Ooh, I found a gorge!
Will it be possible to update Pazland to Minecraft 1.0 and have all the lovely new features (specifically the villages full of NPCs) appear in unexplored portions of the world?
I expect so. Gorges were added with NPC villages and I've just found one north of craster's portal exit
I've found an NPC village!

I am about to rape an pillage the natives
Or not. No monsters = no NPCs
There must be a way of setting it so only non-aggros appear. Wolves can be aggro'd (as can NPCs) yet they show up With our current peaceful settings as Dimrill's dog can still be found wandering the empty, desolate city.
On further inspection, the actual NPCs will be added into 1.9. Just the villages appear in 1.8.

It is a very nice village though.
Did someone plant some huge mushrooms in the bay between the casino and Nickachu's castle?
I put one out there on an island. I think they do grow spontaneously though.
There's a lot of new stuff. Been tweaking things all day.
Your Mums mushrooms grow spontaneously.
I haven't played this for ages (1.5.01) and i just tried and it says can not connect to minecraft.net. Is this because it is busy, or because I have an old version?
I would have suggested we enact the "Pazland Fortification Act" to build a huge perimeter wall around the main city... but the way monsters spawn it wouldn't really keep them out. Besides, Spiders are docile during the day but would turn nasty at night inside the city.

Probably just busy, but the new version is available on the website if you want to try it:

I'm going to give this a whirl soon. Someone PM me the server details, please?

The address is the same as the map link posted earlier without the port number. I'll have to whitelist you and bear in mind that the server is still running 1.8.1 so any fancy fancy new releases won't yet connect :)

What's your Minecraft id?

Might work as long as everything is lit properly. Sounds like a fun game!
Well, there's problems with turning the aggros back on.

For one, we play to build and have fun. Having to hide, reset the clock (which can cause red stone circuits to 'stick') and plonk tons of lights everywhere isn't much fun.

There's also tons of new monsters. Exploding Creepers are bad, Endermen randomly disassembling stuff is worse.

I dunno, in a way it would be cool but in another way it would spoil things a bit. I say that while simultaneously planning the huge Crackdown 2-style wall complete with floodlit access gates and guard towers and a centralized alarm system.

Btw, is there any way to set God Mode so we don't get hungry? That row of jiggling chicken legs is annoying.
No that I've found. You should just munch a chop or two to top it up.
Wait, hang on, I've updated the simplegod plugin. Should sort the health thingy.

Not that I can log in to check :)
Tonight was not a good time to check out new stuff! Gosh darned merkins!
What's the situation right now? Can I upgrade my copy and connect to the server and see all the wonders of "full" Minecraft? Is there anything not currently working in Pazland?
We're still on 1.8.1 in Pazland. As soon as bukkit updates, so will Pazland.
I went and investigated the village. It has unwisely been built on a fairly uneven patch of desert so it's quite steep. One of the houses had its door half-blocked by sand, which I fixed.

They have a working well and some kind of communal barbecue. The western edge is quite flat and will suit the construction of a rail station. I'm not sure if there are any light sources set up, or how any modifications to the village will be met by the locals.

EDIT: /sgod isn't recognized.

Sorry, changed it. It's just /god now.
Now then, would you look at the cave formations in the newly generated portions of the map.

Interesting...
So... abandoned mineshaft with damaged rails in newly generated area of map, eh?

Regretfully, I am reverting to the non-hires version of the map. The new one took up about 10 times more resources. 8)
It wasn't that much nicer either.

The compromise I'm going for is new map style, but lower zoom in capability.

Found another village this morning, too.
Right, no more faffing. Have put a dev build of 1.0.0 on the server. Let's see how that goes!
No villagers, doesn't seem like much has changed.
Might be a dev build thing.

PROGRESS!
Where is the village? Oddly, stone blocks haven't got the same resistance in multi that they have in single player.
The first village is directly north of Craster's scorpion. The second is East North East of Barad-Dim. Look on the map for them, they're a small cluster of structures.
Oh yeah, East of my solar system. I immediately did a Timmy o'Toole impression and got stuck in their well. Even odder, is that their cobbles have to resistance of stone blocks.
See if you can find the join between the old map and new. Hint: it's where the sea level changes

:belm:
I figured that's what that was. It's bizarre, the seams are very apparent on the map too. There's a really long waterfall along one edge of it. I'd be tempted to build some kind of dam to disguise it.
New feature! If there's only one block between you and water (assuming you're underneath it), you get little water drips to let you know. Most useful for shallow mining.
Started a singleplayer world to go and see one of the villages. The villagers all walk around with their hands together, looking aimlessly at their crops. One looked at me and nodded curtly.

That really is it. As with the villages in Pazland, the local terrain hasn't helped things. One house's door was several feet up, so I had to build some stairs up to it. The church's door was underground, trapping the priest inside.

When night fell and the surrounding area became infested with spiders, zombies, creepers and skeletons, the villages continued to wander around their crops and didn't notice. The mobs didn't attack them either. When I went down for a closer look, a zombie chased me into a house and the two villagers inside (a butcher and a farmer) just watched. I ran back outside and got blown up by a creeper.
Pazmo, can we address wool colours in the /giveme yet?
