Definitely worth putting the trap back out again, often more than one mouse.

Yeah, we’ve put it back out figuring the same.

I know, @Warhead! As I was setting it up the smell of the peanut butter made me accidentally eat some :D

Now I know what bait to use in my huge Mimi Trap in case Mimi gets into my loft space and won't come down.

Live catch, of course!

Second mouse is caught. The trap is effective at least.

Are you sure it's not the first one? It might have hitched a lift back with you after its day out.

Take it to where the first one was dropped off so they can have a "fancy meeting you here" conversation

Haha, I hope not. I think it’s about a mile and a half away that he’s gone.

Russell has taken her away, and he’s a creature of high habit and low imagination, so I dare say they’ll be going to the same place.

Gamify it. Mark each mouse with a different colour. When sufficient mice have been caught and marked, everyone in the house chooses a colour to back. If your mouse reappears in the trap, you win.

Or, mark them with a dot every time they get caught. 3 dots and they ["have a happy retirement"]

If you marked the mice, released them, and then recaught the same one later (after catching others) you will be able to estimate the mouse population. A similar thing was done to estimate how many tanks Hitler had, based on serial numbers, and also to work out how many prostitutes there were in Sheffield.

But serial numbers on Sheffield prostitutes sounds like a sensible stock management technique.

Indeed. It would help those playing Poke-her-man Go track what they've already "caught", for both meanings of the word

Yep, mouse the third has said goodbye early this morning. Just been back out there and there’s nothing so far but I’d be unsurprised to find a few more. If I had the means I’d get rid of the shed and build one up the far end of the garden. With a greenhouse.

Word has got out that you're offering free car rides to mice to help them start a new life.

I would drive that mousemobile.

We got in the car today, and I said maybe Darwin or I would drive instead. Darwin said don’t be silly, we aren’t old enough to drive (unlike daddy!) :D

No mouse number 5 yet (just checked) but hopefully by tomorrow. I guess it would be better if there were no number 5, but somehow it seems wrong that there’d be an odd number. Once there was a Number 4, I just assumed there’s be a Number 5.

Honestly if the mouse keeps walking back two miles from different directions each day then he totally deserves a permanent spot in the shed.

But yes, they’ve not all been the same size.

They'll have walked off some fat getting back to you, hence, they are different sizes.

Is it possible the mice lurk on this forum, and have mistaken Mr Russell's avatar for their God?

I've always built my own human mousetraps. A big red plastic bin with a book-ramp going up to the brim, and then a trusty piece of cardboard just stiff enough to take the weight of a mouse for the first part, but when they walk to the end to get the piece of chocolate / peanut butter the cardboard rapidly flops down under their weight depositing them within friend prison-bin. I then awaken to see the mouse gamely jumping up and down.

It's worked for three mice so far, and happily the big park isn't too far away!

I remember I ended up with a mouse in my bedroom as a child, thanks to absolutely awful cleaning routines (like most kids I rarely tidied my bedroom, but I used to eat all sorts of snacks and stuff up there and just leave loads of mess on the floor)

I have a vivid memory of hearing something move in the early evening, and then seeing my Jurassic Park branded swimbag move slightly on the carpet, so I picked it up and there was a little mousey bugger staring back up at me - for a split second at least, before he fucked off into the skirting.

Told my parents, and we cleaned out my room and we never saw them again, but my Dad told me that if I ever saw a mouse, the chances are that there are at least 10-20 more just out of view.
