Utterly pointless and unnecessary.

I want some so very much.
They'll never come out.
You can get remote controlled LED bulb's on eBay already.

Thought about getting some for my disco room studio.

Can I control them over the internet? No? Not interested.

Can you control more that one bulb with the remote or is it 1 remote to 1 bulb?
These look exactly like something that you would play with for about five minutes, then just use as ordinary bulbs for a while after you get bored of having disco lighting in every room and then finally swap for normal bulbs because they're actually a bit shit.

I have no idea.
Found some more EBay auctions for these and called a guy, he said you can control more than one.

They need to be in the same room as the remote has limits and also all the bulbs would have to be the same colour at the same time

I may order 8 as my house is full of recessed spot lights (3W RGB GU10 type)

My wife is not keen, at the last house we had I replaced all the ligh switches with infra red dimmers and controlled the lights from the all in one remote

She made me promise not to do this in our current house.
Hehe, this glimpse into the future from the Forum Past Predictatron is quite funny. Anyhoo, I have just found out that you can get WiFi enabled irons.
I bought some remote controlled lights from Ikea and they're ace. I should have put the remote control higher up though as my girls keep on messing with it.

Not internet enabled however.
My Hue setup:

Actually, that's outdated, I have three more lights and one more controller in the office now.
Oh, that's only the lights. I also have ~8 switches and 4 motion/temperature/light level sensors.
All our lights are internet ones, apart from one in the centre hallway. I like bring able to turn them on and off when I’m away, also to turn Darwin’s light on from my bed, so he gets up and comes into my room to watch Hey Duggee when he’s woken up without me having to get up myself.

This aged well :D
I’m not a big fan of IoT in general, but lighting is definitely a brilliant use case. I think we’re going to get some Hue bulbs at some point.

Is the starter kit a good place to…ahem…start?
Yep. Wait for Amazon black Friday or a sale on meethue.com - last black Friday there were ~40% discounts on Amazon and a 3 for 2 on the website. Makes them "affordable".

Worth the premium just for the smooth on/off fades.

To be fair that's pretty much my opinion of them.

They're all right.
