Let's be generous. To all those people who decided to vote Tory and/or Leave. I hope you're happy. I hope the next five years brings you, your area, and the country all the countless riches you believe you will get from them. I hope you prove me wrong.

Judging by the local comments, I'm surrounded by idiots who have fallen for the 'Get Brexit Done' cobblers and have booted out the Labour candidates purely for 'going against the will of the people'. I'm clinging to the hope that one day, Boris' chlorinated chickens come home to roost when it turns out he can't get Brexit done at all.

I don't really drink during the week, but I'm on the wine and masochistically playing that old Brexit bus game. Simpler times.

A colleague and I were discussing his insulin requirements earlier and how much it would cost him under a US-style model. And our boss was apparently hoping to vote for a Brexit Party candidate but one wasn't standing in his area. I suspect there might be some tongue-biting on our team call in the morning.

To give an idea of how bad this is for me, I might not even buy a paper on Saturday for a results poster to put up on the wall of my mancave.

If there's no trade deal with the EU by the end of 2020, insulin stocks may run out before the tories have a chance to make the NHS PAYG.

(I know I take everything too personally, but the expected result of this election feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth... like the majority of the population feel I shouldn't be afforded the luxury of wanting to stay alive long enough to see my daughter grow up.)

Off to bed. This has been a dreadful evening, and I'm genuinely scared for the future. But we need to find comfort where we can, and once we get over the shock of it all we can start to find a way out.

But still. Fuck this. Fuck Johnson. Fuck Cummings. Fuck lying. Fuck racism. Fuck xenophobia. Fuck misogyny. Fuck those who enable it. We can do so much better.

Good night everyone. This is still the best group of people on the Internet.

Well that was hardly unexpected.

Well done Corbyn! you can console yourself that while your vote was small it was at least ideologically pure.

Well I'm glad I made the informed decision to get moderately drunk and play videogames last night, instead of watching the election coverage.

And it's the works Christmas do today so I can start drinking again at noon.

Other than that, what a fucking shitshow.

My brother actually predicted this, he voted Labour under duress but he's from the 'Labour Heartlands' and the 'Red Wall' that got decimated last night, and he said the Tories were going to smash it, and that people just weren't seeing how unpopular Corbyn and the current Labour party were among their traditional base.

He also said the 'Islamaphobia' claim worked in the Tories favour as mainstream anti-Islam sentiment is very strong, so for many people that was seen as a positive.

I think they are so stupid that they still don't know/understand/believe that there is a risk to you and others because they still think Brexit is easy and beneficial or at least not detrimental

Cardiff North Labour Hold.

That's about the only positive in a complete shit-show. I mean, I was pessimistic, but not THIS pessimistic.

Yeah, Labour hold here too. Although I'm not even sure that's a reason to be cheerful. It just means that a some deprived areas will end up getting an even smaller slice of the pie by having an opposition MP.

I feel hollowed out this morning, as if my daemon's been cut. Not despair, just empty. But it's healthy to mourn and work it through. Going to focus on the small things for now. Good people (eg Angela Eagle; Keir Starmer; Caroline Lucas) are still in the Commons, albeit in smaller numbers than before. I've tried to do some good today by sending some cash to a favoured charity. Out with friends tonight and at the weekend. Get refreshed and in time start to regroup. And there's still this place.

You're probably right, but that doesn't stop me feeling (subconsciously) hurt and (consciously) scared.

(I know it's not all about me, sorry. Worried for the whole country, frankly.)

My constituency (Greenwich) still has a big Labour majority, but that’s about the only crumb of comfort I can take.

Maybe now with a large majority Johnson will not be in thrall to the ERG and will move towards the softer policies he clams that he believes in, but I’m not exactly counting on it.

We can but hope that the Labour Party makes itself more electable, and keeps repeating those Tory election promises to make sure they are held to account.

Let’s get those 40 hospitals, 50,000 extra nurses, and strong NHS if nothing else.

Me too. I really shouldn't have fucking bothered with all of that aggro and paper waste setting up a postal vote.

That said like the first time I ever voted I can say hand on heart that if the country gets destroyed at least I didn't vote for it.

I wish Corbyn wasn't such a prized cunt. It made the decision far too hard.

Still I'd rather slice off my bollocks and eat them than vote Tory.
