Finally at the third time of asking Asda delivered.

And it's really nice. Every bit as good as Barg's or A&W.

Very pleased with the Yamaha AV receiver, much better iOS control app for it too.

Got these a couple of weeks back.

Very good for the £50 I paid. I listen to football for about six hours of a weekend so I wanted something very light and comfy. They're useless for bass as you would expect but for football commentary they have been awesome.

I love this thread because I inevitably come into it without seeing what the thread is, and you get comments like the above entirely without context.

I don't buy cool things :( Although, we did buy a lawnmower yesterday. Shut up, they're cool!!

The last >£100 thing I bought recently was a 100kg Olympic weight set. It hasn't arrived yet, and I'll be dubious about the £3.60 delivery charge until it has arrived. It costs about as much to post and A4 sized letter to here from the UK!

I bought a jar of rice syrup at my wife's request, by all accounts is sugar free but still allows some sweetness when baking

She wants to keep our son off overlay sugary things as long as possible

We failed dismally at this last week when at my parents :DD

What are you looking to be sugar-free for? I'm only asking as rice syrup has a higher glycemic measure (glycemic index, I think it is called?) than normal white sugar, and about the same as pure glucose.

As above, it depends on the reasons behind the choice to try and steer away from sugar.

If it is just refined sugar that is the issue then there are easier to obtain alternatives in any supermarket that would provide sweetness for baking, etc. If it is for health reasons then depending on what is being avoided there might be better options.

I should for health reasons, they stick the stuff in everything... :)

I use maple syrup or honey to sweeten stuff.

My sister in laws 3 year old is still up all night with wind so she has been trying a sugar free diet for them all, or maybe not as sugar free as she first thought based on what your telling me!

So my wife just thought she would have a go as well, think she wants to keep our son as "pure" as possible before he gets out into the world of school and peer pressure for junk food and sweets etc

They should try an exclusion diet and keep a food diary if they haven't already. My son's "wind" was cow's milk protein intolerance.

They are working through that I think. Her husband doesn't have them on BUPA even though he is on it so its taking some time with NHS

Just bought two tools — another 18v cordless drill, as you can never have enough cordless drills! Also, a reciprocating saw, which I suspect I won't use a lot, but will be handy for those jobs when you have to remove and destroy existing fittings before putting new stuff in. This thing is a beast and with the right blades will tear through metal tubes, stud walls both wood and metal like they're not there, which will save a lot of time when remodelling rooms. In the background is some of the birch ply I bought a couple of weeks ago, which is slowly being transformed into lots of storage units.

Yeah they're pretty cool. We have Prime so it was a bit of a no brainer at £19.

I should add - four day holiday for my wife and I. Just up the road (2.7 miles away) haha. Never tell any one when I'm going.

What's really annoying is that I had volunteered to drive to our London office instead of going on the train as it would be cheaper for the company than paying £200 in tickets. Won't make that mistake again.

Just bought one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3in1-BBQ-Barb ... 418c13e7a1

I don't think it will be anywhere near to a decent smoker and wouldn't waste my time trying as it doesn't have enough air control for long cooks.

However I already have a better quality smoker which is the same foot print as this cheaper one, and when combined with one of these. they make a really good indirect cooker.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BBQ-Vortex-fo ... 2a4d326f6b

Vortex manual attached which explains what it does, Had some great cooking results with these.
