It'll shame me into working on it, for sure.

I had only 3g for about 6 months, it's fine!
I know it is fine, but I am not connecting my pc or laptop to my 3g..

Also it is buggering around with my tivo... :DD

It's really not. Christ, I'd never be able to watch any TV, play any Xbox/PS3 demos and even installing some games on my phone would be right out.
I had the countryside to enjoy and lots of 2nd hand single player xbox games :D
Goddamned mothershitting Blu-ray! Lovefilm sent us the first disc of Sherlock on Blu-ray and we fancied watching it in bed last night. Mrs B's laptop does media player duties in the bedroom and it doesn't have a physical drive at all, much less a Blu-ray drive, so I temporarily moved the main PC into the bedroom. While it did play the disc it wasn't perfect, it was juddery at times and crashed out completely at one point. It was a really old version of PowerDVD I was running as I never play films on the main PC so I spent this afternoon yarring new Blu-ray software just to see if the issue was software based or if the Blu-ray drive was fucked. ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater crashed after playing the intros on the disc and then the latest version of PowerDVD stopped playback at the same point, but did at least tell me why: it won't play Blu-ray films down a VGA connection for copy protection reasons. Something that was apparently enforced from 2011 onwards, hence why my old version of PowerDVD would play the disc last night but the new version won't. Yes, I realise that my shitty monitor only having VGA in is bad and I am going to get a new one soon but that's still fucking bullshit right there.

Now, the above bullshit aside, I do fancy having Blu-ray playback capabilities in the bedroom. Given this copy protection nonsense I've got two options:

1. Buy a proper hardware Blu-ray player; assuming it'll play alright when connected to the component connection of the bedroom TV as that's really all it's got as an input option for such a thing.
2. Buy an external Blu-ray drive for the laptop in the bedroom and connect the HDMI outout of the laptop to the DVI input on the TV. Note that I'm currently connecting the two with VGA because it's the only port they've got in common without using some kind of HDMI->DVI converter and VGA works perfectly fine.

Option 2 there is the preference because having an external drive for the laptop would come in handy for other use cases. However it seems to be a fucking minefield because not only will the Blu-ray copy protection potentially choke on this setup but there seems to be shitloads of different types of DVI connection (at least five going by the Wiki article) and, as the bedroom TV is a bit older, there's no guarantee it'll accept a converted HDMI input from the laptop anyway.

So, I'm probably going to have to buy a hardware Blu-ray player that I don't entirely want despite allegedly having most of the kit required to do it via the laptop purely because I can't trust the copy protection and all the competing AV connectors to talk to each properly. If I felt like it I could yarr all of the stuff I want and play it anywhere with absolutely no hassle at all, but God forbid I try and do it legitimately. Thanks very fucking much the RIAA for making it incredibly difficult for someone to do what they want perfectly legally because you basically hate your fucking customers.

PS3?

That's what we use in the living room for Bluray playback and I can't justify a second one for the bedroom. Indeed I wouldn't want one regardless of expense as it's much bulkier than just getting a dedicated player.
I've accidentally bought an iPad 2 instead of the new iPad.

And Argos don't do returns on iPads apparently.

Bums.
Can they do that? I thought there were distance selling rules.

Distance selling regs mean that they'd need to accept a return for any reason if you buy online, but I'm assuming he's bought it in store in which case you're pretty much fucked unless it's broken in some way.
Allegedly. It's in the Ts & Cs.

If a product is excluded from our 30-day money-back guarantee, it is clearly marked by a † next to the product name in the catalogue and on this website.

The iPad is marked with an †.

The receipt says that the product is excluded from the money back guarantee.

I think this must conflict with statutory rights.

It is unopened and otherwise as it left the shop. I might give them a call and give them a good old fashioned moan.
To the quack chiropractor who was advertising his neck-breaking snake oil by sticking an advert onto my windscreen, so when I tried to peel it off the top layer came off easily, but there's still sticky stuff stuck on the glass: please go and commit an anatomical impossibility, then throw yourself down a well. Grrr...

If he were, I'd force it down the throats of his loved ones before throwing them down the well too.

And no amount of squirting as I went down the M40 at 70mph shifted it either. Bah, going to have to get the sponge and bucket out later.
Daily info, room to let, DSS and pet friendly, Headington £200 PCM. Stick his number on the advert.
Just opened a tube of toothpaste. It's some horrible artificial "citrus" flavour. It says absolutely nothing about this anywhere on the tube.

My current toothpaste is blue and has cyan squares in it for some reason. This is not on the packaging/tube. :(
Still no TiVO remote control! The cat keeps jumping on my back when I crouch to use the on-box controls. Grr.

Wouldn't count with Argos unless he opted for home delivery.

Darling, not dear.
I bought myself a spinning wheel as a gift, from me to me. Site said delivery could be anything up to 10 days, but usually 2-3.

After a week I asked how long it might be and they basically said 'none in stock, in order from suppliers, could be days, might be months.

They've not charged the card, so that's not the problem. Just nowhere else sells them and it's something I've so been looking forward to, and I bought it for a very special celebration for myself but now it just seems to make me feel a little flat and disappointed. :(

I think because every day I've hoped it will be the day it arrives.
FML - It's really hard work getting up at 5.30am to go and exercise with a personal trainer.

I've considered becoming a personal trainer. I think it'd be really, really, funny making acocutnants run up muddy paths and heaving medicine balls up hills.

To be honest Mimi, I'd be using this as the perfect excuse to buy myself an 'interim gift' to make up for the disappointment of the initial gift being delayed.
