To answers Grim...'s earlier question, it depends.

ATW's controller tells me his drivers (don't know about others) can't use mobile phones unless stationary.

However, they do have the NRN phone built into the train which they can use while in motion.

It won't be the worst thing they've done. We had a complaint once that as the train left the complainant saw the guard in the rear cab with his feet up on the control console, smoking a cigar.

That reminds me of yesterday - there didn't appear to be anyone in the front of the train at all.
The train was formed of two trains, if you see what I mean, so someone could have been in the middle one. But I probably just wasn't looking hard enough, right?

The controls tend to be on the left. If there's a gangway it's possible to be standing on the right and not be able to see the driver.

Why do some big trains have names, and some don't?
Why don't small trains have names?

There are quite a few Pacers on the Valleys with names... one is named Myfanwy, another is named Sir Tom Jones. Not glamourous trains.

Tsk, I came to this trhead for pictures, not plane talk.

(If I'd been there, there'd be copious amounts of pictures already)

Hah!

How do you think I felt, though? I could have pocketed that £29 instead of offering it back for a round of drinks. I could probably buy a few hours of your time with that >:|

Remember to take inflation into account!

I quite liked the strawberry cider, it's just that it didn't have very much alcohol in it.

That's not what I meant. What I meant was: man up, people who did go, and take a better camera. Or possibly, what I really meant was: hey, look how surprisingly good my pics from last year were.

I recognise hardly any of those people on your pics, Doccy G, who are they?

Alternatively, exposure is difficult when your head blocks out all the light.
