Bad Album Covers

Well I guess we could all do with a good laugh so I am giving you all the following link:

The site features some bad album covers. I was in stitches, but it was late....

EDIT: PLEASE NOTE - if you hot link to a picture the host may block it. The visual aspect of this thread makes such an occurrence significant.

Mr Dave reached number 82 in 1986 with his seminal album "Zip Zap Rap".
I've got that song on my PC at work - it's an anti-drug song. Remind me on Monday and I'll upload it.
Image

Fuck yeah!

[edit]Is that Tony Blair on the left?
Is that not copyrighted material, then?

*oooh controversial*

;)
Right, no song. Sheep-face's fault.
If it is Tony, then it's Hulk Hogan or Sean Connery on the right.
Sorry everyone. Don't lynch me.

:smug:

This is my favourite. Mostly because the hunky blonde Swede is returning home to his beautiful but huge blonde family with his uneaten lunch and an axe. I assume to murder them all.

I quite like 'sensuous black man meets sensuous black woman', (This link is NOT worksafe), though - mostly becasue whoever cut and pasted that man's head on someone else's body made it far too small, and the wrong colour.
I've already posted this in another thread, but I shall post it here as well, as it's that stunningly bad.

Also, these, which I actually own -

Oh, and this classic:

If I could get hold of that I would frame it for my wall.

He needs to see a doctor, something appears to be very wrong with the end of his willy.
I'm (edit) linking this, because it's actually unpleasant.

God Dethroned
Also

Brujeria

I'll stop now, as some of the grind stuff I've seen is terrifying. The Suppository/Grot split comes to mind.
Someone did say to me the other day than any pictures contained within spoiler tags are still loaded into the computers cache, or something like that, which is why I posted only a NSFW link to the naked people picture, which might be a good idea if the images are particularly gruesome in a way that might not be work safe.
Good point, edited mine to links. I don't think they're that bad, but I'm possibly desensitised.

Not actually a cover, but this is hilarious, in a slightly chilling 'no, they really are Nazi' way.
I read that point, Meems, but on my system at least it's loading the linked pictures only when I click the Spoiler tag...I can see it loading them in as I click.

Of course, linking's safer if anyone's computer is acting in that way.

Man, that's positively professional compared to Morbid Visions.

And I couldn't be bothered going through all million pags of that site, but this should remain my most hated album cover for a long time:

Stu was in the Barenaked Ladies?

Did you ever get around to making an album?:

This joke will *not* wear thin.
It won't if I don't get it...

I don't really know how it works, Sheepeh, I guess it is like pre-loading expanded images for a page with thumbnails, or something. I can't remember who said that about the spoiler tags in another thread, but I assume they said it because they had the images in their cache, or something.

I've been putting it about that you represented Finland in the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with your own composition "Pump Pump":

Of course some covers are so familiar we forget how bad they are:

EDIT: This was a picture of Oasis's 'Morning Glory' L.P.
Is that that bad, then?

Well it's hardly inspiring.
Yeah but, compared to the Barenaked Ladies one?

Well that one's an immediate fail on the grounds of having a complete lack of barenaked ladies on the cover.
At least the BNL turned up for it. I recall Noel Gallagher taking about the cover. He kept ringing the artist to see how it was going and kept being told that it was looking amazing but he couldn't describe it, he would just have to see it for himself. "Wow" he thought "it must be something like Disraeli Gears." But no, just two out of focus blokes walking down a street.

But we are't talking skinned and gutted animals. Obv.
Maybe they're out of focus because that actually have morning glory.

neither were oasis after that album.

Y'know, it's fascinating. I've been watching The World at War, and none of the Germanic soldiers of the Wermacht looked anywhere near as retarded as the people on these sorts of covers. I guess the camera must have been purposely selective, or they put the thick-necked idiots in the 'first attacking wave' at the machine guns early on, or something.

Yup, it always amazes me how hideous and soul-shrivelled neo-nazis look. At least in the old days they were sort of handsome and soul-shrivelled. Er, I say that objectively of course, and not in a "Phwooar! The Sixth Army and SS Panzer division, eh lads?"

Christ, I'm drunk.

Wow, it's like the music equivilent of that skateboarding computer game one. You know the one. Yes. That one.

And I have to say, I think that Louvin Brothers 'Satan Is Real' one is fantastic on many levels. YES. It is ace.

I'm afraid you are.
This is clearly a great album cover, they are wrong:

This is clearly my nightmares summarised. FEAR:

By the way, due to an idiot ordering in a Scorpion's album (the one with the gooey bloody dissolve in hand breast in the back of the taxi) I was forced to heavily customise it with a sticker I made covering the icky bits. The sticker also subtly disparrages the band. I am pleased.
wait a second thats michael douglas if falling down was the opposite way round and he became a priest because the neverending wait in traffic triggered not hatred against everyone else but instead a need to solve their angst with jesus.
I think it was in the directors cut.
I love the fact the wear of the vinyl has created an aura of a ring of smoke around him aswell.

It's actually a really good album as well. If you like 50s close harmony country gospel, that is. Which I, er, do.

Edit - Or maybe 60s. Can't quite remember.

Choking on laughter. Damn you. 9.5/10.4

I also like close harmony country gospel. I'm currently addicted to this Dolly Parton bluesgrass album as well, so fear not. I haven't heard the Louvin Bros one but I'd quite like to. Might see if I can get it for the library.

Reminds me of the time when this kid at school tried convincing the rest of us that - in the aftermath of the albums release - 'what's the story?' was now a phrase regularly used (outside the context of Oasis records) in British society.

I hated that bastard.

P.S. Nice to see the Barenakeds resonating on this board.
Not to turn this into an Oasis thread but Wiki et al seem to describe the album as being critically lauded upon release when it was far from it. Both Q and NME gave it mediocre reviews describing it as sloppy drug addled noodling crap. However after selling 8.9 Trillion copies they seemingly forget all about this when handing out the end of year awards.

Yeah, well, when you come from Balamory it's certainly true.

Is that barenaked ladies album called Gordon? I'm finding it very hard to read the text :nerd:
Yeah, Gordon. Sadly I think they later wussed out and changed the cover:

Image
It's almost a mystery as to why that change would upset me... perhaps I want that diabolical sight to hang from their collective neck as long as they continue. I recently found out they have a new album out.
I've got the original Gordon cover on my wifes copy of the CD.
That BNL album cover - I'd never seen it before. It beggars belief.
