Yes but you also have chips, salad and fish fingers so get out

Not for christmas dinner.

I think last year we had

Roast Beef, Roast Turkey and Roast Lamb
Boiled Potatoes, Mashed potatoes, Roast Potatoes, Croquets and Pasta
Stuffing, and Pigs in blankets
Roast parsnips, roast carrots
Boiled carrots, boiled cabbage, boiled sprouts, boiled cauliflower, boiled broccoli,
tinned peas, frozen peas

There was probably more, but I forget
PASTA!!!!!!!!!!!
Tinned AND frozen peas :DD

Owen (my eldest) doesn't like potatoes unless they are chips.

I think we cooked for 8 people last year, 3 people preferred tinned peas, 3 people wanted frozen, the other 2 didn't want either and as the two cooks wanted different things, we did different things.

But...but...roast potatoes.

Obviously!! The inclusion of mash does not mean we don't have roast potatoes! And some kind of weird garlic and cream potato thing.
Ah, but Craster will think that because you have mashed potatoes, there's less space for roast potatoes.

It's the same as his bread sauce theory: "I don't want bread sauce because I want more gravy instead."

Taken to that extreme, the perfect Christmas dinner is four portions of JOWL and nothing else.

...

Well, damn.
Well I won that argument with surprisingly little effort.

Dammit, I made the mistake of doing a google image search for "Pork Jowl" in the hope of finding a funny pic, but now I just want to eat sweet, delicious JOWL. JOWL.

You should join us in a pilgrimage to the home of JOWL. Pitt Cue.
Tinned peas are different to frozen peas in that they're fucking vile. I do have a strange penchant for tinned potatoes though.

My mum does a mash that is 30% potato, 30% sweet potato and 40% cheese with more cheese on top and grilled. That Is just about acceptable, but only because it is great fried the next day.

Potatoes are pretty horrible unless you add fat to them somehow or other really.

I think the problem with most potatoes is that they are horrible full stop if purchased from the supermarket. You are lucky if you get a week before green sprouts appear everywhere.

I bought a couple of 25KG sacks from the local pick your own place early October and they are brilliant, keep them in my garage in the sack and get out what we need on a weekly basis.

Variety is red desiree, they are covered in dirt so really lean themselves to peeling before cooking, so nice though even now I maybe get one sprout among 6 or 7. Will be gutted when this last sack runs out and we have to go back to getting them from Tesco :(

Also bought a sack of onions at the same time, again find they supermarket onions are soft and crappy on the shelf. These have lasted well so far and are always nice and firm. The block at the farm said they will keep all winter if kept well.

Back to the topic of what to have with Christmas Dinner for me only one potato will do- Roasted in goose fat :)

I suspect we're off to The Church for the nursery singalong. I quite like The Church, as I take Brexit there as tea and cake is £1 and I can talk about Chamber music.

We will go to Mass on Christmas Day, its important to my wife. Around 18 years ago her dad had Brain cancer. The hospital said he was basically fucked but they would try some radio therapy. So at the same time he started going to church, he told me he was hedging his bets :)

He beat the cancer and is still alive to day, the best case for what he had is 5 years. His case is very unusual and his GP had to write to the hospital to tell them to stop the interns getting excited and telling her dad he was lucky to be alive each time he went for an annual check up!

Don't think my wife believes that God fixed him, but her view is that he went to church and beat his cancer so we should go at least once a year for that.

So I go along, to be honest I don't mind it. Christmas Mass is quite nice.

Their first reunion shows were very professional and on time so hopefully you'll be fine.
Have you seen them before?
I almost certainly have other plans.

I saw them the second time they played Wembley Stadium, then at Milton Keynes Bowl, and then Axl & friends in London and Nottingham.

The first two were some of the best live shows I've seen.
I also saw them at the Bowl.

I was stood to the left and in front of the mixing desk tower.
I was just by the path that runs around the bottom of the hill.

He did a good job with ACDC and I think he has got over himself now in terms of pissing his fans off. Think there was a lot of drinking and substance abuse going on when he was behaving like that.
And all the times leading up to that, presumably
In either Duff's or Slash's book, thete was mention of it and Axl had said that waiting would "buikd expectations and excitement", but, also, he was having pre concet parties for friends and family before the concerts, too.

Was MK Bowl, '93? Growing up in Cornwall meant that such things were out of reach of me, until REM at Cardiff Arns park in '95.
Last full week at work for 2016.
Frank Turner Roundhouse ticket got! May 12th! In the Mosh Pit this time, because it's about time I started living dangerously. Won't sit down; won't shut up.
