Neutral feedback I guess.
Ah, mystery third option, I should have known! i didn't know you could leave neutral feedback.
What's the situation with them leaving me feedback then? Should I expect them to be annoyed at me and respond in kind or will they get into trouble for doing that?

Sellers can't leave negative feedback anymore. Ebay is a mug's game for sellers these days, so I wouldn't worry.

Although it isn't what you expected, they seemed kind enough to refund you and sort out the problem.

Personally I'd put positive feedback and just put a note saying something like you had a problem which was quickly sorted.

Except they haven't, from what I've read. There's a piece missing but sdg has just decided to keep it anyway.

But that was her choice. It's a borderline one, but I'd just give them positive feedback unless I felt they'd done it on purpose.

Yes, but the other option is to faff about sending it back/on to someone else. If they'd send out a complete replacement, that'd be better than keeping a defective item, surely?

They haven't offered that, so I'd go with neutral.
Well that's my problem, they've offered to refund me and then relist it with the problem mentioned and pay me the postage to ship it on to the new seller. So they have been good in that they are happy to refund me.
The seller is listed as being based in New York but the item shipped from Manchester or somewhere like that. When I first contacted them, they said "bit confused a little I was told it tested ok. So is it missing a part or broken thanks"
So to me, they have a 3rd party, refurbishing uk based items that they then advertise and sell. This third party has tested this item and passed it for sale in a refurbished excellent condition. But if they had tested it, they would have noticed immediately this problem because I discovered it as soon as I tried to plug in the optical cable before I'd even powered it on.
The way they are willing to deal with this situation is acceptable, they couldn't really do much more. But their testing/inspection/refurbishment process isn't really up to par and that issue should really be addressed.
Am I taking this too seriously?
I think so yes.

They've done everything they can to resolve the problem with offering the refund, no questions asked.

They are asking her to post it onto someone else at the cost of her own time. This would be unacceptable to me.
But she'd have to post it somewhere to get a refund so why not? I'm sure they'd accept it back if she asked so this way seems to make sense.
I would say positive feedback but be a bit stingy with the star rating on "item as described".

The only thing that seems off about this is that the company is asking you to send it on in the hope that the next person to get it either doesn't notice the damage or cant be arsed sending it back. Its not like they're getting you to send it back so they can fix it (unless I misread)...

Yes, it's bollocks. I can't believe how happy some of you would be with such shoddy service.
I bought a couple of games off eBay which the seller described as being in "very good" condition.

If you look past the broken boxes, the tatty manuals, the smell of smoke and the cracks in one of the disks... I guess they are!

I got a refund off eBay for these games with no bother. I sent them back via recorded delivery but they turned back up at my house yesterday. The guy never collected them from the post office.

I bought an item from a seller on ebay, but was unable to pick it up due to MrsA being in hospital. They want to relist it and cancel the transaction. Should I wait until the £25 is back in my paypal?

What the hell is it that they're so desperate to.get shut? If they've been.paid what's the problem?!

As an aside, I'm totally sick of hitting . Instead of space in my winpho. Grim... Should fix it in the forum code.
I was selling something a few weeks ago and some prick wins it then almost immediately mails me as says he can't pay for it

Ebay don't do anything about the 1000's of tossers like this, so I have to re-list it and wait 3 more days before I sell it and then also open a non paying strike, which I'm sure this clown with his 3 feedback won't worry about

There is also not enough criteria to block bidders, you should be able to block all one strike none payers not 2, and also 0 feedback users as 80% of them are a pain in the arse as well

These days I watch my auction and just kick and ban users with 0 feedback, I know everyone has to start somewhere but EBay do nothing to weed out the bad accounts and then support the buyer 100%

It was a rocking chair and taking up space. I got my monies back and they relisted it and it went for £7 more than I'd paid. Turns out, MrsA had gone off the idea anyway, so good all around.

Not that I can see you can block bidders with -1 to -3

All the other blocks for 0 bidders have something else attached like "no credit card on file" and 0 feedback.

You can spot the con artists these days, they have an account opened within a few days and are bidding high on your item.

Bid and won a monitor for £31. The seller then doubled the postage to £45. I asked why the hike, he then contacted eBay to pull it.

Bid £20 for and won a roof rack for Big Car. Paid pretty much as soon as auction ended using PayPal on Sunday evening but heard nothing g from the seller so far, despite my chirpy messages to arrange collection. Don't think I will see that money again, or the roof rack.
If you paid paypal, just raise a dispute. A refund is pretty much guaranteed.

Probably will do. It is annoying as the roof rack is £100+ new and the uncharitable part of me thinks that the seller wanted more than the £20 I paypal'd them as per the listing. I will wait until tomorrow and then right a slightly less cheerful missive as you never know, there could have been a family crisis or some such.
Ebay is entirely weighted to the buyer these days, you'll get your cash back no problem. You'd probably even get your cash back if you picked up the item in person and signed a photo he took of you holding it...

The seller could be on half term holiday. also a good chance they are not wanting to let it go so cheaply. So it depends what you want to do. As Trooper said there is no issue with you getting your £20 back, but maybe you should call Ebay and see what they say if you want the roof rack for the money you paid.

I've just sold GTAV for the 360 on ebay but it's been bought by someone in Puerto Rico. The game is the PAL version so am I right in thinking that it won't work over there? Or is that not the case any more with HDMI and all that?
My mom bought a jacket off eBay and paid for it along with £5.50 postage. We then received a message off the seller saying that they were going to be in our area yesterday afternoon so if someone was in, they'd drop it off.

We said fine but asked if they could have refunded the postage since they're not posting it. The seller responded by saying that they wouldn't refund it as they were using their time and petrol to drop it off and instead... Have now posted it.

I'm not sure whether I'm in the wrong here? People are weird.

I've no idea what it would cost the person in time/petrol money to drop the item off but you can say for sure it's a non-zero value so asking for the whole of the postage to be refunded is, I think, pretty cheeky from your side. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't care. You paid a price which you agreed in order to get it delivered to your house. If the seller had offered free postage then he'd likely have got more.
Bear in mind it wouldn't have cost £5.50 to post anyway, most likely. Postage is just a way of bumping up the price. Ebay is a con.

However also remember that Ebay itself is the biggest con of the whole thing as from about the start of last year they started charging their final value fee on postage as well.

So that £5.50 you paid to post it - ebay took 55p of it , and also will have taken 3% off the top if you paid with paypal (so another few pence)

:shrug: I always just pay the price I'm happy with including postage, I don't really care how the seller wishes to break it down, he could say that it cost him £10 in sellotape to wrap the thing but as long as he was up front about it I don't care.

Without asking for detailed travel plans you don't know how, when or why the seller is doing anything so I just wouldn't have bothered asking and left it as is. :shrug:
