Cutting thine own hair
Reply
I was expecting russ to look like a skinhead :(

is this new haircut for the polish girl?
When are you cutting your hair, Russ?
Wahl for me too - I'm balding, so I just have done with it just go for a No.1 cut all over, once a week. What's left seems to grow fast, annoyingly. (The thought of doing it myself with my levels of clumsiness would be terrifying, however; I'd probably manage to decapitate myself. Mrs Caveman does it in about 2 mins and has a special little battery powered jobbie for removing ear hair as well :D ).

Mind you, I was stupid and bought a rechargeable one, which as it gets older finds it harder to retain enough charge for one cut, which is a shame as it's still pretty good in other respects and the blades are still OK despite years of frequent use. Like so many others have said already, mains powered is deffo the way forward. :)

One day you will have half a haircut.

Cheapest. Wahl. Mains powered. Done.

This once happened to myp.

As he got ready to go to curiositys wedding. When he was staying at my house. 150 miles away from his charger.

That was my beard trimmer, I think, but yes. My hair clippers are mains powered.

I don't understand why you won't stop asking. Is it because I didn't go bald completely, and only went for a number 8 all over?

Because I'm a twat.

BEATNIK!

On behalf of myself, Flis, GJ and most probably Mali A, I'd like to assure you that no apologies or excuses are required.
You *should* apologise for the creepy 'phone-eye' thing you've got going on.
He's not just a piece of meat, Mimi!

Looks like he's squeezing out a poop.

Yeah, I couldn't work out how to look in both the mirror or at the phone. Plus I have a lazy eye when I get tired, and this was late at night.

Anyway. It stopped heads at work this morning. My boss literally stopped talking mid flow when he saw me. Um....

'iPhone', stupid.

EyePhone, surely?

No.
This thread will do.

I've just had my hair cut short. Not baldy, but short. I like it. It no longer looks like I'm trying to hide my bald bits.

How I read it.

I need to take similar action with my bonce at some point and the prospect scares me.

Not as scary as my hirsute boobs though.
Haha,

I remember this thread. It's a few days before Russell and I met.

I don't think I realised the same person at the time though as his name was different on Twitter to how it was on here, or something.

I remember assuming that he was a very short person (because he said that he was tall, and I just assume everyone on this forum is being sarcastic all of the time).

Anyway, I cut his hair now.
I think GazChap needs his hair cutting (because I like the feels of it when it's freshly done) but he's ignoring my subtle hints ("your hair is getting a bit long now love") so I think I'm just going to have to trim it in his sleep. :D

I don't think I've ever seen Gazchap with hair.
Well I suppose compared to you or I it's virtually non-existent :DD
I wish someone would cut my hair in my sleep. I hate cutting my hair.
I will do it next time I watch you sleep.........
I've also quickly came to like my shaved short, no fucking around haircut.

Unfortunately the boy is under the impression that we now have matching haircuts for life, which could make the next round of chemo traumatic.
The clippers are still going strong by the way.
Bringing this thread back from the dead to ask if the Beex Hive Mind has advanced any more thoughts on clippers bestness?

I have a set of Remington clippers, corded, that are a couple of years old, but man they really struggle on Russell and Darwin’s hair. They both have super thick hair and LOADS of it, and the clippers can’t get through. Yesterday I had to hold Russell’s hair centimetre by centimetre perpendicular to his head and try to cut it tiny tuft at a time (I gave up and resorted to scissors).

Does anyone here have any clippers they would recommended for someone with far too much and too thick hair? Corded would be my preference, just for power purposes, with guards up to 1”.
Barbers often seem to have Wahl clippers so I guess they must be decent.
I’ve had Wahl and they likewise lost power after some time (though more than two years), but I think there might be quite a big difference between the various models and the cheaper home end to more robust ones.
I'm hardly the epitome of "thick hair", but I use Wahl, and I've had no problems on using them on my (mixed race) kids.

The clippers I have been using for almost 7 years now, were essentially the cheapest corded Wahl I could find on Amazon.

Doesn't go up to an 8 (an inch), but I am sure they will do one that does.
There's quite of lot of routine maintenance needed for the top end clippers. Oiling and the like
I’ve found some Wahl ones that a lot of reviews suggest are a lot more powerful than other models, and I think I’m going to get these:

Deal: Wahl Hair Clippers for Men with Precision Self-Sharpening Blades, Elite Pro Head Shaver, Men's Hair Clippers , Secure Fit Premium Cutting Combs, Professional Barbers, Corded https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WZ1JV4 ... UTF8&psc=1

Also, it doesn’t come with a useless beard trimmer, nose hair trimmer, belly button defluffer, eye brow styler or anything else (has anyone EVER used any of those bits?), so that’s good.

I don’t mind maintenance. We clean and oil all of the garden tools any time we use them, and I have sewing machine maintenance, etc, and that’s all ok.

Hello! Yes, me.....

I spend more time trimming my beard than my head hair. People have joked that my head looks like it's on upside down which I find both amusing and hurtful, and also accurate.

The nose hair trimmer gets a lot of use, and has done for many years. Only recently have my eyebrows started becoming a bit unruly. My ears also need a quick once over periodically too.
They need to add the bit onto sex education that goes "and when you are over thirty, you'll have more weird hair on your back in weird patches than anywhere else. And your ears"
True, and the first grey pube is also a slightly upsetting occasion.

But what really, really sucks for me in getting older is that small wounds (cuts, scratches, burns) take aaaages to heal as my skin gets a bit older and thinner :'(
