Not just yet, but it’s not good. Anything traded in USD has just become more expensive, and then when interest rates go through the roof, more people will lose out.

All this hopping over to Ukraine when the next fire happens isn't just deflection is it; he's hoping it *does* drag on for years. He's got a year now the no-confidence vote failed.

Turns out the Tory party said "hold my beer".

To destroy our currency within a week, despite the distraction of the monarch nipping out to the shops, is impressive enough. But to then say "see you all in two months"... The only good that could come of this headlong rush into a cheesegrater would be a Truss version of good old

I checked my MP's Twitter feed and she still has up all the pro-Budget "lines to take" she'd dutifully retweeted during the announcement.

I'm still trying to process the awfulness of Truss's local radio interviews this morning. So pitifully bad it's hilarious.

If that's how she is in a room with a local journo how's she going to cope across the table from Putin or someone? Absolutely fucking hopeless.

The government have decided to do a U Turn on their tax fiasco, and abandon the removal of the 45p rate.
They think that will calm the markets, but it’s only a small portion of their borrowing to fund tax cuts so I doubt it’ll help much.

In a statement, the Chancellor says "It is clear that the abolition of the 45p tax rate has become a distraction", adding "we get it, and we have listened"

The intention to introduce the 45p tax rate was the distraction.

With my cynical head on I'd say that distraction was exactly what was intended, and that it's quite possible that they were going to announce a U-turn on this all along. But if they think this will take attention away from other appalling elements of the mini-budget, they're mistaken.

Even the statement is wrong, isn't it? "We have listened, and we get it" makes sense. But no, can't say that. Instead - we came to realise it was wrong, and only then did we decide not to completely ignore everyone and everything other than the DickheadBrexitEconomistsofDoom.

As I moved to get off the train in Brum yesterday, I saw this fella and his trackie top. Not sure if this was serious, given the Tory Party conference was in town.

No, he can't have been? He was only on the radio just yesterday and he promised, 100%, that he'd still be chancellor this time next week.

I've just heard that with the recent losses and a lack of volunteers Liz is going to sign a mobilisation order. I'm expecting to be drafted to her new cabinet any day now.

It's quite glorious that the only times I'm reminded that Johnson's lot spaffed millions on a truly ugly press conference room is when political disasters happen inside it. The place is cursed.

Don't worry. The combination of the postal strikes and the government's inherent uselessness will mean at best you'll be too old when it finally arrives, and at worst railway minister of Peru.

The level of self-awareness needed to work that out, though. I mean, I can look through the party and see incompetence and worse everywhere. But worse? Tough one.

Mordaunt: "I'm sure there will be opportunity to hear from the PM sometime in the next 24 hours."

23 hours later...

Hunt: "I believe you have a message for the House of Commons, Elizabeth?"

Truss: "I surely do. What we are doing is I'M GOING NOW MY PLANET NEEDS ME." (ascends out of shot on a rope in herky-jerk manner to slide-whistle noise)

From £150 million Brexit-Bus fun to brutal 'economic decisions of eye-watering difficulty'. So glad all the hopes and dreams of Brexit they sold the electorate panned out so well.

Also, why is Liz smiling in that eerie vacant way? Erk, did she launch the missiles?
