The pointless emulation thread - fruit machines
Also, gambling talk and stuff.

More lo-tech empty nonsense.

I am loving the comment sections on your videos. There is generally someone who knows a better emptier or exploit but never willing to share it.

Too many Dr Who watchers who must believe in timey wimey stuff.
REBUTTAL to the commenters.

The evidence-based approach has proved successful.

Watched them both this morning. Cheers. Very enlightening. And yeah, you made loads of mistakes dude. Holding wins, etc. I think that is why it puckered up the first time around.

The only emptier I ever saw was a bug in the program code. I just had a brain fart.. Everyone's a winner? MPU4, yellow cab, lottery ticket.. My mate got a lottery ticket and it stuck on paying jackpots. IIRC about £230 came out before the attendant came and switched it off. But that, AFAIK was just a freak. Typical he got "screwed' though (well, depends on how much £230 from £1 is getting screwed). They did accuse him of cheating too, but I was not having any of that. We didn't even know what emptiers were.

I've been watching all of your vids. I've not subbed or commented for the obvious reasons. But I get you in my news feed every day :)
Yes but that's the whole point, the video showed how I learned how to do the method properly during its run time, and yet I had people jumping down my throat in the comments saying 'I've just watched the first £6 and you're doing it totally wrong'. (Before the runtime of the video had even elapsed from me publishing it.)

Many of those who did watch the whole thing then claimed it wasn't a method at all, that I was just taking the streak pot, and that I'd basically fabricated the entire thing.

Two videos later where I take nearly £400 out of a £10 jackpot machine appears to have silenced that noise, at least.

There's someone out there who appears to take a bizarre pleasure in disliking my videos, like, I'll do an upload of a video that's over an hour long, and within 3 minutes he/she has given it a dislike.
Well let's face it after what we have both witnessed in the past 18 years you can hardly be surprised dude. It was only about five years ago that DS got all weird on FF threatening to post things from 10 years before. There's messed up people involved with fruit machines you can't really be surprised that one of them is holding a grudge..

That is why I got out. Like, totally got out. Deleted all of the means of contact I had with every one and just walked. And I am glad I did. It was all such a fruitless (pardon the pun) waste of my time. You spend literally five days of your life, 15 hours a day, to create something for people to slag off. Ridiculous. The levels of entitlement were just unbounded.

I just lurk in the shadows now. I have played the new MFME but literally for minutes rather than weeks. IIRC I played Homer's Meltdown for a bit, then loaded up some of my old ones and that's it. Doing things for myself seems to be much more enjoyable than spending the best part of a decade giving to others and sacrificing my own. Yeah, no thanks.

Just be careful mate. You and I? we forgive and mostly forget. Mostly because we are not completely deranged and thus have a limiter and levels of morals and respectability. But there are many people involved in that whole thing that do not have limitations. Jesus. phone calls to my boss trying to get me sacked, stalking, getting some one to pretend they were interested in buying my car to get my address? unfuckingbelievable.

It all seemed OK then but not now.
On that last point I should say that before I always used to post on forums and everywhere else with my name - I was me and did not care who knew who I was

But after what I saw happened to Hearthly I switched over to an alias - people can be ****s

It's a lot calmer now than it was in the days of FF don't you think? I'm not really involved too much so could be wrong I guess!

To be completely honest (and I am, I have no reason to lie) I check in on the forums every 3 months or so. I just check to see if Step 'n' Skip has been released really. I have grabbed a couple of machines but they just bore me very quickly. So in all honesty I would really have no idea even if something was going on (like the last few wars, I've stayed well clear).

I know a few things that have happened to the people involved since 2006, and some of their lives have improved I would say and some not. I also heard that Tim (Bugs Bunny) had died. I don't know how much truth is in that so take it with a pinch of salt but yeah, apparently he is no longer with us, which would explain his absence really. I got told that in a Skype convo a few years ago. Which made me want to stay away from it even more.

But now that Chris is being open and honest I guess every one else can too, and there really is nothing left to argue over, leak, hide, etc. I bet you a million quid though if I returned there would be murder within a month.
I don't really play the emulator. I downloaded a few layouts and tried out the autoplay but that was it really.

Fruit Emu seems like an almost friendly place (although newbies are still treated very badly by some). Desert Island Fruits is a great resource and friendly.

Wizard interacting with everyone really makes a difference to how the scene feels, but it is a lot smaller than it used to be and it is a lot easier to have a harmonious environment when there are less people involved.

Love the videos though, keep them coming :)
Something of a tribute to one of FME's finest layout designers.

FEAT Tony from RLMS, the man with the world's most thankless job.

A drunken Hearthly takes on an SWP (Skill With Prizes) machine he hasn't played in anger for the best part of 25 years.

Incompetence follows.

The Rifle Range is supposed to be like that dude. It would be too easy otherwise. It's like a sniper rifle in game, constantly moving away from you.

I never won a dime out of this thing, but man I loved it any way. So much fun.

Yes if you watch the video to the end I basically say I've got my head around it all again, TBH I was really quite squiffy on the initial runs, then I played it again with a clear head the next day :)

It's definitely not quite the same in an emulated environment though, even using a trackball. However a large part of my shitness on the early runs was down to (1) Being pissed and (2) Being desperately out of practice.
Oh OK man sorry I was in a hurry this morning (bringing my Dianoga PC, Steelcase chair and Apple Cinema display to mum's for my bolt hole) and didn't have time to watch the whole thing.

Also, IIRC, it gets more wonky the more it pays out. IE - the jittering gets so hard you won't hit the back side of a barn door.

I've got a feeling that the ahole that sited the one I used to play set it to uber hard. I never won anything out of it, but it was fantastic fun to play either when you were bladdered or you had met a holiday girl and were playing it together :) Many happy memories :)
First deposit to an online casino in four years.....

Here I examine the controversial slot 'BONANZA' by Big Time Gaming and express my opinions on it.

PLEASE NOTE - There is a commentary maths error at 26m57s and 28m11s, the correct figure is £9,600,000 and not £9,960,000. I only noticed this after I'd finished editing the video together, rendered it out, and kicked off the upload. (Small sherries had been consumed at the time of filming.)

Some of my conclusions about the slot were INCORRECT.

These are ADDRESSED in this video.

Last night's beer infused encounter..... (Many snakebites, specifically.)

More classic SWP action.

Inspired by a few of your most recent vids, I have been playing the fruit machines on kwiff (app)

The coins system confuses me and also the various stake options. I just thought I had won £9 on a low stake but actually I won £90 on £1.50 a go.

I think I should retire gracefully at this point :D
Some seriously shady behaviour in a new online slot.

I don't normally watch your videos (nothing personal, I just don't need exposure to slots as I'm struggling on that front at the moment), but I was just doing some work on a friend's laptop so had your video on in the background. I'm certainly not a fan of that feature-buying though, although I'd probably end up dropping my stake to the absolute minimum so that 50x wasn't so much of a hit.

When you refer to the advice given in the help text, it doesn't necessarily say the best tactic is to gamble up to 24, just to gamble, so I don't know how much of a difference it would make if you always stopped at 12 or 16. It did look a rather dull slot though, so no danger of me playing it anyway.
The RTP (Return To Player) is actually highest if you do nothing except buy features and then gamble as far as you can.

So on 20p per spin (the minimum stake) it costs £10 to buy a feature, which you can lose in a few seconds on a spin of the free spins gamble wheel.

At £1 per spin (£50 feature buy) I lost over £3000 of demo money in about 90 minutes playing like this. It makes the slot massively volatile so you're either going to win big or lose your shirt. Very quickly.
My point was that the help text doesn't say to gamble as far as you can with the spins, just to gamble, so I wondered if there might be a kind of sweet spot of spins to collect.

I see that someone else did their own little study on the payout rates of 100 features.
The help file says 'The optimal strategy is to ALWAYS spin the feature gamble wheel'.

(My emphasis.)

It also makes it clear that the RTP is higher when buying the feature and gives a range of T-RTP, taking those two things together you are best off always buying the feature and always gambling as far as possible. Played like this the slot is massively volatile and will take you apart in no time whatsoever if it goes wrong.

Here is some Eastenders.

Includes poignant tale of gambling addiction in the 'Jackanory' section.

00:00 - 05:55 = Intro
05:55 - 19:34 = Jackanory with Degsy Degworth
19:34 - 42:58 = Machine commentary and gameplay

And Coronation Street.

REAL MONEY GAMBLOR.

I bought 20 features on the slot 'White Rabbit' at £20 a pop.

This is what happened.

More splendid old Crystal Maze action.

For those just joining this thread: 28 pages of "actually, fruit machines are bad"
SWPs aren't even fruit machines, you drunken bum!
He didn't actually watch any videos.

They don't have time for YouTube here remember. ;)

Is it just me, or judging by the voice, are Myp and Hearthly the same person...
I have never heard Myp's voice so I can't comment.

Perhaps we could get him to excitedly play a 25 year old SWP in the emulator, swear a lot, and take it from there.

Very suprised that he went this way, but welcome
I investigate the mysterious tale of ACE's 'Fair Play' hi/lo reel, a short-lived experiment in the £6 jackpot era where the hi/lo gamble reel on some ACE fruit machines chose the next number BEFORE you gambled, and then revealed what number it had chosen after you guessed higher or lower.

This meant that if you could guess correctly, every single win could be gambled out to the £3/£6 repeater.

Had some time to kill earlier so went into a local Coral

Deposited £50 by card, the rule that's splattered everywhere says if you pay by card winnings go back on the card.

I did indeed win, 30 mins of spawny play and I have a £650 ticket for my trouble.

So ask for it back on the card, the guy behind the counter looked 14 ( I assume he was at least 18 in order to work in there)

He told me he lacked the required code to process winnings back onto cards, so he paid me cash.

This kid was alone running a shop  Really piss poor leaving him like that.
Yes they get attacked and murdered sometimes, but profits are at their highest when only one staff member is on duty.

Yay capitalism!
THE BIG MATCH vs CUP FINAL.

Another article about the proposed £2 limit on FOBTs. Reading the comments from those in the industry, about potential job losses etc., doesn't make me feel a shred of sympathy for them.

Also, it'll be interesting to see how well the new Gamstop service works. In theory, you sign up with them and you'll automatically be prevented from joining casinos linked with the Gambling Commission. Although I'm already self-excluded from 99% of casinos, I've signed up anyway as I'm done with it all after a rougher than usual past six months.
Quote:
Greg Knight, managing director of independent firm Jenningsbet, who has warned a £2 stake would lead to "at best" half his 100 betting shops closing with the loss of 250 jobs

This shows that they are nothing more than amusement arcades, half this guy's shops are dependent of £50 and above FOBT profits

My channel is doing OK, I generally upload a video or two per week. 457 subscribers at the moment, a popular video can manage 2500-3500 views or so, although the average is just a few hundred. For some reason a video for a really obscure emptier on an old £5 machine managed over 1000 views recently though.

One of the best received videos overall, in terms of likes and positive comments, is this one, called 'Gambling Low Ebbs Part #1'.

The video's description is as below, and if any of you are minded to watch it please be aware it does end up pretty dark and fucked up.

Quote:
A sober recollection of a somewhat unedifying sequence of events from the early 90s. Please be advised this is not a happy tale and gets very sweary at one point.

In all honesty I'm not entirely happy with how it's come together, even in the edit, but I'm not minded to record the whole thing again either. (Note that there is some extra info appended to the end of the video that I forgot to narrate as part of the main tale.)

May be be part of a series if I'm ever in the mood to delve back into the memory banks again to tell the story of other similarly awful fuck-ups from the worst of my gambling addiction days.
