Minecraft Server - Pazland!

I realise I'm new here, but can I get access to the server please? It's why I signed up a few months ago, after seeing a mention of your forum in the Minecraft thread on rllmuk. I was running a server for 5punk.co.uk but stopped it as it was getting very little use. Now I'm looking for somewhere to play occasionally, without being lonely or paying for a server.

Those are my credentials, my username as always is spoodie. If I pass muster. Also I have experience running a server at home, on jestservers.com and multiplay so you can pick my brain on those.

I've got some regulars. It's a magical wonderland* to explore.

*sorry for the gayness

Im tempted to purchase minecraft. very tempted.

Dooooo it.....

Obey Mr Paz.

If you want my view, Minecraft's easily the best value computer or video game I've ever bought. By quite a considerable distance. Even including Spectrum budget games. And I haven't even played Minecraft's single-player mode. It's massively unlikely that you will regret the purchase.
Hello!

I'd like to come and join in again with everyone, minecraft name is same as here, mrpsb.

Thanks!
please may I be whitelisted plz :-)

'bagwaa' :-)
Will do, man

In the meantime... what's this? A teaser video of Pazland? Why yes!

Pazland is looking pretty cool, lots of changes in the game since i last played, may have to dust it off and come make some stuff
I couldn't quite get the entrance to castle nickachu right with the water, is there any way to fix it so that you have a deep calm bit of man made water?
Just had a look now, fill it in until it's the same depth on either side, and covered in calm water, then dig out from underwater would be my plan to sort that out.

Also, with nothing better to do, I may have been unable to resist doing that for you, sorry!
I can't seem to connect, is it a problem on my end?

It looks like authentication against minecraft.net is flaky again. That's likely the cause.
Nope. I can't access the server directly either.

Fucking hackers!

I wanna build shit!
It couldn't handle the awesome.
I've got 2 free hours at work, and I'm all alone, and the sodding thing is fuxX0red.

OH CRUEL FATE, WHY DOST THOU MOCK ME?
Sorry, sorry, Minecrafters. Have contacted the hosts as I can't get to the server through any of my methods.

Please enjoy this soothing image whilst you wait:

Seems to be alive and kicking once more! :)
Minecraft.net is bloody down again now. FFS
A chum of mine is absolutely praising this game to the heavens (he's even stopped playing WoW as he prefers Minecraft 8) ), but he says he's just playing it on his PC as it were, do you need a remote server to connect to or not?

He showed me a video of it whilst we were at the pub, and it appeared to consist of chopping down trees and making a little hidey hole to escape from the monsters before the first night fell. He was also very excited about a mine shaft he'd found that had some goodies in it, which he was squireling away somewhere safe.

Part of me can see it's the sort of thing I'd like, I'm really not sure.

Perchance I should have a punt on it.
Is there not still a free demo?

I don't like demos, I really just like to commit to something and then deal with the consequences.

You can still play Classic in browser without buying. It's just a building game then though, with none of the crafting or survival elements. It'll give you a good view of the game.

Also... you can get the game to play single player without too much looking. Need to pay to play multiplayer though.

You can do both - play it single-player on your own PC, or play multiplayer on a server.

It's multiplayer lego, basically.

Oh, well in that case, buy it. 15 euro is not a lot of money :P
Also, are you sure your PC is up to it?

Due to the unique way it's coded, MineCraft batters the fuck out of most PCs.

If my PC can't run Minecraft beautifully, I can't be held responsible for my actions.

Finance is available!

So I can run my own server from my media PC, perhaps, and then me and my chum can play on it?

That'd be good.

Or if I'm allowed to play on the BEEX server, can I see all the stuff that everyone's built and have a snoop around your houses and stuff?

I do like sandbox games, I spent christ knows how long in Dungeon Keeper 2 on the 'bonus levels' whereby no enemies come unless you ask them to, just building the most perfect and elaborate dungeons I possibly could.
Worst game ever.

You can, but the server is a bit of a monster as well.

I dunno. Please define the following terms in your own words:

1. Fun
2. Griefing
3. Lulz

1) In the context of this game, I would say building cool stuff and looking at the cool stuff other people have made
2) I don't grief in games, I leave that to hyperactive American teenagers
3) I'm quite enjoying killing pigs and getting raw porkchops at the moment, but I think I need to do something more productive

Punch a tree... that's the first step on a long road

Yes I have dirt and wood and leather about me now, I guess I need to start fashioning them into something useful.

Off out for lunch now with Mrs AE but I shall pick it up again this afternoon.

Being on holiday kicks ass, I wish I was on holiday all the time.
Thanks MrsPB for sorting my castle moat front bit :)
Yay I survived my first night, you don't get much time to muck about, I'd just about managed to fashion a little hidey hole and get some torches going when night fell and the baddies started looking for people to eat.

I also have a crafting table and some stone tools.

Thats ok dear, just give me a shout next time you need your front bits sorting out and I'll see if I can lend a hand.
I love this game and TBH I'm a little bit frightened by it at the same time, it's so vast, I can easily see myself losing hundreds, nay, thousands of hours to it.

It could well be World of Warcraft Mark II (WoW has, give or take, kept me occupied for the last three years).

I'd quite like to play on a multiplayer server to have the chance of meeting other folks and seeing what they've made, would I be welcome on the BEEX server? Also, I'm guessing if that server were to ever disappear you'd lose all your stuff and everything you'd made?

It's all a bit 'expansive' to start with, does using Minecraft Wiki count as cheating? :nerd:
You can't really cheat at it, it's more a toy than a game. Play with it however you like :)
Server worlds are identical to SP worls, so you can take a backup and restore it on a server or on a computer for single player. Risk of losing stuff is slim.
Are there any must-have mods or suchlike?

My chum mentioned a nice texture pack that he'd added to it.

There's lots of nice texture packs out there. Some of them need you to run McPatcher first or animated textures (eg water) won't work.
Dunno about mods, but I like the default textures bestest. The fancy one's look all wrong to my eyes.

Aaah, it's a relief to hear that Minecraft is inefficiently coded, even on PCs. Minecraft is the only application that has ever forced the cooling fans to kick in on my once-badass iMac.

I've had it close itself down with a message that it's run out of memory and it didn't want to corrupt my world (I was playing around with the graphics options).

This is on a PC with 12GB of RAM. (And yes I know it'll only use 1.5GB for itself, and yes I know it's probably some dreadful inefficiency in the Java engine. But even so.)

It's strange though, a bit like watching a really good film on a really shitty old VHS tape, your brain just 'adjusts' and it looks fine. Objectively the graphics are fucking appalling, but once you're into the game world, it doesn't matter.

Hearing the monsters snuffling around outside during the night time is surprisingly creepy, like a hero I went back out at the crack of down, and managed to get some baddy to burn to death in the rising sun as I strafed around him (he was firing arrows at me, I managed to steal some arrows after he'd died).
A few things,

First thing: The server is looking really good!, you seem to have built a lot! (from pazland video)

Second thing: cant remember who it was, but someone wanted a Minecraft demo

Third thing: HOW THE HELL DO I STOP ALL THESE E-MAILS SAYING THERE'S BEEN POSTS SINCE MY LAST VISIT?

Forth thing: Hello to all the people that i know out there! Nice to talk to you again!

Fifth Thing: :bulb: I vagually remember DavPaz saying i was rubbish at grammer, so: Hey DavPaz! You're Brilliant! Is that your house?

Thank you for listing to my mindless blabbing.

Cookie197

EDIT: Edited to fix Grammer

Sounds like you've subscribed to the forum. Go to the User Control Panel (top right), then go to 'Manage Subscriptions' on the left, and see if there's anything in there.
