Yeah, I know.
Although, posts from a few weeks ago suggest that some of the team were working on it, and Spigot are working on an update. (They're basically a better version of Bukkit - from what I can work out, they just take Bukkit and make it work better for busier servers) [edit] Does that mean what they're doing is technically illegal?

Anyway, is Minecraft still popular here? I haven't seen you talking about it much, but is your server still busyish DavPaz?
Nope. Very little traffic. Costs me nowt but electric and the Server's running constantly anyway, so here it stays

Ah, do you host it at home? I thought it was a server company-thing you used.

Heh. Just tried to log into minecraft - had to reset password. It's been so long I've forgotten it. :-P
ATTENTION PAZLANDERS!

Pazland is currently OFFLINE and will stay that way until I have reassessed my home server hardware. My current solution was running very hot and costing me monies in electric juice.

All files are safe and backed up.

Rest assured: PAZLAND WILL RETURN

(maybe)
I was going to ask about Pazland's current status, so I will: Now.
Current Status: Offline.

Is it missed?
In an 'I don't use it but was glad it was there' way. Like motorway crash barriers.
I miss it! Was building there with my sis' right up until the update.
I'll switch it back on.
It's back. Still on 1.7 though. I'll have to look into the bukkit alternatives
I'd be more interested if it were 1.8, I'll admit.
One of the alternatives runs bukkit plugins, or so I heard. I was hoping that someone else would do the research, tbh
Spigot is running 1.8 now! It's essentially Bukkit - your pugins should work.
http://www.spigotmc.org/

Although, you'll probably have issues with plugins that directly affect blocks and items due to large changes in the way Minecraft identifies them.
Heh, "git bash"
Ok. It's back up and running on the Spigot platform. There are errors galore in the console but the server itself seems to be running ok. The Dynamic Map is offline due to incompatibilities but you can live without for a wee while, no?

Give it a go. Let me know how it runs.

Ta.
Only just got home a short while ago, and don't have much time before bedtime, but the server works A-OK when I gave it a go. :)
Good stuff.

GO GO 1.8!

The address is pazland.davpaz.co.uk but it's still running on 1.7 as the bukkit server world is in chaos.

Are you already whitelisted?

I don't think so, how does that work? you need an ip-address?
we're on the ipad..
Pretty sure you can't connect to full versions of the server with the iPad version of Minecraft.

Announcing Minecraft: Story Mode

In other news, we’re collaborating with Telltale Games to create Minecraft: Story Mode! Here are some bullet points to celebrate!

Minecraft: Story mode will be a narrative-driven video game created by Telltale Games. It will be about Minecraft.
Mojang is collaborating with Telltale and members of the community to make Minecraft: Story Mode as Minecrafty as possible.
The first episode will be released some time in 2015, and will be available on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices.
Minecraft: Story Mode will be released episodically, just like The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, or the recent Tales from the Borderlands, which is another developer-collaboration series between Telltale Games and Gearbox Software.
We’re not intending on creating an “official” story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. It will be a cool game.
The Minecraft 2 thing was a joke. No really. It was a joke.

As 2014 comes to a close, we are delighted to confirm our partnership with Mojang to create a new episodic game series based on one of the most popular video games in history - Minecraft.

Minecraft: Story Mode will be an all-new narrative-driven game series developed by Telltale in collaboration with Mojang. Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices.

Telltale's game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.
This is out on the Windows phone now. I hope my £4.99 helps Microsoft recoup some of their money.
Viiiiiisssssssiiiitttt Paaaaaaaaazzzzlaaaaaannnnnnddd!
At some point I really ought to try Minecraft properly.

Can you whitelist Grimdotdotdot? The Grimlet wants a look around.
In transit currently. Will do asap
Still not on the list, apparently.

I have version 1.8.1, if that matters.
Sorry for the delay. I'm heading home now, so it'll be sorted presently
Should definitely be whitelisted now, chap.
Fucking Hell, guys!
When did you last visit?
I'm not convinced I ever have.

Judging by your whitelist status, you may be right.

Welcome to Pazland!
It's cool if I set off some TNT, right?
I joined in!

The bottom left 2 are Canada and Wales, or as near as I can get them.
So, if anyone's still interested, Pazland has recently been updated to the latest version, 1.8.8.
Can you whitelist "lasermink", pleeeeeeze?
No problem. Try it now
Here's one... Timesink
This topic appearing again reminded me - I was backing stuff up for doing a clean install of Win10, and I came across the old backup of the original server. Anyone have any idea of how to update it to the newest format? I tried just putting it into the Saves folder and launching the game, hoping it was auto-update it like it used to, but it didn't even recognize the folders existence. :(
How old is the backup?

If it's ancient, you'll have to load it into each major version and let it update on step at a time. Luckily, the 'new' launcher lets you access older versions of the client.
Stupid game. A quick login to check it was all working turned into a 90 minute "must finish these fucking towers" buildathon.

Bye bye lunch break.
