Ah man, he was the star of the best bit of Babylon 5.
Enough of the Danny Dyer impressions.

:( Sad news. He had such a kindly face and demeanour.
It really doesn’t matter if it’s raining or it’s fine
Just as long as you’ve got time
To P-L-A-Y playaway-play, playaway,
Play-a-play, playaway.
Never mind the weather — get it together
The sun can shine and the rain can fall
Come on P-L-A-Y playaway-play, playaway,
Play-a-play, playaway.
Running down the road, strolling up the street
If you’re feeling happy tap your feet
Come on P-L-A-Y playaway-play, playaway,
Play-a-play, playaway.
Sitting on your own and you’re wondering what to do
Go out and make a friend then there’ll be two!
Come on P-L-A-Y playaway-play, playaway,
Play-a-play, playaway.
One more time — la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la-la
Come on P-L-A-Y playaway-play, playaway,
Play-a-play, playaway
PLAYAWAY!
Barry Norman
(must admit, I thought he'd already died)
Surprised there's no RED INK OF DOOM on that one.

:(

I think I was probably scared of Grotbags when I was young.
Everyone was scared of Grotbags! I also think that it's a brilliant name.
:(

I used to have a recurring nightmare about Grotbags.
When I was five or six, I was taken to a pantomime which had Grotbags in. She terrified me, as I sat gripping the seat in the dress circle. She strode up and down the stage, telling us children how she was going to cancel Christmas and break all our toys. I cannot remember what did it, what the breaking point was, but I was suddenly sobbing hysterically.
At the interval, my friend's parents took me home. I must have ruined my friend's birthday. Sorry, Karen P. But, Grotbags, you were amazing.
He'll be back soon, surely.
And Martin Landau as well.
Chester Bennington from Linkin Park - suicide

:'(
Really? Ah man... That's terrible.

Yep, such a shame. Really gutted by this.
Never really a fan although I saw them support Deftones at the Docklands Arena in 2000. Sad to hear he's left six children without a father though.
Deborah Watling, 69, who played Dr Who assistant Victoria Waterfield. :(

John Heard. The dad from Home Alone 1/2.

Was also good in The Sopranos.
Sam Shepard. I was wondering why the name didn't ring a bell, so I looked through his acting credits and I've only seem him in 'Killing Them Softly' - a film I can barely remember anything about.

Selling the whole 'celebrity' angle pretty effectively there dude.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and actor Sam Shepard appeared in The Right Stuff, Black Hawk Down and Steel Magnolias.

Who was 91... not 85. I thought the second bbc news alert correction was going to say he hasn't died after all. I remember him well from All Creatures Great & Small but can't think of who he was in the HP films.

Also wrote Paris, Texas which is one of my favourite films, and was in the magnificent Days of Heaven, the only film I can tolerate Richard Gere in. He was a great playwright in the Raymond Carver vein too. I'll miss him.

Hywel Bennett has just died too. He'll always be Croup, from Neverwhere for me. "Croup and Vandemar, the Old Firm, obstacles obliterated, nuisances eradicated, bothersome limbs removed and tutelary dentistry undertaken." But he was also sterling in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Wichita Lineman is such a perfect song.

"And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time."

Hell of a lyric.

I've just googled it and I can't honestly say I've heard it (or heard of it) before.

To be honest, until he died, I'd never heard of Glen Campbell either. I guess he quite a big deal though.

Amazing. It's very famous.

Have you heard Rhinestone Cowboy before? I had a backyard wrestling thing on the go once and we had a wrestler called "Bradley Flifer". He was a cowboy and came out to this tune.
I've heard Rhinestone Cowboy, but I never knew (or cared) who sung it. Really not my type of music.

<narrows eyes>
You like Western?
His 'Best Of...' album has a great selection of classic tracks. Gentle on My Mind, Galveston, Southern Nights, Wichita Lineman, Rhinestone Cowboy, Dreams of the Everyday Housewife etc etc
Wichita Lineman is one of my favourite songs. Pre-awful 80's tinfoil, old timey country music is acebest. Listen it sometimes playing *cough* American Truck Simulator on those lone desert highways.
About 7 people had Brucie.

Will update red ink of death when I'm at a proper computer.
Sorry to see him go, always liked Brucey.

Didn't he do well.
Evenings in the 80s over Nana's lying on the carpet in front of the fire watching Play Your Cards Right..

R.I.P fella..
Shame to see Brucey go I guess most people my age grew up with him in a way.

Also, one of that rare breed of TV stars from that era who wasn't retrospectively found out to have been a massive paedo, which is nice.

'Come on dollies, do your dealing.'

Neither was Saville until he was dead ;)
Well yes, give it time I suppose.

Then again, everyone knew Savile was dodgy well before he croaked, whereas I am confident Bruce has been up to no such things.
