omg burocracy + loopy stepmother
my father died about a year ago in Bosnia, stepmother and my brother and I inherited (nothing). Lots of hoopla because laws and distance and language but most is settled we signed away our rights while she is alive, good.
no not good, there is a car, and stepmother now wants to sell it, so my brother and I both need to sign a release form as we co-own it with her, but separately as brother and I live around 200 km apart and god knows when we would be able to go to a notary together on a working day because yes it needs to be notarised signatures AND then get a seal from the law court and then sent to Bosnia so brother and I both need a notary appt and pay the fee plus the fee of the court so prob around 80 Euros in all plus our time

It's times like these that we need to remind ourselves of the wise words of one Mr W Shakespeare - Kill all the lawyers first.
Yep, that’s permanent.
The autocorrect ion this ducking tablet is driving me nurts

As is the keyboard.
That seems quite an extreme reaction to ban someone for life for a single post.
Especially given the mountains of shit that goes unchallenged.
Yes. That’s a lot of screenshots of that Katie Hopkins trash woman going around today. I have her blocked, so am usually spared, but she regularly shares screenshots of where people have complained about her racism and transphobia and Twitter have said they don’t see the need to remove her tweet or act in any way.

She may have tweets that ARE deleted, but she sure as heck doesn’t have a lifetime ban.

Sorry this has happened, Nik. xx
And Tweets that are basically hate speech are far worse IMO than just expressing an opinion on how (un)likeable some politicians are

Thanks. To be fair I have been temp-banned before for exactly the same thing, so it's kind of my fault for not learning just how sensitive Twitter are about the c-word.

(Don't tell them, but I've still got my old old old account, and am rebranding it and refollowing people now... we'll see how long I get away with that.)

You know that they don’t actually trawl people’s accounts looking for the c-word? They’ll be reacting to people reporting your tweets.

I’ve pretty much left Twitter now because they’re happy to host nazis and hate speech yet censor seemingly spurious stuff. However, yes you’ve been warned before. If you valued your account it might have been an idea to stop the things they told you to stop doing.

You’ll probably get away with using your other account unless you start cuntifying it enough to get reported again.

Mop works for Twitter now?

How dignified ;)

... Oh shit, were we meant to unban him?
I'm doing my annual online training in FCA bullshit today. Yadda yadda... bribery... yadda yadda whistleblowing etc...
All thorugh a lovely little app, that displays all the text at micro speed, and throwns in random questions that you have to stop and answer, so you can't just skip the whole thing.

I try to find enjoyment in the shitloads of mandatory training I have to do by making sure to literally not read a single word of the material as I click through it then see if I can pass the test anyway. This is made less interesting by the fact that the answer is almost always a variation on 'escalate to Compliance'.
I'm getting enjoyment from providing passive agressive feedback in the mandatory comments box at the end of each module.
Module A: John has worked in the same department for a long time, and has refused promotions on multiple occasions. Is his behaviour suspicious?
Answer: Yes, it could be that he is commiting a fraud of some kind and doesn't want to lose access to the opportunity, or be found out if someone replaces him.

Module B: Jenny has worked in the same department for many years and has refused promotions on multiple occasions. Is her behaviour suspicious?
Answer: No, it could be that she enjoys what she does and isn't interested in career progression.

Oh, just fuck off. Fucking piece of fucking shit.
Reverse sexism
Jenny is totally on the take, the crafty bitch.

Which of these is the possible penalty for...ALL OF THE ABOVE, AT THE SAME TIME, PLUS LASHES, PLUS PROBABLY CRUCIFIXION

At my workplace (a completely different field), we have an internal induction that is a very simple health & safety (gone mad, innit) style of induction and I am still absolutely flabbergasted that some people fail it even after reading the slides and taking their time.
The self-checkout machine at Sainsbury's repeatedly failed to recognise my finger taps yesterday. I had to keep on calling over the attendant whose fingers had sufficient magic to operate the system. It was all quite odd.

Take a sausage with you to use in this situation in the future :-)
At work, the biometric sensor often doesn't recognise one's finger swipe. However, and this always works, if you rub your finger across your forehead then on the biometric sensor, it works first time.
Cut out the middleman, press your face to the screen.

Next time, program it to recognise a sausage

But then you'll have to look after that sausage. It'd be worse/more difficult than a Tamagotchi.
Complete brain fart this morning as I completely forgot my work password, despite entering it repeatedly every day for the past month. Naturally, the more I tried to think about it, the more it didn't work.

I did this once after having the same bank PIN for about five years. Just stood at the machine, mind as blank as a new notebook.

Couldn’t remember for three days.

Forgot I’d forgotten it a few days later and went to the machine and entered it without thinking.

Stupid brains.
For ages I couldn’t input my banking username (9 digit code) unless I had a numeric keypad, as I had accidentally just remembered the motion and not what it meant.
I have a credit card for which I don't know the PIN. I only got it to clear the balance on another card, but when I received the PIN in the post I thought, "that's piss easy to remember," and 5 minutes later it had been wiped from my short term memory, like many other things, never to return. One of these days I might ask for a new one.

I don't remember the pin for my credit card. I only ever use it for online purchases though, so I can't be arsed to reset it.
The corporate WiFi is on the blink in the office, which means I have to use one of my laptop's Thunderbolt ports to connect to the ethernet, and have only 1 external monitor. It's like living in caveman times or something.

Can you not daisy chain?

We don't appear to have any of the correct adaptors left. May as well be coding by using a flake of sharpened flint.

Shit like this is the worst. Pray for Squirt.

I'm on a plane with free wifi. And it's ok but just a bit slow. Not so much as to be a problem, but enough to be noticeable. Usable, but suboptimal, and that's troubling me.
The wifi on my train commute won't connect unless I forget the network and re-add it. Sometimes I don't bother and just read my book, it's that annoying.

You own a book?

Wow.
73 mile trip for a store server with 'no comms.' That's all the info I was given.

I've brought a replacement server in case the in store one is busted.

Store manager mentioned that all their back office appliances were switched off last night by a shop fitter who was installing new work top shelves. And the shop fitter put everything back afterwards. You can see where this is going, I guess.

He got it NEARLY right, but connected the LAN cable to the wrong port on the server. Fixed in 5 seconds.

But now I have a view across Morecambe Bay at lunch time, so it's not all bad.

I don't bother with train wifi any more, I just use my phone as a hotspot if I need data.

Obviously not, I just use my Kindle app.

Reception is super patchy on my commute on my phone. The train dongle must be much bigger than mine.
Depends whose network you're on, and whose network the train is on.
I suspect the train will have better aerials.
And a bigger dongle than trooper
They might have more than one dongle, that works with more than one carrier too.

They're all on Network Rail, aren't they?
Drove from Manchester to Scarborough to collect a part for a job in York. Computer says part was ordered and delivered, depot says they haven't had a delivery today and my part ain't there. Nice day for a 230 mile drive for nowt.
