Haven't gone 'next gen' (current gen now, really) yet, unless you somehow count the Wii U, but when I eventually do it's PS4 all the way. There's two games for the PS4 and 'Bone generation of consoles that I'd like to own and play, and one is going to be PS4 exclusive, so that's decided.

How are the media player functions of the PS4, incidentally? Same, better or worse than the PS3?

Slightly worse at the moment but are slowly improving - what would you like to do with it ?

Initially it wouldn't play video files back from USB sticks or over a network; I'm not sure if they've patched that in yet as it's no longer something I need.

Never used it but there is a PS4 Crunchyroll app

And for media control if your using a compatible TV you can use your TV remote to control the PS4 (my Samsung does) without needing a media remote

That was true for the PS3 as well; both consoles support HDMI-CEC.

From what I can see Ch4 are moving from 4OD to something else (4all) and thats not available yet

Interesting - I had a different TV when I was using my PS3 so it may not have supported it (I bought the PS3 Bluetooth remote to use instead)
