No. And I've never noticed them before :)

I'm pretty sure my buttons are all in a circle on the opposite side to the mic. I think I have the v2 helmet though.

I don't think so. Are they real buttons?

No, not like the 'shapes' buttons on the pads, they're:

"The bottom of the headset's visor now holds four different buttons, on top of the speaker that was present in the original model. In the middle, is the new power button, which is easy to find even when you are wearing your headset. On the left side, you'll find a circular array which holds the rest of the buttons that have moved. This is where you'll find the volume adjustment buttons, as well as the ability to turn the microphone on and off."

Finished World 3: the whale level was amazing. For some reason I was really enjoying the waves splashing over my head, which reminded me of being a kid and sitting in the wave pool on holiday. Plus being blasted out of a whale blow hole was amazing.

Also, you ever notice how the music for one level sounds just like the music on iOS (and others) game Threes?

If this game doesn’t get GOTY over some of the AAA garbage I’ll smash some faces. Oh, it came out in 2018. Well, it’s easily my GOTY for 2019.

Got it home tonight. Took two hours and I genuinely thought it was duff as the TV kept cutting out with it connected but it turned out to be a bad hdmi cable.

Don't have my games yet but it comes with an Astrobot demo. And holy shit, it absolutely blew me away. More so than anything else I experienced with the OR DK2. Screen wise it's about identical, but holy shit I couldn't believe how amazing it was. There's just so much cool shit happening that it's hard for your brain to take it all in at first. Like when you move the controller into the sync zone and it appears on VR. The sticks move when you move them. It tips and twists when you tip and twist it. Then I got my first lol running around kicking the other robots in the ass. What I didn't know was what was happening to the controller. You boot them and then fly into the controller and land in it, but it's just mind blowing because it tricks your brain into thinking it's what you are holding on your hand.

I'm uber impressed. I can see the screen door but it's not life ending, and it's a pain to set up and store but bloody hell I can't wait to get my grubby little mitts on the full game. This is what I've wanted from VR. Something very simple but made to look incredible for the platform it was designed for.

Absolutely chuffed to bits. I can see me spending many happy hours playing that.

I’ve been playing PS+ “freebie” Here They Lie.

I didn’t realise that it’s a horror game where you walk along for a couple of hours and then it turns into a stealth game where you avoid creepy animal guys for a few more hours. And it’s a bit shit. Plus it’s got really low resolution textures so it looks a bit shit too.

I was going to preserve through it since I’ve just read it’s not very long but I’ve got this new outlook where if a game isn’t doing nowt for me then it’s getting deleted. So it’s getting deleted and I’m reclaiming the area beneath my TV by packing the PS VR away until the next Astro Bot comes along.

There were certain parts of it that made for good VR spectacle and atmosphere, to the extent that little bits of it have hung around in my head to be called to mind at odd times. But yeah, it's not great overall and was far too long.

3 things really pissed me off with it:

1) The torch. It seemed like it was supposed to be locked to where you’re looking but it was always about 10 foot higher in the air. It’s possible to move the torch light with the controller but ... move from a standstill and it’ll wander off somewhere else. Turn the camera and you’ve got no chance. If you turn it on and off it’ll recentre to 10 feet above where you’re actually looking. It’s just completely fucked and doesn’t work. It should have been locked to either the visor or the controller; this odd mix was clearly causing some technical issues that they never resolved.

2) Movement. Press forward and you’ll move forward. Turn the right stick and you’ll turn. Look to the side and push forward and you’ll move forward in the direction you’re looking rather than straight ahead where you think your body is facing. It doesn’t work: either keep tank controls or, well, I don’t know, keep the fucking tank controls. It’s confusing otherwise. Am I facing the way my in-game body is facing or the way my actual body is facing!? and the flashlight just fucks right up if I’m facing away from the camera. plus I hated the vignette which appears whenever you touch the right stick. And you can’t turn the fucking thing off.

3) There was a third thing but I’ve forgot what it was.

New third thing:

iOS 13 has made editing on the mobile site a real fucking chore. does it want to move the phone cursor or does it want to highlight entire words. Fuck. Off.

I was just about to pack away the PS VR when I forgot I hadn’t tried Wipeout in VR.

Blew. My. Mind.

That was immensely satisfying and bloody excellent fun. I couldn’t believe that instead of there being just VR specific maps, you can play the entire game in VR if you want. I’d only unlocked a few maps before I decided to take it online to see if it’ll work...it did! The whole game is VR. Incredible.

But I’d played this wipeout on the PS3 so I still packed it away.

Dipped into No Mans Sky VR last night. Looked beautiful but my god I forgot how much of a job this game feels like.

I'd love a stripped down version of this game without the grafting/crafting just exploration and shooting.

For that reason, I'm oot.

A Donlan spooge for Mr Another World's foray into VR. It does sound pretty bewitching.

Tried Star Wars: Squadrons with a pal last night, and was impressed by how long our VR legs held before we needed a break i.e. more than 30 minutes.

Must confess, we hadn't had chance to play the tutorials, so were a bit at sea (space sea), and spent much of the time getting blown out of the sky (space sky). Managing to win one Fleet battle, though my one kill didn't do much to contribute.

Really feels like a missed opportunity not letting you amble around with pals in Practice mode, without the pressure of a TIE fighter up your jacksy.
