Tabletop wargaming - nerdlinging to the max...
and other sundry models

Do you play tabletop wargames?
No, of course not. Tabletop wargamers are so nerdy they make PC fanboys look cool and studly.  34%  [ 25 ]
Yes. I love my little painted figures. I give them all names and stroke them every night. I live for weapons damage charts.  5%  [ 4 ]
I used to, but discovered girls.  52%  [ 38 ]

Sanded down and sprayed with car primer.

I have a Warhammer 40k assault on black reach set for sale if anyone on here wants first refusal before I whack it on eBay.
It's used and part painted, but looks complete.

Ooh, quite possibly.

eBay seems to be conflicted about how much it's worth, though.
Look at recently sold items. It's usually a good indicator
They range from £17 to £51, and that's just in the last few weeks :S

And they say you can't polish a turd... :metul:

He’s a mate. Offer him £14.99 and a cuddle at the cottage
Seems to go most often for £40ish used (or £140 new!)

£25 at the cottage any good to you?
Only if we can have a quick game.
Sure, i've never played it, so I assume it won't be quick, as i'll have no clue what is going on :D
(It's Donna's son's game, I'm just her ebay shill)
Could you tape 12 pound coins to a piece of cardboard?
Some progress with the machine gun post - just need to add the camo netting on the roof when the rickety frame dries....

That's brilliant.
That’s amazing, Mr Chris.
Merci - the basil garnish really completes it I think.

Myp's colleagues would nick it.
What lovely little brown bags you have. And so many! The netting's great.
Yeah that’s great, Kissyfur!

Did you really use basil? :D
Few layers of paint and some weathering. Going well so far.
Bit clearer without the newspaper.
What lovely landy bumps. They'll bring all the nerds to the yard.
Thank you, Dimrill x

Now with Axle Foliage! Unt Tau for scale!
Those turned out very nice - a literal turd polish there!

I do love Tau - I keep wanting to buy some but I have a massive pile of unpainted stuff already and I don't own WH40k :)
They’re pretty good value, models per box wise. Treat yourself :)
And as I mentioned to MaliA, the new Kill Team starter box comes with a Tau and Space Marine squad... perfect!
Next little mini project is an ammo dump. It’s a little off scale I think, but mostly works. Base needs completing.

Argh just noticed some stray paint at the end of the wood coloured box :-/
Always the case when you see the photographs!

Looking good mate!

Current WIP (badly photographed) is a set of stone walls that I sort of wish I hadn't started (the amount of bloody lines I had to score into the styrofoam drove me mad, and then realised I needed a bunch more)

Oh my, that’s some patience testing nerding. Looks great.

I started on the next batch of Tau last night... 5 warriors, 7 drones and two more battle suits.
Space commies! I miss working with balsa. So satisfying to cut up but needed less in the Future Times of Badness.
All the cool kids us cheap tins of expanding foam.

Those drones look great with lemon piping! I've got about 5,000 points of T'au knocking around that I was supposed to paint up as Vior'la, but time time time.

Have you got a Shieldline? They can be so unfair it starts being funny.
No shield line*, just my sons Start Collecting Box set.

He built them then were left for ages after I primed them so I've started chipping away at them for him. Very therapeutic to paint :)

*yet :D
Walls finished!

Sorry to leave your last update hanging. Excellent nerding there, Kissyfur.
Another batch of sickly psychedelic techno bastards begins.
Got lucky on eBay and have 4 new Contrast paints heading my way for £12!

Not tried them before but look great from what I've seen.
Are they the magic ones that highlight and shade for you as you paint?
Yeah, kind of. They pool like washes in the recesses but cover flat areas better than a wash. So more of a paint + shade rather than highlight.
The experiments I did with is over undercoat were underwhelming at best. It pools in pooling places where pools aren't wanted to pool. Pool. Through an airbrush I got a decent base for my Alpharius, so I think I'll keep them for that purpose.
Well, hopefully mine will be magic like Grim... mentioned.
I vaguely remember reading that the undercoat had quite an effect on how well the Contrast paints work. Hence their special undercoat being horribly expensive...
It do. It needs to be slick. My experiences are with wraithbone one. YMMV of course, but I'm not rushing to get any more.
The new Liberty Prime surprisingly cheap!

He's a big ole boy.
Dark Angels Predator done! (until I faff about again)

First dabble with citadel muck paint, works well I think.
And some progress pics of my dirty flyboys. Really nice sculpts these, loads of detail.
