SDS drills are ace. Try removing a single brick out of a wall by hand and then try it with an SDS.

We were considering papering that boxy bit in the corner but changed our minds after faffing about cutting out a single blue stripe to do the edge of the wall next to it
The floor was remarkably easy to do, just borrowed the jigsaw from my dad. Not much left to do now, I did the finishing coat of plaster on Saturday so painting the kitchen this week (or at least Jen is!), then putting the radiator back on. New bed arrives in the next couple of weeks so our bed is moving to the spare room and we get an orthopedic memory foam mattress for us as well
So we should be set up to recieve guests within the next couple of weeks!

Skirting is the stuff that was already there but it's not the nicest so I am thinking of replacing it. Might just leave it since it's only the spare room.

DIY is definitely G-ing TFO this week; the joiner and doors arrived at 8.30 and he is right now hanging them. We chose and bought the handles (and picked the doors) ourselves, though! The same will be happening with the electrics later this month.

House starting to come together finally. Had to wire it from scratch which has taken a few weekends, but today had the fun part of fitting all the sockets and switches and light fixtures. It works! Yay.

As Kalmar says, either hire or buy an SDS hammer drill with a chisel bit. It'll still be hard work, but a lot quicker than doing it with a hammer and chisel.
Screwfix are selling a deWalt SDS hammer drill for £100 at the moment, which granted, [edit] is the metal geared one but is only 650W, but for occasional use it'll be more than you need.

I put up a new fence post and two new fence panels at the weekend! Those who've seen the innovate skills and techniques on show on my bedroom door will be thrilled to know that a similar level of skillful engineering applies to the fence.

I put up two new curtain poles last weekend. I've done it before, but this time they're dead straight. I also worked on the cable trunking, which involved some rawl plugs exploding, one of them very nearly blinding me

Here's a DIY related question. If I plaster my bathroom, how long should I leave it before I tile over it?
Same as with painting I'd say, few days/until it looks dry
0 Minutes. Saves spending money on tile adhesive.

I want a Splashback for my kitchen. Y'know, like you have round the back of fancy showers and stuff but you can get them for kitchens. I've got it in my own mind that a kitchen Splashback should be glass or summats, and I've seen a few here and there usually in one tone colours or frosted glass that you screw against the wall. They look all very nice but I want a picture behind mine.
So I'm looking for a custom Splashback for the kitchen in glass and I want to send my own hi res piccy of a moody tree in black and white and they'll knock it up and leave it outside my gaff after I deposit a small amount of cash in their computerised letter box.
That's the plan, anyway. Thing is, I can't really find anyone advertising this sort of thing about.
Then I come a across pimpyourkitchen.co.uk advertising exactly that. I got a quote; seemed very reasonable but then it was highlighted that they don't do glass splashbacks - they're a lot of thick laminate that you wallpaper to your wall (natch).

I once visited a pub that had a laminated picture of Philip Schoffield in the cubicle. It looked fine, people presumably gave it a wipe once they were finished.

Any glass place will do you toughened glass cut to size with beveled edges and fixing holes for cheapz - supply your own print or paint the back.
Not to sound glib, but what kind of 'glass place' would I be looking for? Say, if I was searching my local area.
Would a glass place mount the print and seal it (I'm assuming something like that's needed if its in a kitchen).

I cut a carpet strip up today, then screwed them to the floor in the right place. Looks pretty reasonable, thankfully.
I also tidied up the wiring behind the telly (not just telly stuff but phone, Infinity and switch for the CAT6 I ran the other month. Turns out we do in fact have enough wall sockets, so I don't know why I left the 6 gang there. Looks... well, it still looks shit, because it's an unavoidable horrible rat's nest. But not as shit.
