I'm going to Whitstable to "eat oysters".
What the Hell is there to do for the rest of the day?

According to Wikipedia:

Quote:
The Whitstable Museum and Gallery displays artifacts and portraits relating to the town's seafaring traditions, with special features on oysters, diving and shipping

and

Quote:
The Slopes are home to the largest population in England of the rare Hog’s Fennel

You'll love it, I'm sure.

Buy one of them, put the new server in there, and we'll declare ourselves a sovereign nation.

When ever I see that picture, I picture them wading out of the water on their legs, making grinding, screeching metal-on-metal noises.

One problem with that, British territory now extends 12NM (I think it's 12 anyway) from the shore.

You could tow us further out, tug boat Wullie!

Anyway, >12 miles is preferable, more zombie proof.

@Doc G (obv): Who the hell taught you abbreviations? Call yourself a scientist*?!? :DD
*... & yes. I am well aware that I should have used M, but I reckoned the alternate abbreviation would make more sense to people what don't drive boats.

Smart thinking, although it's likely much cheaper to start again further out than try to salvage the thingys :(

I used to live quite close to Whitstable. It wasn't too bad a place when I was young, but it's not exactly full of life. There's some nice scenery, a few quaint old streets.

There's Whitstable castle (not a castle) that's open to the public, and also a boat down an alleyway somewhere that any local should be able to point you towards.

Those sea forts look pretty good but the humber ones are clearly better as they are older.

What's the purpose of a nautical mile? Is it more to do with how long you get reamed by the first mate?

It's not a normal mile - it's to do with latitude minutes.
