There is one race live on free TV this year, and that's Silverstone, all the rest are highlights.
Only 50% of the channel 4 show is allowed to be on track action, not allowed to do interviews with the drivers post race in "the pen", not allowed to do a grid walk, Karun chandock has left to join sky. JB has joined sky as a pundit.

What a load of shite.

Sky have generously split the F1 channel away from the sports package for a bit, so you only need to pay £10 a month to watch the races, rather than £33...so that's alright then...

Yeah, that's a bit of a shock!

If you already have Sky. It's £33 on Virgin, which is actually more than a Sky subscription (£22) and the £10 extra for F1!
Fuck that noise. What's the best way to watch it for free?
Also the Netflix documentary is really good. It's got me quite hyped for the new season. Just not nearly hyped enough to pay thirty odd quid a month.

There’s a motorsport streams Discord server I’m a member of. I could try to invite you?
I used to watch every race avidly back in the day, and I don't even know who won the championship last year. That's how pointless and boring F1 has become.

It seems to be cyclical. I watched avidly in the late 80s/throughout the 90s, then lost interest during the dull Schumacher domination years. I started watching casually again when Alonso won his double, and got back into it when Hamilton first appeared. Then lost all interest again when it was the Vettel procession show. I came back to it once they changed to V6 turbos but after Mercedes became dominant I lost interest again.

Well, the Race Director position just opened up.

Caveat: I don't know how good it is for F1 as I haven't watched in a few years.

Reddit appear to be cracking down on these as r/soccerstreams and r/cricketstreams have been shut down recently. It’s all moving to Discord for now (until they start banning them of course).
I'm going to stick with Channel 4, and the occasional race on live Sky 1, as they like to do that once in a while, to try and get folks to spend extra money.

I love the idea of F1, I like all the buildup and chat and rule change reviews, driver shenanigans etc... I usually fall asleep during the race though, so just highlights is probably a good thing for me! Assuming I can stay away from spoilers.
Yeah that's it, I always forget and check the news feed on my phone at some point during the day.
I used to love F1 on a sunday when I was young, free and single. I could sit my ass down for 4 hours with Murray Walker and watch Damon Hill duke it out with Schumacher in peace.

Ah, good times.
Damn it! I woke up and checked the news as usual. I now know who is on pole...
Seven tenths.

That's a rather large amount.
For actual racing, I've been watching ITVs BTCC coverage, which includes the support races which are fucking excellent. Mini racing in particular. More action in the 10 laps round Thruxton than in an entire F1 race.
Seconded, btcc is properly exciting once you figure out the rules

This thread'll do.

I think that if at every pit-stop the drivers run out to the bathroom and wash their hands for twenty seconds, it'd be cool right? They could have a camera showing them at the sinks with a timer in the corner, and pit-stop guys ready to turn the taps and towell off.

In what looked like a crash from the 50s or 60s, Grosjean’s car went through the crash barrier, broke in two and erupted into a huge fireball.

And he survived with a couple of broken ribs and some minor burns. Incredibly lucky and some superb engineering to make that survivable.
This thread will do.
