear stick without leaning forward.

The whole experience is awful. I miss my car already and I've only driven this one about 3 miles. I can see how they can sell them for about £9k, it's made entirely of the kind of plastic take-out coffee cup lids are made from.

I think I should get 35mph out of it going up the mountain tonight! She's a racer all right........

I had a Peugeot 107 as a hire car a while back, which I think is effectively the same car. Terrible thing, and taking it on the motorway was terrifying.

It sounds like you should have your seat back more upright, although some cars are just a bit crap for the taller driver. Does the seat have height adjustment at all?

It also doesn't help that you are a tall woman, as you generally have a screwed up leg ratio as you need to attract a mate, and evolution has shown that dudes like a bit of leg... ;) Plus, cars are only really for men, so they are built with our body ratios in mind.

Nope, there's no height adjustment, except it seems to get lower the further back you slide it....I changed the seat back too but I was still reaching for the gears. It's just crap for long legged freaks like myself, I think. The compromise is to drive with my knees either side of the wheel, which looks really attractive

At least it sounds like a proper issue. Today's highlight here -

Is there anything you can order to block out noise opposite (some sort of board which is higher than the ones on the desks currently) - some people are soooooo loud, that I really can't pitch and it's putting me off and affecting my usual figures.

I'm driving a 110 mile round trip every day at the moment. It's actually quicker than my usual train journey to London, but less opportunities to watch TV on my iPad...

45p a mile though! woop!

I think we need pictures and a poll.

Does it have a sunroof?

:)
