Notice how there's no music in The Body, at all?
Also notice how Whedon chose this episode to first have Willow and Tara kiss, so that it didn't become the focus of the episode? It was the first homosexual kiss the network had ever show, and he was under pressure to let them show it in episode promos, but refused because he didn't think it was right to make a big deal out of it. So he hid it away in an episode so large that it overshadowed it completely.
It helped that Tara was a minger. I think most people chose to ignore it.
I always thought Tara looked like Marty McFly's daughter....

Woah, bigger image than I thought!
What? Amber Benson is a babe :luv: if you can get hold of the movie she made with James Marsters then do so http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0282410/
Nah. She looks permanently stoned, it's not an attractive look.
She's perma-pouty. Me no likey.

Andy Hallett is in that too -- he played the Host in Angel. And David Fury is in it too, and he was a long-running producer type on Buffy and Angel.
She also did a film with Ron Jeremy.
It's not what you think it is.

And it's shit.

Oh :( this is sad:

Quote:
According to a 2005 interview, Hallett suffered a dental infection which spread through the bloodstream to his heart, leading to a case of cardiomyopathy, for which he spent five days in the hospital. Although he recovered, his heart muscle and valves were weakened and he found himself easily fatigued afterward. He did not return to acting (except for a voice part in the animated film Geppetto's Secret), but pursued his music career and frequently appeared at media conventions for Buffy and Angel and for science fiction and fantasy in general.

Five years after first experiencing heart problems, and after at least three additional hospitalizations, Hallett died from congestive heart failure on March 29, 2009 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles with his father by his bedside. He was 33 years old.
Damn that sucks :/

It's a shame the end of S5 was so rushed and shite. There were early mumblings of a film to wrap it up better, but that guttered and died pretty quickly. Too much time has elapsed now so sadly our last look at the buffyverse will be of a shakey, dodgy, nonsensical end.

As I understand it the cancellation was an awful shock to the cast and crew that happened really late in the season. Stupid bloody network. The Angel: After the Fall comics do continue the storyline, of course.

Bugger comics though, continuation in other media doesn't really count as far as I'm concerned.

Interestingly though, from Wikipedia:

Quote:
Head writer David Fury "guarantees" that if Joss Whedon had not requested an early renewal, Angel would have been back for a Season 6:

The only reason that Angel didn't come back...it's a very simple thing. Because our ratings were up, because of our critical attention, Joss specifically asked Jordan Levin, who was the head of The WB at the time, to give us an early pick-up because every year they [would] wait so long to give Angel a pick-up [and] a lot of us [would] turn down jobs hoping that Angel will continue– he [Joss] didn't want that to happen. So, he was feeling very confident and he [Joss] just asked Jordan, "Like, make your decision now whether you're going to pick us up or not," and Jordan, sort of with his hands tied, with his back up against the wall, called him the next day and said, "Okay, we're canceling you." Jordan's no longer there and The WB has since recognized...I believe Garth Ancier at The WB said that it was a big mistake to cancel Angel. There was a power play that happened that just didn't fall out the way they wanted it to. We wanted to get an early pick-up, we didn't. In fact we forced them [the WB] to make a decision, and with his hand forced he [Levin] made the decision to cancel us. I guarantee that, if we waited as we normally did, by the time May had come around they would have picked up Angel. I can guarantee that.[28]

Aw hell :( Lorne was one of my favorite characters.
Only last night I was watching the episode with Lorne's cousin and the portals, and I thought to myself "Hang on. They go to a karaoke bar and sing, regularly, and a green demon with horns, who also sings, can read their minds. Theve have been for two series' now. Why the fuck aren't I questioning this?"
Who said Buffy got all crap when Dawn arrived?
They're silly.
Not when Dawn arrives, after Dawn arrives. Mainly series 6, if I recall correctly.

Aw, but that's the next one!
I think it was just because people found Dawn so annoying and whiny. I know I did. Even now the actress is much older I still can't shake off the sense that's she's just an irritating kid.

Nah, Dawn wasn't too bad.

BIIIIGG spoiler - don't read this Grim...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
It was when their mum died and the show became about Buffy being a single parent and got all emo. That was dull.
Craster's spoiler is for episode 5x16 and the rest of S5. Grim... is past that point.

Edit -- it also directly contradicts what Craster said earlier.

He does not recall correctly.

Watch the West Wing, you idiot.

If it's not at the top of the list, your list is stupid.

We watched Once More, With Feeling last night. Fucking love that episode (even though I hate musicals).

I'd forgotten that the next episode is the also-awesome Tabula Rasa, so that's tonight.
My PC decided not to boot last night so I can't put any new episodes on my iStuff :(

I like it also, however:

Bits like Giles saying 'I appear to be British, don't I?', annoy me. Why isn't everyone else saying 'Golly gee whizz, we appear to be American!'?

But also, guffaw, Randy Giles.

I have also seen this episode, and I'm only putting it as "better than most". I doubt it has made my top ten ("The Body" and "Superstar" are still fighting over the #1 spot). There's some good fan-service in it, but the ending made me cross, and only Giles, Tara and Anya could sing.
What about "Hush"!?

Damn, must re-watch Buffy.
Hush will be #3, behind those two.

I assumed that because he's remarking on him sounding different to the people around him?
So why not say 'You all appear to be American?'.
Why has no-one mentioned Normal Again? It's fucking brilliant, and has pushed Hush out of my top three episodes. Fools.

Also: Holy shit, Angel is good. Who said it wasn't? THE WRONG'UNS, that's who.
Angel is very good. We're about 8 episodes into season 3.

'Once More, With Feeling' and 'Tabula Rasa' were very entertaining Buffy episodes in season 6. I was told it was meant to get shit during this season.
For those who like Angel... well, all I can say is enjoy season 3 while it lasts.
ElephantBanjoGnome wrote:

Ah. :'(
There are more good episodes, don't worry.

Which season is Smile Time! in? Because that's heroic.

Edit: Answering my own question: it's half way through season 5.

Now that Firefly's done (except the movie), I need to pick up Dollhouse but in the mean time I'll be starting Hel on Buffy. She's never seen it.
Okay, converting the last series of Buffy now!

Buffy S6:

The evil Willow ending was brilliant (except the crappy "I love you. I love you. I love you." bit which finished her off, which was crap). I so hoped she'd be the big bad for S7 but it seems not.

I'm going to miss it when it's done :(
I just watched episode 1 of the Buffy series 7.

That was a strange ending.

They better not have broken Spike.
How can you not like that?

Xander, humblest of the Scoobies, with no powers and no destiny, saves the world with talking while Buffy is helpless. I found it utterly charming. Also: less useless Dawn, woo!

Last night we reached 7x11 or so, and the bit where

Xander has a little speech to Dawn (after she thinks she's a Potential, then realises she's not, and gracefully hands the flagpole she's using as a weapon to Amanda) about how no-one else but him understands how hard it is to be an unpowered one amongst the Scoobies and that makes Dawn extraordinary. I'd forgotten how good that bit was. Nasty foreshadowing though -- Dawn says "maybe seeing things is your power..."
I never watched season 7, may not have actually finished S6, despite loving early serieses. I keep thinking I should watch it again, but realise that there is so much other TV I haven't seen that it seems sill to rewatch something I have seen most of.

It was just a crap way of doing it. "Stop it, I love you, bwaa-huh-huh-huh-huh*!". After everything else that had gone on it was properly anti-climatic.

*This is a crying noise. Obv.
Well, she *is* 26, y'know.
Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) was in Playboy.
