:DD :DD :DD
This looks so good. Please don’t fuck this up, Netflix.
I've never heard of Altered Carbon and because of Beex, I'm not watching one YouTube video.

What's it about? Should I be watch it?
The trailer contains a naked Kovacs.

Takeshi Kovacs is brought to Earth by wealthy Laurens Bancroft to prove that Bancroft's first mysterious death was murder and not suicide. To do this, Kovacs must be "resleeved" into the body of a disgraced police officer to be on the case. While investigating, he develops a relationship with the police lieutenant who was involved former "occupant" of his body. To solve the crime, he encounters a number of violent characters, including robot killers in settings ranging from virtual paradises to seedy houses of prostitution.

Weird that he has the same name as you

No, you should drop what you're doing and read the book.

*Looks on in dismay as poop knife disappears round the U-bend.*

Thanks Grim...

Thanks a bunch.
This literally can't come out soon enough.

He needs to write some more bloody books mind.
I am ordering the book again

Why do you need two copies?
Altered Carbon Copy.
Can I have the second one please?
It looks like a few bits have changed from the book which at first glance seems unnecessary, but the general aesthetic looks first rate.

Really hope they don’t fuck this up.
I've read it .. but it was yonks ago, so the show will be like new to me.

Looks like i lost a copy in a move
So you've currently got... minus one copies?
ah a double post... doh.
They've jacked the price up on Amazon for the book it seems.
Ooh, it's a great sci-fi* book, I hope they don't fuck it up.

Heh, quite

We're over here with the other correct people.
Will it still be a musical like it is in the book?

*Waves*

Also, at risk of dragging this up again, Altered Carbon is a sci-fi book. The core plot is anchored around the sci-fi concepts. Unlike, for example, Alien.

Quite strongly disagree. It’s essentially nothing more than
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
a locked room murder mystery
which is a plot as old as Chandler. And it has strong sub-themes of
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
the dehumanisation of extreme wealth and power, the games played by the wealthy to amuse themselves, and the perilous state of normal people caught up in those games
which, again, is 100% classic noir. It’s a predominately noir story in a sci-fi setting.
Hmm, interesting. It's been forever since I've read it but I thought there was a significant chunk of the plot that hinges directly on the body switching tech.

Could you BE any more wrong?
Extra points for that being a Bing search

I mean, without it he'd get no points, right?

Yes, that's absolutely key to the murder mystery scenario.

As I recall, Broken Angels is far more of a pure sci-fi story, then Woken Furies has military and crime/heist leanings.

I'd love some new Kovacs-verse books. The Ringil Eskiath story never grabbed me as much even once it started to link in slightly.

Could you BE any more technically correct?
This book had better be good. Just dropped 3 large on a copy.

By any chance is three large also...three?
Three large is like, what, half a monkey?

Yeah, quids mate, no pennies in my game.

There's The Black Man if you want some more sci-fi by him.
Having now actually watched the trailer (on a huge screen in a teaching room ;) ) I am now excited for this. Audiobook queued for my next audible credit, also.

That's a really good book.

One of the most chilling openings in any book I've ever read, too.

Market Forces is okay, too.
And then, if you're somehow still upbeat and hopeful about the human race and their place in the universe after all that Morgan, read some Peter Watts.

You have to really suspend your disbelief for that one, though.
In other news: one week tomorrow!
