Rasslin'

continuing rasslin' DVD raises the question? Just how drunk was diesel/kevin nash through most of the 90s anyway? His incoherent slurring promos are genuinely painful to watch now and you can see it got to the point where the WWF production crew just went "ah fuck it, shove some black shades on him and lets hope he doesn't fall over"

Weee! Question is, who is left at WWE that's worth watching? Jericho, HBK & HHH are gone, Matt & Jeff Hardy have signed with TNA, Edge is injured... Wah!

No idea, I'm rarely up early enough at weekends to watch it on Sky 1 & I don't have the sports channels anymore :(

Shocking that he was the barber. Should have lost a match to himself and gone bald. Crap, too. Only had a job because he was pals with Hulk.

Regal and Daniel Bryan are excellent. They are almost enough to get me watching again. I could beat Edge up.
check the wrestling news sites on the 22nd of jan, Jeff's drug sentancing is finally going to go ahead.

CM Punk is the best thing going at the moment. He's great.

The Miz is also superb and can get the crowd to boo like nobody else.

Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler are also wrestlin' up a storm of late.

Seamus is always fun, and John Morrison is on the up.

I predict JoMo to win the Rumble and go on to beat The Miz at Mania.
My money's on a HHH return and win at the Rumble.

Distinctly possible. They do have form for doing such things.

Oh god. I love JoMo. He's my hero. Him & Melina are a couple in real life. Their children will be so beautiful.

Is The Undertaker still making the odd appearance?

I well want a Wrestlemania party this year :D

Yeah, after last years 3+ of us stay up & spam twitter with wrastlin' gibberish it's probably a good idea. I might even manage to stay awake long enough to watch the main event in it's entirety :D
Mini beex meet!
Taker's out injured again, after on of the most built up but shortest comebacks in memory.
Perhaps a kindly mod could snippy the wrestling stuff & we can have a wrestling thread? Sadly I am no longer married to a mod so I can't badger him to do it. Not that I am divorced, just that myp is no longer a mod. Obviously. Thanks :)

Occassionally I feel like I should give TNA another go. Until I watch it & then I realise why WWE is better. The camera work on TNA is so cheap that you can see people jumping to be lifted etc. And the women wrestlers are rough as fuck. Oooh which brings me onto.....

The Divas. Ah the divas. Who's your fave? I heart Beth Phoenix just a little bit.
I realise I'm fighting a losing battle here but I think TNA is ace. They have some talented people and for the first time in my life, I give a damn about women's wrestling.
TheVision wrote:

/sniggers
The women in TNA are definitely more like proper wrestlers, as opposed to WWE's models/dancers-turned-wrestlers (Beth Phoenix excluded, naturally).

Thinking about it, I'd go as far as saying the female wrestlers at TNA put on a more realistic performance than the male wrestlers.
Ooh decent female wrestling in TNA again? I need to check that out. WWE has never given a crap about the female wrestling. I don't watch much of it at all these days but if I do, it's almost certainly TNA. I just wish they wouldn't use the Dudleys. I hates them I does. The X division is often the most interesting part anyway.
My main problem with TNA is that its sooo.... stupid. Even for wrestling.
I saw the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan at Wembley Arena, when I was about 11. It was obviously the coolest thing in the world ever at that age! :D Used to stay up and watch the wrestlemanias and royal rumbles too.
It's not the same without the Ultimate Warrior anymore...
I agree... for me, wrestling peaked at Wrestlemania 6. The attitude era came close but I'll always have fond memories of wrestling as it used to be.

Massive blokes who clearly loved steroids and knew how to tell a story.

I was spitting distance away from Edge & Chris Jericho at the Nottingham Arena when I was 26 and I thought it was the best thing ever :D Wait...

Chris Jericho blew me a kiss. Seriously. I actually nearly died of excitement. :luv:
I stopped watching after about 1992, then picked it up again just before Diesel left the WWF and watched until The Rock started taking over.

I have very few fond memories of my second stint, but the first is filled with The Big Boss Man vs Mr Perfect, Million Dollar Man Vs Jake the Snake and Undertaker Vs Everyone.

The second stint... Mankind is about the only guy I can remember.
Ha... I went out to a club with Chris Jericho when Fozzy were touring the UK. He was ace and loved my accent.

Aww I went to see Fozzy when they toured here in May 2010 & they were fantastic. I'm glad he's a nice chap, I'd hoped he was but I had concerns about the size of his ego. :)

Did I ever tell you lot about the time I used to referee wrestling matches?

I legitimately got knocked out in a match between Al Snow and Steve Corino. I tell that story to anyone that'll listen!
Did you screw bret hart?
Decca wrote:

No, but I did do a show with him. He was a very, very nice guy... didn't have the heart to screw him.

I did steal some of Blue Meanie's pizza though.. does that count as screwing a wrestler?

Story please!

I really didn't used to like John Cena but over time I've really fallen for the way he whips the crowd up. The orange & blue Cenation-wear is like the modern day yellow & red Hulkamania-wear.

Speaking of John Cena, if you listen very carefuly during his match at Wrestlemania last year against Batista (who incidently I haven't missed since he left WWE!), you hear Cena say "Knee me in the back", then moments later Batista knees him in the back. Funny that!
Doncaster was home to 1pw for quite a while. When the bottom fell out of it they sold off a load of their stock of DVDs to me at three for a pound. Or possibly less. I know 1pw are still going but they don't seem to be around here these days.

I've still got most of that stock left. It doesn't sell very well.
Well, I was working on a show for 1PW. A wrestling organisation based in Doncaster that used to bring over loads of American stars... Anyway, Al Snow and Steve Corino were working out there match backstage. I wasn't supposed to be involved in it but they called me over and told me to do a run in when the regular ref got knocked out.

After this, Steve Corino was going to try to hit Al Snow with a clothesline but Al was to move and Steve would hit me and send me over the top rope to the outside.

This happened as planned except I wasn't aware of how hard Steve would hit me... It was like being hit by a car to the chest! All I remember is a dull thud noise and then I ended up outside the ring.

I thought I was on the floor for about 30 seconds but it was actually the remaining 10 minutes or so of the match.

When I came to I recall looking up at the ring and thinking "Oh, there's Al Snow... what are all these people shouting about?"

Amazing... there was also the time that Doug Williams kicked me in the knackers by mistake but that's not as amusing as the Steve Corino story.

Here's me.. on the floor...
That's a brilliant story :D I often wonder how when the refs get "knocked out" they manage to lie so still for the rest of the match, if it was me I'd be trying to sneak a peek at the action. It never occurred to me they might actually be knocked out for real :D
I'm watching TNA lockdown 2010 right now (The lockdowns always seem quite enjoyable) and I'm disappointed to see the return of the square ring. I liked TNA' s funny ring. I hear Hogan is to blame for this.

The first match of RVD vs James Storm was boring.
What channel is TNA on now? It used to be on Bravo but I understand that has gone boom.
Is it on TWC? I don't really know as I got it from the Usenet channel.

Also mr thevision, OOF!
Wasn't some of it on Extreme Sports Channel and some on bravo - I know sky have bought out all the old shows and they are trying to find new homes for them - they put sparticus on sky HD already.
The word is that TNA will return but they don't know when, or which channel.

It's ok for stuff like Sparticus and Dog the bounty hunter as they are normal series and can just pick up where they left off. TNA, being shown weekly, means the longer Sky take.. the more the fans will miss the weeks of wrestling..
I liked Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay. Possibly to the amazement of BeeX.
The Vision is my new best Beexer ever.

Decca's list starts off really well, but plumments downhill just after she says "present day".

Road Dogg?
Paul Bearer?
Hornswaggle?

I'm struggling to comprehend the awesome of this.

:D I also enjoyed some of the silly novelty acts, like when Kaientai were 'evil', and The Hurricane during the invasion.

Kurt Angle was probably my favourite of what I think of as 'recent' times, but then I stopped watching very shortly after the post-invasion split between raw and smackdown.
What Malia said. Fantastic story, TheVision.
:smug: I love you all too.

I'll see if I can get the clip of me being hit to put on YouTube... Just to extend my new found fame a little longer. ;)
