I forgot it was Protestant Pride Day! Every orange flavored marching band in Liverpool just marched past my window.

Ouch! My ears!

Too good to last - apparently my 17 hours of sleep Thursday night have run out and I'm back to being fucking knackered.

I've been getting shitey sleep the last two weeks, but that's because I've had a horrible illness that has involved my throat swelling up and being full of sandpaper. Also, children waking up at 4.50am and saying "No daddy, it's not still night time BECAUSE I CAN SEE THE SUN".

There's half a million urban chickens! Saves £22 a month on eggs. I don't eat £11 worth of eggs a month, I don't think.

How come I have to pay £2 for a EuroMillions ticket but the other Europeans only have to pay €2?

Rule of thumb for the last two years of working in Dublin. £1 = €1.15

So far my day has consisted of:

Being offered a new job, but only if I break my current contract.

An agent spending ten minutes trying to persuade me that instead of a new SharePoint contract, I really need to be doing a .NET permanent role.

Being phoned up and asked to send my CV for a "exciting" role, and when I enquired for things like location, getting the response, "we only give that information out if we have your CV on file". And then getting a bit flustered when I said "and so exactly how did you get this number, then?"

Trying to deal with the setup of this particular project, which redefines the meaning of "WTF?".

People have just had a 5 minute conversation in front of me about the spare tickets for friday and what to do with them, can they think of anyone else who could come, and not asked me.

MOAR PILLZ!

The GP's prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for phlebitis in the section of vein between where the layzorz and knives went. Glad I'm not just being a big girl about it being rigid and painful, with red skin atop it.

WTF is going on with gmail spam filtering these days. I never used to have any problems with it, but now i'm getting amazon confirmations, lottery ticket purchases and other legitimate stuff being dropped into the spam folder. Even if I have a filter setup for it!

Buckingham Palace Garden Party - GET.

This is one of those things that I would never have given a moments thought to as something I'd go out of my way to do, or even 'dream' of going to. But circumstances meant it was possible, and it was an afternoon off work, so we went.

Things that struck me. Firstly, the size and scale. I didn't appreciate it until we got there, but there were 8,500 people there, which is huge. Secondly, the lawn at the back of the palace is an opportunity missed, as someone really needs to get a cricket wicket laid in the middle of it.

Overall, it was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. Saw Liz from 15 yards away and got a cursory nod. Also, because of our 'circumstances', we were not served by the tea tent that served 8,000 proles. That one, you had one go at the food. We were in a separate roped off area, which also contained the royal tent, with 500 people (100 of them were for the royal tent). But our tea tent was only half the size of the one which served the 8,000. Return visits for sadwiches and cake were possible. I felt a bit sick as we left.

9/10.

I had that last week!

Except I only had the one. VICTORY.

Also, in a moment I've already stolen for use in a script, they kept asking if they were hurting me, to which I kept saying no, for the pain was tolerable.

And then a Coldplay song came on the radio. Cue much screaming.

Oh, also, they had two bands playing alternately at either end of the lawn. About 10 minutes before the queen came out, they played a Star Wars medley.

There was an esate agent near me called FFS years back. Closed now.

The one named STD was still going, last I checked.

Just a suit, which about 2/3 of blokes did. Given that we may have had to cancel at the last minute, I wasn't going to fork out for formal hire.

Also, no pictures. The invite said no cameras and mobiles turned off. I planned to ignore the phone request to take some photos, but remarkably, everybody else toed the line. I only saw one mobile communication device the whole afternoon, so decided not to be the rebel.
