Wordle, Digits etc - Simple daily puzzle games

This feels like it would be right up Beex’s street.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

It’s a one a day puzzle where you have to guess the five letter word in six tries or less, very similar to the Mastermind board game from the 70s.

If you get the right letter in the right place, it shows green. Right letter in the wrong place and it shows red.
Got today in 4 tries.
It's nice. But - red? Am I colour blind?
I’ve been playing this the past few days, and I’m pretty good at it I think. It’s green and yellow for me also.

It was early. Wasn’t fully awake.
Ooh yeah, love Wordle. I'd already done today's on my phone, so I'm just testing if the handy emoji results service works on Beex

Edit: It does not :(

Wordle 198 3/6

This also seems to be the mechanic of Lingo on ITV, which we tried an episode of.
I'm on an 8 day streak!
I noticed there is a 'hard mode', and I don't think I'll be trying that yet as I still like to use a turn or two to eliminate a bunch of letters quickly.

I also noticed that the Google Play store has a couple of games called Wordle, none of which are the one we are talking about here.

There's a high contrast mode too, for anyone that may bot be able to tell what colour the dress Kovacs trainers are.
And now there’s a four letter version.

In dutch we call this 'lingo', was on dutch telly for 20v years, then cancelled.. but now back, with a fun reason: courses which teaches immigrants dutch used the programme to teach dutch..

Looks like this one is buggy. I had a green O and a yellow O and I tried all the positions for the second O but none were correct, so that makes me think it isn't 'resetting' when you get the letter right.

Could it have been a double letter?

It looks like if you try a double letter, but it's only in there once it will show you both a green and a yellow.
Two double letters, when I tried it (and failed)!

I was wondering today, how it would handle words with two of the same letter (I'd assumed the simple way would be just to avoid them).
It should have a time limit or something, otherwise it just feels like "how long can you be arsed thinking about this?"
US spelling today. >:( Absolute Bullshit!
Are you saying you didn't get it? I had three letters and it took some puzzling. But I seem to be good at narrowing it right down to get it on the fifth go, but never, since the first day, earlier.
Of course I didn't get it, because I was looking for actual words, correctly spelled IN HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN'S ENGLISH!
Bloody colonials!
I've written a little script to solve these and it works fairly well. It's pretty dumb at the moment - it doesn't handle repeated letters too well and it just guesses at the next word to use rather than being smart about it, but still a fun project.
A nice little companion for Wordle from this week's Popbitch. WikiTrivia, a drag and drop timeline game.
I got a 2 today on this!

:this: (pleased - fluked one before, this was still lucky but involved a bit more thought).

Current thought: is it possible to solve Wordle using only the results people post to twitter? I reckon so, but it needs more investigation.
And now, Nerdle

Similar concept, but with maths

https://nerdlegame.com

Pasting the results here causes a SQL error though
And now bought by the nytimes
Well, my usual starting word got 3 correct in the correct place, and one correct in the wrong place... You'd think it was easy from there.
And there’s a countdown style maths game too…

Oh yay, another daily game to get addicted to (:
I got it pretty easily, but I put that down to beginner's luck and not any sort of skill with maths

Did you do all of them? First few were easy, but 413 (last one) got me, only got 412 - need to retry it >:(
No, I just did the first one :D
I got it in the end (I wouldn't have got it in the countdown timer)

I can share my method in a spoiler if you wish?
That’s good fun. I got them all quickly, but probably beginners luck.
Oddly I tend to struggle most on the 4th set.

I did watch a youtube video before about someone working out all the combinations for the number game and how many were solvable by different numbers which helped me with all of these - the idea given was a golf analogy , you multiply up some numbers to get close (pitch) and then use the other numbers to get to the end (putt) and you can refine your pitch by using the small numbers first

So instead of multiplying by 75 you take a smaller number off and multiply by 72 or similar and thats how i got to the last one on here

It is 40 minutes long but if you like numbers then :

That's basically what I do usually; feel like I'm missing something obvious on 413 though!

So very slight hint that I'll stick in a spoiler for that one

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
So my first takes on this did not get it and thats because i was going above and subtracting the answer for me was to go below and add
Your spoiler is what I'm doing too :DD reckon I'm going to kick myself on this one :S
I'VE GOT IT! God that took forever :DD
As a moderate cheat, you can always look up factor pairs for the target. If one of them happens to be a number you have in the set of 6 (or you can get to easily) that makes life a lot easier.
Someone in my board game group was recently on Countdown . His episode is yet to be broadcast but he really doesn't like us referring to maths or spelling whenever we can.

Which is now all the time.
Tch, sum people.
