Oh right, well. In that case fuck you buddy!
Beex 1 v Beex 2 showdown to prove we are the best?
Which one are you in?
The far superior Beex Club Version 2.0.
Well that's them fucked.
See, we're inclusive and build our members up. This is why I chose Beex Hard 2: Beex Harder
Free Japan DLC hits today.

When are we having a race in your face session?
I reckon the wife will be in bed early tonight, so I could go a late night session. Then after, we can do some driving.
I am out tonight, sadly.
New Japan tracks are gorgeous. This is fast becoming one of my favourite racing games for ages. The handling of the cars although simplified still feels true and consistent in a way that most arcade racers don't. The cars never feel as though they are artificially locked into power slides like they are in need for speed. The structure is great too, there's just no fucking around whatsoever. Also that you can pick a car and a track (and I'm so glad they it is tracks rather than another open-world racer because those are shit) lay down a time and then send a challenge to a friend.
Good job we didn't all arrange to play last night as even on Virgin that download crawled for me.

Early days but I'm liking this too. Sensible enough to not be a pure arcade thrash, but a million miles away from the beautiful but boring GT, which put me off 'real' racing games. No signs of being a godawful grind either (although I'm still at early days on the tour). Well placed (particularly so for £20) I think.
I turned it on to give it a quick go around 7:30pm. Bam! 6Gb download! Bastards.

You can play it unpatched while the update downloads in the background, can't you?

I wanted to do club stuff, and beat all your pathetic times ;)

Please make the club livery more palatable, or I'm leaving. It currently looks like Craster vomiting on some sewage.

Good, that was my intention ;)
You don't get faceoff data either if you're playing while not online. Not that I really pay attention to it all that much as they always seem to be easily acheivable or require you to beat perfection with little in the middle ground.
The face-off thing doesn't work for me. I don't actually know what I'm supposed to be doing (drifting, corning, average speed etc) until it is too late.

I am warming to this game however it still doesn't feel right to me.

I've not played much of it, so maybe once I get used to the handling I'll start to enjoy it a bit more. I hate the menu navigation too. It's horrible, especially now with all the additional dlc shit added in there.
The colours of the face-offs give it away. Blue for cornering, orange for drift and yellow for average speed.
That helps a little thanks - but unless I can tell its you that I need to beat, I don't care :)

Just for you i've changed it.
I've also just crushed some of your times as punishment...
Yeah, that's much better. I tried the Golf one in Scotland for a while - dunno how you manage to hoon it round that first corner without crashing... I can only get within about a second as I spend the whole lap playing catchup!
Just better at gaming than you, i guess ;)

I'm really enjoying this game, it's great for a quick blast and I think the handling is pretty good. A very good mix of arcade and sim, which seems to suit my driving style, as I can get pretty high up some of the leaderboards without a huge amount of effort. I can get nowhere close to the top on a proper sim or full on arcade game!
You have a driving 'style' ?? I just hold down R2 and sometimes make a vague attempt at steering.
Loving this game. Feels solid and very pretty (just like me). Frustrating that I don't have some cars unlocked yet that I need for the challenges.
Trooper defo using some pokes for that Loch Scotchland track.
I can beat his ghost for the first half of it, or the second half but not managed to combine both into a single lap. Yet....
I hate Trooper and I hate that track. And VW Golfs. And Driveclub.
You'll need to beat his ghost then knock another second off. :metul:

There's definitely a few more tenths left in there for anyone with the patience, though.
The more I play this the more I'm liking it. I definitely need more practice on it tho, I'm not very good at it. It took me 4 laps to beat Zardoz on that vw Scotland track and I'm still slower than Myp. Badtimes.

Out of interest, has anyone tried a wheel with this game yet? Presumably the Logitech ones don't work with the ps4?

Nope, only Thrustmaster ones seem to work at the moment.

Logitech aren't making any new wheels, so I can't see them adding driver support for their old ones, sadly.
It's a curious situation. Logitech and Sony are blaming each other.

Sony have said they'll support any company who wants to make a driver for their wheels to work with the PS4. I'm not sure it's really their responsibility to ensure every third-party peripheral can work with their console.

It makes no financial sense for Logitech to bother, as they aren't selling any more wheels. Of course it means we consumers are stuffed.

Indeed. But they won't pay for the licence to develop a driver that interfaces with the chip, for obvious financial reasons (ie they won't make any money from it). According to Sony the chip is required to stop unlicensed knock-offs working, as per the 360/XBO.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014- ... ing-wheels

So it seems that Sony simply don't want anyone except Thrustmaster making wheels for them and won't provide the necessary SDK to create drivers. Yes, Logitech aren't making console peripherals but why would they abandon all the tooling etc. for their existing products if they could still sell them? It's all seems pretty shady to me.
It's a shame, but it just means I'll likely get Project Cars on PC instead. I keep my wheel in the office anyway.
Tomorrow, I'll be stacking my cheap PSN credit with that 10% off voucher we're getting to land this for £15. I'll be needing a club to join.

We have a spot open.
We're also at a higher level than the pretenders.
And much better looking.
Your livery is shit. And you suck at driving golfs.

So it looks like Sony and Thrustmaster have a deal, otherwise why would Sony care about unlicensed knockoffs?

It's a scummy thing to do but I can understand it from a financial point of view, but as you say, it's the consumers who get stuffed.

My main issue is that I'm already having to defend having two steering wheels in the house nevermind having to add another one!
Clearly I'm the runt of BEEX HARDER, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad i"ve got it digital because it really works to dip into for 15mins.

It's a great balance between arcade and sim for me. I'm starting to vaguely get breaking. At least I've unlocked the first Cup thingy.

Wooo LEVEL 9 GET ME!

(Also, turned all the UI off, and actually did better. It also really crazy realistic)
I'm glad BEEX HARDER has some people in it who aren't good. I shall join it later.
