Yeah. Maybe not your sort of game then. The rummaging around and anticipation that there could be a firefight at any moment is the best part of the game! The fact that action is few and far between just makes those encounters that much sweeter. When we took down a four-man team and only losing two of our team it was a glorious 60 seconds of action!
If members of your team are regularly dying early, you're either landing in areas too densely populated, or you're not working well enough as a team. I think it maybe happened once to us last night in 6-7 games? One game we all died in 3 mins flat, which was amusing.
I think part of the issue we had is that two of us were rank amateurs (I was one of those....) and two of us were really good players.
So even though we were keeping together and working together as a unit, whenever the shit went down us two amateurs were coming off worse, and still asking questions about how to put scopes on guns and stuff like that. And once you're dead it's not like a game of CS where the next round will be along in a couple of minutes, you're talking more like 10-15 minutes.
I can definitely see the appeal of the game, but for our multiplayer hijinks I don't think it's quite the dynamic we're looking for. (The other amateur on our team was like, 'This is stupid, in Battlefield you actually start with the fucking guns', he wasn't sold on the Battle Royale concept at all.)
I have managed a 3/100 finish in solo mode though.
EDIT - And yes the skilled players on our team were guiding us down to out-of-the-way areas from the parachute jump, and we were spending time gathering resources, not leaping straight into fighting etc. But then when it came to fighting us two n00bs were basically just cannon fodder.
