Belinda is back! And it's a corker.

And also S-Town is pretty damned incredible.

Yes, it is. John B is a quite astonishing person

Like Serial did before it, S-Town kind of fizzled out at the end, because not a great deal happened.

But not MDWAP! What a cliffhanger this week!
I'm two behind!
Not quite a podcast, but "It's a Fair Cop" available on the iplayer radio app is superb.
A serving police officer doing a comedy routine based on real life scenarios.
Audible (spit) has two Alien audio plays - Out of the Shadows (which is based on the book but much better) and River of Pain (which I've not listened to yet, because Audible (spit)).

Out of the Shadows was really good - the lady that played Ripley was spookily close to Weaver's voice.

I think this link will get it for you for free if you've not tried Audible (spit) before: http://a.co/6t8cq4I

Otherwise it's £21. £21!
Porno was proper gold this week.

Big titties Matilda!
Oh Christ, this week's Porno was amazing.

Go Des!
The Bugle was on top form this week too.
Athletico Mince.

I had a crack at it a while ago and didn't really get on with it.

They sounded a little depressed ("they" being Bob Mortimer and the bloke who does Get in the Sea.)

However, I've skipped to the latest pod and am now listening to them in reverse order, as they seem to have really hit their stride. I'll keep going until I get to where they hadn't found their stride and stop there.

It's rarely related to football and is more of a platform for Bob to go off on one.

This episode had me shaking uncontrollably :hat: on the train this morning.

I started listening to it and in episode 1 Bob says "I would start with episode 8 if I were you"

I tried it, didn't really like it but I do like Bob Mortimer so I may go back to it.
BBC Radio 4: Russian Bells

Fascinating look at the role of bells in Russian life and culture. Very appealing listening.
Cant remember if we created a radio thread or not but coming to Radio 4 next Spring - the next part to Hitch Hikers Guide

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-41594664
James O'Brien's interviews with Alistair Campbell and Robert Webb on his new 'Unfiltered' podcast are enjoyable and interesting listens. I haven't heard the first one with Russell Brand for allergy reasons.

As most radio shows are available in podcast form now, I've never seen any harm in mentioning them here. I think the BBC is cleverly slowly shifting its audience to them in preparation for a wirelessless future in 20 years or so (although I really can't imagine life without it). Things like the original 'Listen Again' helped open up the daytime Radio 4 schedule and most of the Third for me, and podcasting has widened my listening even more.
Timeshifting is the reality that broadcasters have to face. I reckon the BBC is currently well ahead of the game. The iPlayer basically defined the standard.
As a kid, I used to set up the alarm on my radio cassette recorder so I could tape certain shows. I would also waste hours DX'ing on the shortwave my parents gave me one Christmas. And then found the frequency of the analogue portable telephone we had.
Oh my, that must have made for some interesting eavesdropping.
Radio 3: Seven Ages of Memory

Using Shakespeare's famous 'seven ages of man' speech from his recent hit 'As you like it' to provide a structure, this is a fascinating discussion of how music and the mind work at different stages in our lives.
The announcer on Radio 3 gave an offensive language warning before this lunchtime's 'Private Passions'. That was a little unexpected and I did wonder whether it was going to be an s-, an f-, or a c-f-m. Good interview today nonetheless.

The Kano track they played was surprisingly moving, especially given the context for its inclusion, and not something I'd usually listen to.
Plumbing the death star is the current go to,. They're great.
The latest episode I have of Adam Buxton's podcast was very interesting. ep.5,7 Hassan Akkad talking about the sheer banality of some of the day to day life when fleeing war as a Syrian who eventually made it to the UK.

Spotify have two episodes since then which aren't showing up in iTunes, so maybe those are excellent, too.

If you fancy some varied background music, Radio 3's 'Sacred River', broadcast yesterday, is brilliant. Six hours of uninterrupted devotional/religious/sacred music from around the world. Only caught a couple of hours yesterday but am going to have it on today.
Peter White's interview with Adam Hills about disability and comedy yesterday was full of warm Sunday lunchtime niceness. A pleasant half-hour.
James O'Brien's interview with Bill Browder is a terrifying look at Russia under Vladimir Putin.
I've started listening to Pop Culture Role Call.

It's a strange title for what is basically a podcast about Buffy. Two people who have seen Buffy before discuss an episode with two people who haven't. The hook is that they all have a "character" - the noobs are Buffy and Willow, and the veterans are Xander and Giles. Each of them only watches scenes their character is in*, and learn things when they discuss the episode at the end.

It's oddly compelling, although I hope they tighten it up a bit (which I suspect they will - the two who have never watched before are just getting up to speed).

* actually, it's tighter than that, because when Xander was hiding in the library listening in to Buffy and Giles talking about her being a slayer in the pilot "Buffy" didn't know he was there.
Kelsey Grammer was on the desert island today. After all these years, I still love hearing his voice.

That was excellent, he comes across very well (...and his choice of the Beethoven piece would be the exact reason I'd pick it as well).

I would also implore you to listen to Sunday's I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue just for the game based on providing punchlines to jokes written by children...it cracked me up.

Worst Jason film ever.
Heh. It’s ok. We watched an episode from Monday the 4th and it was the right one. We loved it.

I currently listen to 'Remainiacs', mostly for Ian Dunt's swearing. Will have to give Brexitcast a go.

Yes
I enjoyed Mr Hardy's latest show on the Home Service last night, although he seems to be mellowing these days. The bit at the end felt like unnecessary filler, but that's only two minutes and not too detrimental to the act.

when he explains why he doesn't use his best material
I'm sure you're all already listening to John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme on the iPlayer because it's fucking hilarious, but a heads-up that the currently available Christmas episode has some particularly good skewering of Brexit/Tory voters using that old metaphor of 'turkeys voting for Christmas'. I mean, it's all very funny but that stuff in particular is a highlight.

His regular series started again last night. As brilliant as ever.

Gnu!
I felt like my entire understanding of the universe was turned upside down over that.

[EDIT: spoiler contents slightly changed]
The Prime Minister's Question Time sketch on last night's John Finnimore almost caused me to drive off the road. Superb stuff.

I listened to most of it last night while cleaning but don't remember that one so presumably I've got it to look forward to whenever I finish it off.
I absolutely was not shaken up a little and getting dust in my eye after last night's episode of 'The Archers'. Oh no.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
And now Will is going to be even more annoying.

I'm listening to Dirty John, a Serial-like. It's really good.

I enjoyed it. Genuinely sinister at times. Though I did my usual thing of having to look up the real person on the internet, as I had a set picture in my mind of what he looked like (Coach from FNL [he did not look like him])
I'll take that recommendation. Queued for download
Has anyone tried Atlanta Monster?

Did first episode this morning. I like it. Nice teasing, building style. Very much like Serial, as you said. More.
