I've played 2 of the maps so far.

The spaceship map is very good. Really like it and its well setup for team games.

The other map I tried (the big countryside one) was abit meh. Although it has lots of cover which makes fighting more interesting.

Not tried the 3rd one yet.

7 quid is abit steep but I suppose there will be hours of fun to be had.

What was interesting was the nag screen made out like it would be harder to find a matchmaking game, but what happens is the new maps have their own matchmaking. So that nag screen is rather deceptive.

I especially registered to see if the Reach thing is still on Tuesdays. I'm game because I love Halo in general and it consumes way too much of my spare time.

Now I tried using my gamertag Buckskin but it's already registered - presumably by me but I can't recall the email address to get my password back hence the re-registration.

I always read ugvm but getting a Halo night organised there seems harder and harder.

Anyway, if you see me online I'm probably up for a game.

Been playing Reach for the last couple of days - got the DLC too - the maps are decent. I've decided it's definitely better than CODBLOPS. Or maybe it just feels fresh again after a month or so away. That is all. Unless people want a Halo night on Tuesday 2011? Don't worry about the DLC, natch.

Hoping to pick up the extra maps when it goes on sale in the next few days. Also must start attending the Tuesday meet up

For the uninitiated. Myp is seemingly annoyed/attempting to wind me up because I stopped playing Halo Reach when CODBLOPS came out (a serious crime of treachery in these parts). Now that I've gone back to Reach after playing CODBLOPS a fair bit, I DARED to comment on it possibly being better than BLOPS (although, as I noted, it could just be because it feels fresh after continuous CODBLOPS, but myp failed to quote that bit because it would probably make me look like less of a "mong", and his anger/wind-up kung-fu wouldn't be as strong).

For the record, I think they're both utterly excellent online shooters, but right now I'm really clamouring for Halo again, just like I knew I eventually would, and said as much when people protested earlier in this very thread because I wanted to play my "shiny shiny" new game that I just paid £40 for (treachery). But, as this is the internet and nothing is ever forgotten, anything you said or did previously can and will be held against you forever and ever, an irony seemingly lost on Perkies when I accused him of spitting his dummy out.

I'm hoping this thread will continue to amuse throughout space year 2011.

You're right. I'm just jealous of people who can afford to buy new games. I guess I'll just have to dine on the foetid scraps I currently have.

It's up to you - you don't need them for Halo night though. We'd only play on the new maps if everyone had the map pack and there were no objections.

Which reminds me - the map pack is pretty good. There are three new maps on it, a small one, a medium one and a large one. The small and medium ones are excellent fun, but I don't think much of the large one. Except the large one is also set up for the Invasion gametype, which is when it's actually really fun. For regular team deathmatch and stuff, it's ruined by the vehicles you can find in it, which allow the team who gets to them first to completely dominate the map throughout. I think it needs tweaking from that aspect. In Invasion though, it's better than the Invasion maps we have already.

Ok I'll see how tomorrow evening goes & if I need to I'll purchase the extra maps

I have ordered Halo: Reachtime. Tuesday night is not the best for me, what with it being the designated clean-the-flat-then-eat-pizza-and-watch-x-files-or-house night around here, but I might possibly be able to join a bit later in the evening. Once I have the game.

Good game guys, cheers for coming! We had an even four so we got to try out some matchmaking. Hopefully more people will fancy a game next week though.

Also, there's a new playlist full of community made maps, which is fun. We tried a few and they seemed half decent. Who needs map packs?

Yeah I should be on - but today and tomorrow we're having a completely new boiler fitted, so I might be staying over at the girlfriend's so I can utilise her showering facilities in the morning, so I might have to leave early! Having said that, I'm not sure if we're actually going to be with or without hot water for the night yet.
