Deleted a few games. I can pop them back later.
That was quite painless. Just got to let it complete, then physically swap the drives over.
My Logitech MX master has dies, just refuses to hold a charge, but works plugged into the USB cable.

After much persuasion, basically Logitech telling them to do so, Amazon are refunding me the money.

I have ordered the Master MX3 as @gazChap gave it good reviews.

I have the 3 and adore it. Aside from the commute, using the boggo Dell mouse is the worst thing about going back to the office.

I bought 2 MX mice, one for home and one for the office. i have not been in the office for so long, my lad pinched my spare :)
The horizontal scroll wheel and side buttons are so much nicer on the MX3 than on the original MX.
Excellent. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow, then I can send the old one back

It is a massive jump up. What a great mouse. I think I will donate the mx to my son. As logitech are sending me a MX2

Can you not get a new office mouse? Or take your own in (I mean, you shouldn't have to do this, but is it an option?)

I'd have to take my own, which I'd resent on principle.
So then new PC should be on its way today, delivery showing as Monday next week, which is perfect because I'm off next week.

Scan used to send a picture of your new 3XS build but you now get a link to a video, which is all very modern.

Total cost is a bit, *cough cough*, especially since I upgraded the graphics card to a RTX3080 prior to the build (documented in the Wongawatch thread).

Still, my current 3XS system has done 4 1/2 years of great service and will be going to Hearthly Jnr as a hand-me-down, and I'm expecting to get 4-5 years out of this.

I've got a few games lined up I want to try once it gets here, honestly I've been a bit disappointed by the retirement of the XBox One X and PS4 Pro down to 30FPS consoles, I was really hoping they'd have some more legs in them as 60FPS experiences, so it was whether or not to get a XBox Series X and PS5 (such as you can anyway at the moment), whilst still having to use a PC for FPS games as I can't play them with a pad, or just bite the bullet and get a new PC, so I went for the latter. (Forza Horizon 5 is one that springs to mind, which only has a 30FPS mode on the XB1X, which I think is really crap, so I'm going to get it on PC instead.)

Anyway here's a snap from the video, and also the spec sheet, I've blacked out stuff that isn't relevant to the actual PC such as delivery, warranty, the Scan 3XS branded mug etc.

The video is here if you care (it's less than a minute long) - https://video.citnow.com/vtd414N6Pj4

Excellent stuff..
Been looking at M2 drives for the ps5 as it is storage hungry. What is the recommended ones to look at ?
No economy of scale there. The 2TB is more than twice the price
Isn't that always the case? The tech required to cram in the higher levels of storage definitely whacks up the price per GB
I'm still amazed that you can fit so much data on so little a thing. Multiple terabytes on something that you could easily swallow

Don't forget a heatsink!

Perfect... ordered now.

Me too.

Flashbacks to when I worked in a shop that had 512mb SD cards available for many many hundreds of pounds - somewhere between 300-400 quid at the time IIRC. Not that it really mattered what the price was, as no-one was buying those back then anyway.

Russell is convinced that I once ate two SD cards in my sleep.

I was saying the other day that data storage is so (relatively) cheap and small now that it’s amazing that they don’t put a decent amount on consoles. A little fingernail’s sized card and suddenly the Switch has many times over the amount of storage it was born with.

And fitted. That was very easy.

How many bytes did it take?

Get out
Can be quite high FAT content in them too
I think I would like more RAM in my PC... It's beginning to show it's age and I think some extra RAM may help, especially since the software I use recommends 32gb of RAM and I only have 16gb.

So, the motherboard I have is this.... ASUS® PRIME X370-PRO (DDR4, 6Gb/s, CrossFireX/SLI)

The RAM I have is this... 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2133MHz (2 x 8GB)

I'm presuming the best course of action would be to buy exactly the same RAM off Amazon and it'll all slot neatly in and I'll be on my way? Is it that simple? Or is there better RAM I should be looking at?
Yep, if you can get the exact same RAM just grab another couple of sticks of that and throw them in, the motherboard and Windows should just see it automatically at next boot.

Faster RAM is better for some tasks, but it generally doesn't make a massive difference, and certainly not to the extent where you'd want to be replacing two perfectly good 8GB sticks you already have.
Me again... My 10 year old daughter wants a laptop and I told her I know just the people to ask!

She'll want it to play Roblox, screen record, the usual Internet type stuff and potentially using Capcut to make YouTube style videos.

She was given £500 from her great Grandad who passed away last year so the money is burning a hole in her pocket. Obviously, I don't think she needs to spend all of it in one go but... Is anyone able to recommend a decent laptop that she'll get a few years out of?

Also.. If it's able to not get lost in the rubbish dump that is her bedroom, that'll be a bonus.
Not exciting, but a Dell Inspiron with a decent Ryzen at that price point will be perfect for those needs
Or a stolen MacBook Pro M3.
Get a 360.

/obligatory
Honestly I bought a Chuwi laptop off Amazon for a couple of hundred quid that is fine - 1080p screen, intel n100 quad core CPU, 8GB ram, 256GB SSD. Came with windows 11 home not pro, but pro keys are a tenner off cjs cdkeys.

The only shit bit is that the keyboard is US and they fix that with a rubber overlay - but even that's alright.

Cheap n100 jobs are the way forward at the mo - first I got a beelink minipc with 16gb ram, 512gb SSD for £180 just to see what these toys are like and it's bonkers for the price (and is even win 11 pro).

I got a HP one for about that for my son. It was on offer at Currys.
