Is this today? Do you have a coat? It’s freezing out!

Have we met? I was wearing shorts!

Brrr. It’s been really bitter out these last two days. Do your legs not have that prickly pain from the cold?
They do not.

The clocks go forward, I start wearing shorts. I stop wearing them to work at some point in October (although I'll still wear them at home all year round).

Beard Style: Crusty Book Reader.

Fuck off, I’ve never read a crusty book

Like an old, leather book where the spine glue is all crumbly through age. You look like a purveyor of old libraries.

Work is slow, in this day and age for the Old Library sales person.

You have a beard now also!

Is there any chap on this board without a beard, now?

That’s a no from me as well

No, you’re not without a beard or you have no beard?

I have no beard.
Have you ever had a beard? I bet your face suits both being clean shaven and having a beard.

Not really. I have a vague recollection of attempting once, about 16-17 years ago. I got bored of it after a month or so. I rarely shave more than a couple of times a week though.
Beach day! Good Friday, Cheshire coast.
Got a new stylist, moving me away from red.
They took your red shirt, as well.
I get my bread on.

Five over four, three over four, one over two, three over two. reset repeat. Jump.
Nice facehugger, Mali

Me, back in May. I was trying for smart and chilled but hit mafia goon.
I had just got out of the water. So happy as I got passed the point I failed last year.
You look great for a 102 year old!

I'd say it's more casino bouncer.

Oh the simple life...
Outfit did not make the cut for party
I'd go back to red if I were you.
I thought it was Mackenzie Crook doing the Wurzel Gummage reboot?
Sort out your collar are you thirteen?
And get someone to press that 'jacket' for you.
You look like you’ve borrowed James May’s old blazer.
Richard Hammonds drag race blazer.
State of that
I think you are dressed perfectly!

Just put some seeds down, have you?
Can’t disagree there
I'd love to believe that was a deliberate typo...

You need to use Malc’s screwdriver to make your beer point the right way up, Kern! Quick, or it will all spill out.
We will all be having Malc's Screwdriver at Cottage X.

Has someone bashed all your fingernails with a hammer?
Yes I know it's completely the wrong day but Mrs Hearthly took this picture of me and Jnr at the Mann Kind Festival yesterday and it's one of my favourite pictures of the two of us.

That's a sweet photo, and a nice concept for the event.
It’s a wonderful idea for the event, and the photo is beautiful. What a warm and joyous moment.
Both of those things.
Thanks for the comments folks, it's the sort of thing that restores your faith in humanity. Seeing so many people work together to create something for the benefit of others, and specifically those who have already been dealt a shitty hand.

The lady whose idea it was, Georgie Revill, is truly inspirational, and she was at the site for the entire day last year and this year as well, for both days she spent the day moving around the site, checking that everyone was OK and asking for their thoughts and ideas. The work she put in to set the festival up is amazing, and I like to remember that for every Fucking Donald Fucking Trump in the world, there's a wonderful lady like her who has vision and drive and ambition and chooses to channel those abilities into compassion and building something worthwhile, she brought in efforts from all across the island including other charities and volunteers - and built something that is genuinely magical.

It's fucking hard sometimes being the parent of a disabled child, (as is being a parent full stop of course, just for the record!), and she got that, and she came up with an idea that would give all of those people, the parents and the carers and the children and the friends, somewhere they could go and feel completely safe for a day, in an environment that was built for them, and asked the question 'What would a summer festival look like for disabled people', and came up with the perfect answer.

It almost felt like we spent a day on a different planet, a planet where we all just care for each other, no one is trying to fuck anyone else over, everyone is looking out for everyone else, and the collective question is 'What can each of us do to make this the best place for all of us to spend time in?'.

It's a motto that'd work well for the entire planet and our species before we incinerate ourselves in the white heat of climate destruction and/or some horrible new world war.

This video is of a local band who played a one hour set (they had several artists on over the course of the day), the chap on the ukulele is a good friend of mine called Rob, and his wife is the lead singer. They write all their own stuff and generally sing in the Manx language, they were amazeballs good. They're called 'Clash Voar' and have an album on Spotify that isn't getting many listens.

(Mrs Hearthly is dancing with a purple jacket on, and Jnr is carrying her bags of animals because she didn't want them to miss out on anything.)

Hearthly, the passion with which you’ve written in support of this festival is one of the most beautiful things I’ve read on this forum. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Mrs Hearthly, Jnr, and the animals all have some moves!
