Waiting at Bicester ('Town' - ed.) station for the train to Oxford for the first time since February 2014. Today will be the only time I won't gripe about the service.

Due to having very little in writing with this job, I don't have a date for when we finish for Christmas, or even a total of how many holidays per year we're entitled to. However, last year, my boss and I just had it as 'unofficial leave'.. not booking it as holidays, not doing much work and just being around a bit in case we were needed (we weren't). Mind you, even working out a basic minimum of holidays, I'm still entitled to probably 9 days holidays and my boss probably twice that, so I'm hoping when I can get this stupid project out of the way, I can start winding down a bit for Christmas.

Kerching! Last year I came in for a grand total of three hours across the three days just to make sure things hadn't exploded.

I'm off from the 16th and back in on the 3rd! Can't wait to get out of here for a couple of weeks. Although, my holiday plans consist mainly of tiling the family bathroom and getting drunk. Maybe at the same time.

We're moving offices this week so basically Wednesday on wards will be a write off...

I got ditched by a client today and even though he was not at all profitable I'm taking it really personally and feeling really sad.

So obviously I've drunk quite a lot of wine.

You win some, you lose some, Jem. It is inevitable that sooner or later we all lose client(s), and it's an awful lot better to lose ones you didn't make any money from. :)

Sounds to me like they've actually done you a favour; what goes by you isn't meant for you etc., as the saying goes. Deffo don't take it personally either, 'onwards and upwards'! :)

Who is Barry Shitpeas?

The name floated into my head but all I remember is him being mentioned by Chinny(?) but no idea what for.

If I ever need to create test data of people the first name on the list is always Barry Chickpeas, closely followed by Phil Cunk.

Thanks for the pep talk  feeling a teeny bit more sensible about it today. Might have to drink a bit more wine just to be on the safe side though ;)

It's a slow day in the office today so I've just been reading how to make a USB arcade stick from an IKEA chopping board, an IKEA kitchen box and some buttons from eBay.

Looks like a nice little project. I might have a go if I can get over to IKEA.

That lifehacker link was the one I was looking at. The PDF that the guy made is insanely detailed.

I've always wanted to make an arcade cabinet but I just don't have the room to put it anywhere. I might start with the arcade stick and use it on my PC first and then build up to the arcade cabinet when I either a) get a bigger house or b) build an arcade in my garden.

Both are equally as likely to be honest.

Is it possible to enjoy a night at a tapas bar without feeling ever so slightly shortchanged? Invited to one on Thursday and I'm tempted to be that guy who orders a plate for himself. Bah. Humbug.

You can never win when sharing tapas unless you're prepared to be the greedy person that has all the extra bits from each dish. Despite my natural greedy inclinations I'm way too polite and as such always end up having way less than my fair share of any communal food.

:this: :this: :this:

If it was all on my plate I'd eat all of it. As it is, I'm British and therefore must restrict myself to a mouthful before politely encouraging everyone else to finish it all.

Or you could add four additional plates to the menu, ensuring there's too much food for everyone to finish, and giving you ample opportunity to eat.

Also you end up with billing issues.

"How did we end up spending £35 each on a light lunch?!"
"Because that's what a light lunch costs, tiny person."
