Holy shit, that's expensive. I think they were about €20!
€20 is also really expensive!

There were a lot of "collectibles" in that shop

Alien: Isolation protagonist Amanda Ripley is making a comeback in a new game – but it’s not what you were hoping for. Alien: Blackout is a survival horror game for smartphones, where you’ll need to guide the aforementioned character’s crew through the Weyland-Yutani across seven perilous levels.

Oh.

Presumably it'll have a shit energy meter that depletes as you play, and when you run out you have to wait 24 hours to play again or pay $3.99 to refill it.

Tsk its almost as if you know nothing of mobile games - the refill will only be available to purchase via small Jonesy cat tokens and you can only get them by opening lootboxes in the shape of egg sacks - drop rate of cat tokens will be 1/50 and there is a chance the cat token will get freaked out and run away

Lootboxes can only be purchased by crystals
Crystals can only be gained by mining
Mining runs down your energy reserves faster than normal

And on and on ......

Shes floating about in space and then a searchlight flashes over her. And I reckon her eyebrows move an’ all having watched this back.

Oh. Huh. I think I liked my version more.
Fuxxache.

[edit]Fixed it!
Vue cinemas (maybe others) are showing Alien for the 40th anniversary, so that's nice. I've not seen it at the cinema before.

I went to see the 2003 director's cut at the ODEON in Birmingham (closest cinema that was showing it)

The walls in the auditorium were painted white. Every little flash of light on the screen lit up the whole room like a nuclear explosion and it really destroyed the claustrophobic feel of the film, completely ruined it for me.
I checked to see if the space centre was doing anything this year, but nothing advertised yet.

Cool. You could defeat it with a cup of tea!

If Jones had been a she rather than a tom this would have been more likely. Knowing Scott, that was probably deliberate and there are probably PhD theses written drawing allusions to this and the fact that Ripley is a woman

So that's why I've had a throbbing boner all morning!
Will they be as good as Covenant though?
Let's hope so!
Wait, let's hope not?

I’ve booked tickets to see Alien at the BFI Saturday night
I'm going tomorrow night! Lots of cinemas are doing it.

I'm psyched because this is the only Aliens-related movie I've not seen at the cinema (if we don't count Predator 1 & 2).

There has been next to no promotion for this as far as I can tell. The screening I’m going to was pretty empty when I booked the seats the other evening.

I’ve not seen this one at the cinema. I actually saw Aliens twice on it’s release. It’s difficult to capture how damned exciting that film was when I first saw it.
Yeah, I had to actively go and look at my cinema's website to find out it was on.

The Prince Charles shouted about it in their newsletter, and they're doing a big thing because, basically, they're awesome: https://princecharlescinema.com/PrinceC ... ?f=2329841
I was far too young the first time I saw Aliens. Scared the crap out of me!
Me but with An American Werewolf in London. What the fuck were you thinking, Ollie's dad?!

OMG. OMFG. That was so good.

It's like a different film.
Christ, it’s on tomorrow in Notts at the IMAX! Hnnngh!

EDIT (Actually, not the imax but another cinema in Nottingham. Tch)
I saw Alien at Somerset House years back on a huge outside screen and John Hurt was there and did a little talk. It was awesome

It was on tonight at the Broadway, but it was a 9:30pm showing and I have work at 8 tomorrow, so we decided to stay at home and watch Edge of Tomorrow instead.

Saying that I should really go to bed.
No, stay up with meeeeee! I’m dancing to Lil Dicky “Freaky Friday” at Revolution de Cuba. I’ll wait for you.
Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow. Tonight I watched “Life” on Netflix, which was largely reviewed as an homage to Alien. It was rubbish on so many levels.

They just started work on a sequel.

Yeah that prompted us to watch it as Sal hadn’t seen it. I’m not sure how that’s going to work but I’m cautiously hopeful!
Off to see it tonight, looking forward to a big screen showing that doesn't have white walls in the auditorium!
The sound system at the cinema last night must be so much better than the one in use every other time I've seen Alien, either at home or in the cinema.

There were all sorts of background noises that I've never really picked up on before - most noticeably in the shuttle at the end, after the Alien reveals its presence and Ripley dashes into the cupboard, you can hear all sorts of gurgles and breaths from the Alien that I'd just never noticed before.
