Thing is, I was employed on a 12-month contract here, of which I am only 6-months in. It would be hard to say without seeing it, but I'm sure there is something that says something along the lines of: "If you are treated like a normal employee, then contract be damned you are considered in the eyes of the law to be a normal employee"
I don't know if that would apply to you though.
