I tend to pick from my collection and then upload. I think using YT videos is wank as videos tend to distract from the music.

I often press play and then scroll down so I don't watch the video... Most of them aren't the official videos anyway but I do see what you mean.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I'll have fun rejecting anyone who thinks a sax is a brass instrument though :p

Surely everyone knows it's woodwind?!?

The saxaphone is made of brass though. Any track that uses a sax would therefore make use of brass in its production.

We're talking about the classification of musical instruments, though, not what they're made of. There shouldn't be a saxophone in a brass band.

Actually, we aren't. Read the theme. It doesn't even say 'brass instruments' it just says 'brass'.
Y
Anyway, the sax being a woodwind is clearly due to someone being a dick.

Yeah, but it looks like a brass instrument, it sounds like a brass instrument. It fits in with brass instruments far more than it would a bunch of flutes.

I see... the admin is mysteriously winning...

Some darn close groups though. A, C, E and F all in the balance.

The only way to run a song wars is using an iron fist in a spikier iron glove. No punishment songs. If you fail to select a song in time you get nothing but a name and shame. If you fail twice, you're gone.

My own personal view is that punishment songs are fine, but in the event they finish in the points those points are simply not awarded to the player. This would stop the possibility of someone making it into the knockout stages based on points they received from a punishment song.

Scores and week 8 songs are up!

For week 9, it'll be the top two scorers in each group. Obviously we don't know who that'll be yet, so have a look at the scoreboard. If you're within 3 points of coming in the top two, submit a song for week 9. If not, you're welcome to submit a song anyway!

There won't be any punishment songs in the final rounds - if you don't submit a song, you don't go through. For week 9 that means I'll put the person below you through, for later weeks your opponent will just get a bye.

People who are still in with a shout, or have already qualified... (sorry, the stats nerd in me can't resist).

Group A
Malc
DerekFME
Findus Fop
Runcle

Group B
Grim... (Group Winner)
Bluecup
Applepieofsomethingorother

Group C
Trooper
Curiosity

Group D
MarkX
Malc74

Group E
Lagubrious Silhouette (Group Winner)
i'mtypingonakeyboard
Alarm

Group F
Jen
Zardoz
Pundabaya

So, it's 2 from 4 in Group A, although it would take a bit of a freak result to deny Malc.
Grim... is through by a country mile in Group B, with Bluecup only needing a point to secure his place, although APoD is still in with a chance.
Groups C and D are done and dusted.
Mr Russell is safe and sound in Group E, but it's still all to play for between Mr Keyboard and Mr Alarm.
Group F is a three-way fight between Jen, Zardoz and Pundabaya.

Stats Nerd message ends...
(Hopefully I didn't fuck anything up.)

There's a reason that no tournament in the world makes the group winner play against the second place from the same group in the first knockout round; it's super lame!

Put 1st from Group A against 2nd from Group B, 1st from B against 2nd from C, etc.

Playing off against the same people you've been choosing songs against the whole time is just rubbish!

I said the top two scorers in each group would be in week nine. I never said they'd be facing each other.

No. But if it comes to time to put together the next round groups, and someone's gone through but they haven't submitted a song, they'll be dropped.
