I liked the story in fc3. At least it dared to be different, and Vaas was a great villain. It was unfortunate that it got so much heat from gaming sites.
Heat?
example:

They're just opinion pieces and I doubt they impacted the success of Far Cry 3 either way. And that notwithstanding, I'm more than happy to see proper grown-up writing about games because I want good plots and well written characters in my video games. Moaning about that would seem to be playing into the argument that video games can't and shouldn't be taken seriously, which is horseshit.
I agree, with you, and for all intents and purposes at the time RPS was still my favourite website. What I was arguing is that Ubisoft writers were heavily criticised for daring to do something different, (after all, what other game has one ending where your character dies in a sacrificial altar after having an orgasm?
), while the vast majority of games, even those with supposed "good" writing like Uncharted or Bioshock are lauded as cinematic masterpieces or whatever.
Obviously, the opportunity to shoot dumb americans makes FC5 even more appealing. But for FC5 to be even better, i just need 2 things:
- No minimap. Minimap is a curse. How many times we are looking at the minimap searching for icons instead of the screen? Just gives us a compass on the top of the screen like Skyrim.
- Rewards other than collectibles for exploring. Hope they won't be afraid to go even more RPG and give us rewards like weapons, armours, or even better, some hidden quests, for exploring.
