I suppose it's worth pointing out that this facility (around 40 staff) is a subsidiary of a much larger (medical research) facility of around 650 staff.
We share HR and health&safety (WHS) resources with the big facility (or more accurately we use theirs). As a result, things are already a little fragmented - the payroll & leave system is separate to the yearly 'appraisal' system. There's a WHS system for reading risk assessments, then there is another system for WHS inductions and quizzes, plus a host of other HR related paper and web-based forms.... then I am trying to deal with the training records, only for my little-ish group, likely as yet another separate entity.
Oh, and did I say it needs to be good AND cheap? i no rite
At least I stood my ground and resisted my boss trying to get me to just 'knock something up in filemaker or something'
