A good start so far (although some people might not agree).
I'm about to go and catch up on Italy v Ireland.
Two words. Sebastien Chabal.

That is the extent of my knowledge with regard to rugby.
I don't normally like sport but I love the 6 nations.

England did well last night and I'm currently watching Italy Ireland. Not exactly amazing... but solid.

I just wish I understood the rules.
Italy vs Ireland is a bit dull so far.

Ireland seem to be having trouble catching.
Slow start... but it's ending well
It certainly did.
Good ending but I agree with the commentators. Italy have come a long way!
Mrs Metal was not happy with Ireland winning!

"That's not even proper rugby," she shouted.

What is proper Rugby?
Rugby League, obv! It's what all the hard northerners play.
I'd guess "league"?

"It's just kicking" and "it's just like, you know, cheeky!"
Oh, you mean like how England won the World Cup in 2003. Yeah, agreed, not really proper rugby.
I think it's largely down to the fact Italy lost, yes.
Being an Englishman living Cardiff, this tournament is always good for laffs. Last night, I took great pleasure in quietly smirking at lots of my bellowing pub mates whilst secretly not understanding what was going on in the match.

Apparently the reason why Wales lost is due to the referee so on that basis, rugby is identical to football.
Cooking haggis for dinner didn't influence Scotland to win either, it turns out.

The Ref was biased to the bloody Welsh :)
Yay re: the England/Italy game, by the way. Especially the first half.
And the swan dive. More swan dives!

He has been told not to do the Swallow dive, but after his 4th try even MJ smiled..
Hourra! Prenez ça!
I feel sorry for Italy, they're playing really well, and they're alllmost there. A bit fitter, a bit more experienced and they'd probably be 2-1, instead of 0-3.
England are looking on target to win the 6 Nations.. With a 3/3 performance and the point difference..

I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I was at a wedding Saturday with shit mobile reception and a meal that lasted longer than the rugby.

Annoyed!
I only caught the 2nd half, I still have it recorded and will watch it this week..

Close result, but pleased they won!
Scotland v England this afternoon! When they played in the Six Nations five years ago, Scotland actually won the game and the Calcutta Cup. :metul: I don't think we've won since then but I'll always remember that because it was my first date with Jen :luv:
I was hoping to have a good day of sport today with the rugby then Celtic in the semi final of the Scottish Cup but the Celtic game has been cancelled since we're back to horrible winter weather up here.
Oo-rah! Grand Slam time!
Not if we play Ireland like we played yesterday....

Few upsets this weekend.

The Welsh quick throw in, that will be talked about for a while.

And bloody brilliant victory for Italy.... well done them, the have had a great tournament so far, just have been unlucky...

:this: but being welsh i am happy anyway, even though it was a blatant wrongness
That time of year again.

France / Italy - match was entertaining.
England / Scotland - A hard ugly match but a win is a win
Wales / Ireland - This was the match of the weekend. Very Very close match. I think that Welsh play will get cited for that spear tackle, and his 6 nations could be over.
Aye the dump tackle from Bradley Davies was just plain wrong, but on the plus side we still won :DD
Yes it was a good match.

Do you think he will play again in the 6 nations?
I think he probably will, but tbh i hope they boot him from the team as it was a disgusting challenge which wasn't even near the ball.

So who do you think is in line for the title this year? I was surprised at how well the new England startup did vs the Scots
I was amazed by the 'spear' tackle in the Wales game. Firstly because you can clearly see the point where he decides to murder his victim (seriously, watch the slow motion, it's like a psycho light going on) and secondly because the touch judge saw it, clearly, and still only recommended a yellow. WTF?
France I think have the edge.

We (England) have Italy on Saturday. I think the match against Wales will be the real challenge.
I thought that England were OK, just Ok. It helped that Scotland didn’t seem to be all that good either but it was only the first game so I’ll wait and see how they get on.

The Wales Vs Ireland game was great though wasn’t it? Really entertaining!
Well being Welsh i can't say anything but Wales have the edge...but saying that i think that France look to be the ones to beat this year

I'd have gone with England being pretty awful in pretty much every respect* but Scotland managing to give the game away via the single worst display of ball-handling I've ever seen in a Test match.

* - Actually, they didn't give away many stupid penalties at the breakdown, which is a problem that's afflicted the England team for at least 20 years. So there's that. Other than that? Couldn't get hold of the ball, couldn't do much with it when they got it, their tactical kicking was woeful (particularly from the scrum-half), every time Scotland got the ball wide they looked like scoring, there were at least three clean breaks through the middle of the defensive line and their placekicking was mediocre. If they don't lose at least two of their remaining games I'll be amazed.

Should have got 10 weeks but was reduced to 7 for good behaviour! 8)

I'm not sure I agree with that bit (I do the rest) - I thought they were pretty strong defensively.

Have they kicked the line-judge (whatever you call them nowadays) out for the rest of the tournament, too?
I hope so, the ref should have given a red..
Agree that it should have been a red....what a pillock
So a England win, and a postponement for the Ireland France Game, fingers crossed for a (Clean, with no more drop tackles) Wales win on the morrow.
How can they not have under pitch heating, in an international stadium.

According to the news earlier, because it's built on an old gasworks and they thought it may be dangerous.
