The Last of Us 2
The Last of Us Part 2, that is

I wondered how long it would take for "we're not going to make another game with Joel or Ellie" to become a lie.

If any game really didn't need a sequel, it's this one. The ending was perfect.
So long as there's a cutscene where a metal ladle turns into a wooden spoon I'll be sweet.
Stolen from Reddit but really interesting theory:

Theory Time!
The game takes place years after the first, the fireflies track down and kill Joel. Ellie swears revenge and on her journey she's haunted by Joel, eventually finding out what he did to save her and reacting to that either positively or negatively.
Either way, can't wait!
Why would she react badly?

Because she knew what would have happened to her, it was only him who was surprised and reacted
But she knows that already, surely?

She didn't know that to use her to make a cure they were going to kill her. In the final scene he only told her that there was nothing they could do.

So her reaction is finding out that he lied to her and from her perspective she may have been ready to die. That she's only finding this out some time later may leave her a little pissed off

I'm only spoilering because Bobby is playing this at the moment

At the end, Joel straight up lies to her about there being no cure, but there's some ambiguity in Ellie's response that suggests she maybe knows or has half-guessed.

It appears that this may be a spoiler for people that have completed the game:

The tapes the doctor left at that office-type place that you ride the horse to said they'd had dozens of subjects like Ellie, but none had ever produced a cure. Whether or not Ellie was special-special isn't something you found out (or, at least, isn't something I found out) but Joel could well have been telling her the truth, or at least thinking he was.

I thought Ellie told him that she knew they were going to have to kill her? Maybe I'm misremembering that bit.
Grim... was playing a different game to the rest of us, it seems. Also, please fix spoiler tags.
Grim.. played it as a Tank build.

It did for me !

To be fair, people who are playing / plan to play The Last Of Us should probably not reading the The Last Of Us 2: There Are More Of Us Than We First Thought thread.

Quote:
Joel drives in silence for some time, then a bit of stirring can be heard in the background as Ellie is seen waking up in the backseat. She asks him what happened, and Joel lies to her as he recalls the events that transpired in the parking lot; he had shot Marlene to prevent her from coming after Ellie, but tells her that the Fireflies have already stopped looking for a cure, and that she is not the only human immune to CBI. Ellie turns away silently in disappointment, and Joel apologizes as he continues to drive back to Tommy's dam.

Epilogue

Back in Jackson County, Joel is looking under the hood of their vehicle, and a still dejected Ellie lightly traces her infected bite wound as she thinks about their trip to the Fireflies' lab. Joel declares that they will be walking from this point, and the two continue to make their way to Tommy's settlement on foot. On the way there, Ellie stops Joel and confronts him about his version of events that transpired earlier. She expresses her survivor's guilt, mentioning all of their friends who have died and succumbed to CBI, and wonders if she could have done more to end the pandemic. She asks Joel to swear to her that everything he told her about the Fireflies is true, and he does. She hesitantly accepts his answer.

Yes, thank you.

Ah yes, he lied about them giving up on the cure. If he lied about whether Ellie isn't the only immune human depends on what you take away from the tapes you find, I guess.
New TLoU 2 trailer, this one's got a whole shitload of actual gameplay in it:

Man this games going to be sick, the story from the first one was amazing I hope they keep the same atmosphere with this one.
The transition in the trailer from lesbian action to brutal violence was done superbly.
I loved the first one then started the middle one that I've forgotten the name of but it just never grabbed me somehow and I didn't finish it. Hopefully this one will be good.

Are you thinking of 'Left Behind', the short stand-alone prequel thing they released? There's only been one full game in the series so far.
Yeah, that's the one!
I wasn't sure if it just wasn't as good or if I was just tired of the formula.
I really enjoyed Left Behind. Thinking back I played TLoU on the PS3 then I got the HD remastered version with the DLC when I bought my PS4. Fantastic game. Really like the look of the combat in this one.
Finished it three times on the PS3, then the DLC twice. Bought the remaster on PS4 for cheap, but I've not been back.

I'll put this on my Xmas list.
I got up to a stealth section that I didn't much like and stopped.

(see also: nu tomb raider)

Me, too. Stealth sections are for n00bs
Stealth games, with good stealth mechanics (thief, mgs, dishonoured etc etc) are a joy to play. When the game is less built around it, it suffers (see also: escort missions. Only ever done well in Ico, a game where it is the central mechanic.)
I should add, it's wasn't a case of deliberately never playing again, more a case that everytime I thought about playing it, knowing I'd drop into a duff stealth section put me off.

I got through that part of Tomb Raider but it started to bore the tits off me so I stopped.
Despite the fact that a couple of sections of TLOU drove me up the wall; I'd generally defend it's stealth implementation as being well done.

And God of War (the new one). And The Last of Us.

If the companion NPCs can't be killed then it's not an escort mission.

Where about is God of war is there stealth? Did I miss that bit and just smash my way through?

That fucking dog in CoD ghosts pissed me off. Pissed me off even fucking more when it ends the level if you shoot it. Animal sidekicks are generally stupid ideas with the exception of Shadow Dancer as that is fambloodytastic. Journey is shit, too, which isn't related to this but I wanted to mention it before I move on to npc companions. They only serve to rob you of XP. Stupid stupid srupid. And for n00bs.
He’s on about escort missions.

Whilst I think of it, those fucking stick figure families on the back of cars. Cunt markers, that is what they are.

Ico is beautiful and I yearn to play it on ps4

I thought they were verified kills.
Not played nu gow, but I'd hardly say tlou is a good escort game. I have a distinct memory of hiding behind cover, watching my escorted jump up and down in the face of oblivious enemies.
Plot aside, there didn't seem (from memory) to be much point to them
