I've just seen this on my regular trawl through the net. It looks good to me! I love the art style.
Fantastic artwork but the game looks pants to me.
I started looking at this when I saw a link from a blog.

The only thing that sets it apart is the art style. Is that enough to make it a good game?

Well, I wouldn't have bothered clicking the link if it wasn't for the pic, and nobody's saying it's a good game, just that it's drawn well.
It's a bit ropey to play in it's current form, sadly.
Hopefully they can hide a great game under those graphics. I absolutely love the style and would happily watch TV all day if every programme looked like that.
This is out today sometime and by all accounts it’s amazing but insanely difficult. I’ll be definitely getting this console exclusive on PC.

Here’s a bloke saying words about it while it plays in the background.

It looks beautiful but is so not my type of game. I'll watch someone playing it on YouTube.
Wow, 2014! It almost looks like I was ahead of the curve.

I'll be buying this and interestingly, it's a play anywhere title which means I'll be able to play it on my Xbox One AND my PC... Even though they're in the same room.

Still, it looks great and I played it at EGX a couple of years ago. It was hard but I enjoyed it so I'm looking forward to it.
I'd not heard of this game, but jumping to random points of that video, it looks great visually and the gameplay looks similar to Gunstar Heroes, which is certainly a good thing. Those bosses seem rather bullet-spongey though.
Shame it's not getting a PS4 release.
This is absolutely glorious. It's rock hard but I can't help but smile every time a new level starts. The graphics and presentation really is something else.
I like this game.

It is very hard.

My daughter thinks it's massively amusing to watch me die over and over and OVER AGAIN and say 'Daddy you're RUBBISH at this'.

So satisfying when you get in the groove with the mechanics for a particular fight and nail it though. Then again I am just doing the first few levels, doubtless I'll be ready to jettison my XBox and telly out of the window as things get harder. (I remember some of the more extreme Donkey Kong Kong Country Tropical Freeze levels sending me a bit loopy.)

The graphics, music, sound, and overall presentation are almost impossibly gorgeous.
It's indeed an artistic marvel, but i like my boss fights to act as a dessert. I don't like when they're the main dish. Not fond of boss rush modes which this game is.

Marvellous game that just isn't for me.
Have you played it?

I say this because its not been a boss rush game for quite some time: there’s levels, side scrolling SHUMP levels, an over world, vendors etc.

Yes, i did. There's some run n'gun sessions, but they are in the minority and really quite short. Bosses are really the real meat of the game. I have to try again soon because i got a DS4 which is really an upgrade to the X360 pad when it comes to the d-pad. It might give me more enjoyment.
Turns out I was mostly wrong, it is a boss rush game with other stuff as a side dish.

I don’t care though, it’s awesome.

We know the art and animation is amazing but the music, effects and the odd voice are fantastic too. It’s bloody difficult but I’m up for it.

Two worlds complete and I’m loving it.
Here’s a tip for newbies (cause it’s not really for casual gamers) immediately buy and equip the invincible dash move. It’s one of the first power ups you can buy in the shop.

Now use it. Never take it off. Ever.
Here’s another pro-strat: unless you’ve got a thumb like a dinner plate shift fire to a trigger (cause you’ll be holding it down continuously) and move jump and dash to A & X respectively.
The rat fight is so glorious. Werner Werman, I’m just reminded.

You fight this rat in his lair behind a wall all the while a big yellow eye keeps peeking through the cracks as you fight. Then the cat busts down the wall and eats poor old Werner Werman. As you fight the cat he summons the ghosts of his prey to throw shit at you. It’s so dark and funny and glorious.
Holy fuck, that penultimate boss. Anyone? Anyone?! ANYONE?
I love the game but it's hard. Very hard. It'll be a while before I see the penultimate boss.
Holy fudge, that final boss. Anyone? Anyone?! ANYONE?
Just you. No one else has the skills.

(or the desire)
You should: it’s aces and feels rewarding like smashing a Dark Souls boss.

Just went back and mopped up the alternative ending, found all the coins and purchased all the shop items. Most entertaining stuff.
I found it hard beyond the point of being fun and did not progress very far with it.
It’s not that hard. I completed the entire game in about 4-5 hours. I did the first and second worlds in about an hour each.
It wasn't that I literally couldn't do it, more that what was required to do it I didn't find massively enjoyable. I had it in my head I'd return to it at some point but never got around to it and then PS4 happened so the XB1X is now the world's most luxurious Netflix player.
If you’re going to do merch for this game this is exactly what you’d expect.
Can't figure out if that's your house or not. Did you buy that?
Damn right I did, it’s glorious.
A short promotional video about the making of this terrific game. It’s kinda nice to see how some of the things were made and not just the drawings.

I didn’t realise the soundtrack was on iTunes. Well it is! Some of the tunes are choons.

coming to switch in two weeks
My daughter has never played Cuphead, though she knows of it. That doesn’t stop her loving this song:

Gee, this is a hard game. I'm not great at stuff like this but I think that trying to begin at 11pm when I was already pretty tired just made it an even rougher landing.

I worked out the invinci-dash myself but didn't think about remapping the controls, that's a good tip, thanks.
